Lessons will prioritize an understanding of the relationship between anatomy and sound. My students are taught how to hear an issue in their playing, diagnose the problem, and know exactly how to fix it physically. Creating a beautiful tone, a natural comfort with the instrument, eliminating pain or tension are all things we will work on.
“Talent” is a widely misunderstood concept. As a teacher, I don't believe talent is born. Talent is an artful skill. This skill is made through practice: concentrated sessions of mindful repetition, silent awareness, and craft. I believe anyone can learn an instrument with the right mindset and the right instruction.
My pedagogy teachers include Dr. Olga Kaler, Dr. Carla Trynchuk, Dr. Clifford Colnot, Dr. Frank Diaz and Mimi Zweig, director of the internationally renowned Indiana University String Academy.

My 15 year old daughter loves violin and says Larissa is the best teacher she has ever had. She is patient and every time my daughter has a lesson she comes away excited and so ready to practice.
