I teach beginners from a classical perspective using the Faber method with a strong emphasis on sightreading and music theory. As the students advance, we may move into other genres at the students' interest, with a continued focus on artistry and technique.

I suggest 30 minute lessons for beginning students and 45 minute lessons for all Level 1 and above piano students.

About Sindhu
Sindhu, singer and pianist, received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Georgia State University where she studied with W. Dwight Coleman. She is familiar with many genres of music including classical, pop, christian contemporary, and music theater. Her stage credits include the roles of Cendrillon in Massenet's Cendrillon, Mi in the Atlanta Lyric Theater production of The Land of Smiles, and Voice of the Fountain in the Lincoln Center Opera production of Ainadamar.

Sindhu is also at home in orchestral singing, having sung as a featured soloist with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on several occasions, including performances of West Side Story as well as the concert setting production and Deutsche Grammophon recording of Osvaldo Golijov's Grammy Award winning Ainadamar, which she also sang at Carnegie Hall with the Orchestr
a of St. Luke's.

In addition to singing, Sindhu is accomplished pianist, having performed as a music director and accompanist for many musicals including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Wiz, High School Musical, and the Secret Garden. She currently serves as the Children Choirs accompanist at Tucker United Methodist Church and plays regularly in the worship services at Gwinnett Community Church.

Lessons take place once a week for either 30 or 45 minutes. I strongly suggest 30 minute lessons for all beginning piano students and 45 minute lessons for all Level 1 and above piano students as well as all voice students.

For Piano: I use the Faber method books. Lessons usually begin with a concept out of the Lesson Book followed up by an assignment from the Theory Book. If time permits, we will play out of the Performance Book, another song book, or a song of the student's choice. I always try to end the lesson with a music game that emphasizes ear training, sight-reading, and theory.

For Voice: I teach breath focused singing using a variety of approaches, the main being Bel Canto Technique. I enjoy teaching the Classical and Operatic genres of music. I begin the lesson with exercises emphasizing breathing and technique. I then move to working through songs enhancing the student's artistry. If time allows, we work on sight-reading and ear training at the end of the lesson. Voice students must be at least 14 years old.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano, music stand, microphones, and mic stand. I also have recording equipment if the student needs to record themselves.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I do not provide any equipment besides books and materials. I expect the students to have a piano or keyboard accessible in the home.

*** Specialties ***
Classical and Contemporary Piano

In addition to guitar, I also offer beginner lessons for piano.

About Phil
I've been playing guitar for over 20 years and teaching since 2008. Along with teaching, I've also been pursuing music recording, an endeavor which has produced two full-length albums and one that is still in progress that should be released sometime in 2018.

*** Lesson Details ***
When teaching guitar or any other instrument, I typically use a method book to guide the lessons. In addition to the lesson book, which will cover music-reading, we'll learn scales, chords and strum patterns, among other things. I try to tailor each lesson according to the student's skill level and individual musical interests.

After learning the basics, we can learn different styles of music, including rock, blues, jazz, classical, etc. I look forward to exploring these genres with you!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I bring my own instrument. I would ex
pect my student to have or to rent his/her own instrument.

My methods to teaching beginners piano is very logical in that it the fundamentals I teach build upon each other. You can think of if like a pyramid. By the end of the first lesson it is my goal for the student to know the name of every single note on the 88-key piano/keyboard. A lot of what I teach can be used to learn how to play songs by ear, but I will also recommend a supplementary book for the student to practice some more conventional music theory.

About Jason
Growing up in church taught me a lot of patience especially when I decided to learn how to play the drums at eight years old. I learned from the drummer at our church and by the age of twelve I was the main drummer for my dad’s church. By the age of 14 I was the main drummer for the whole ministry.
I also picked up playing the keyboard at age 16 and I'm proficient in music theory. I'm a laid back guy and will try to make the lessons as fun as humanly possible! If the students are having fun and learning I'm having fun! I also went to school and earned a technical degree in audio engineering and production. I prefer to teach students from 8 years old to 100, but I have taught some students as young as 5 years old.

I have been teaching private piano lessons for ten years. My students perform in an annual recital and many have played for their school holiday program. This year, I began offering my students the opportunity to play in local festivals where they earn a score and rank by level. I teach my keyboard students to play through singing the melody and finding the matching tones on the keyboard. I use the Musikgarten curriculum as well as the Piano Adventure series for my private students. In both private and group lessons my students learn to play the same music in different keys. This demonstrates how well a student is using his or her ear to play the melody. My students read and learn to write music through our theory time in our lesson. I continually aim to provide my students with additional skills on the piano. We evaluate what is being learned by it's form and key. I include repertoire beyond our method books and help my students play music they know but don't have music for.

About Ginger
I have been teaching music to young people since 1987. I began as an elementary music specialist and taught in public schools for thirteen years. After starting my family, I began to teach part time as a Preschool music and movement teacher and private piano instructor. I now have fifteen years experience in this field. In the fall of 2013, I added a group keyboard class to my schedule for young beginners. My experience in the music classroom and the piano studio continues to inform my teaching and approach to working with music students of all ages. Students respond positively to the excitement and beauty of making music.

During every piano lesson I aim to help the student play musically and beautifully. We listen to different styles of music and use expressive technique to recreate that style.

My piano studies began in the fi
rst-grade. I studied the piano through high school and entered college as a music major with piano as my principal instrument. I chose the flute when middle school band was offered and continued to play through high school and college. My degree course was classroom/choral music which lead me to be a University Singer at Ole Miss during my four years there. It's fair to say that music has contributed greatly to make me the person I am .

I lived in Yokkaichi Japan after graduation from college where I taught conversational English and served as a Christian missionary. When I returned to the Atlanta area, I began my music education career. My music library has grown to include books, cds and music in American Folk music, multi-cultural folk music, classical and jazz music. I've also had the privilege of gaining many hours of professional training in Orff Schulwerk , Kodaly, Choral education and working with young children .

My mission is to bring music to life in my lessons and my students' lives!

*** Lesson Details ***
I think my best teaching characteristic is encouragement. When you're learning something new, you need time to get it right. I use Alfred's Premier Performance series because it includes duets for the teacher and student to play together. This is a fun way to play rhythmically and have ensemble sound while getting started. Alfred also introduces multiple styles of music, simple folk songs to more complicated boogie and dance rhythms as well as classical selections. My students prepare music for the winter holidays and a spring recital. I introduce scales for students who are ready by the second and third year and supplement course books with popular and classical pieces.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Petrof studio upright piano, drums, CD's, library of supplemental piano music.

*** Specialties ***
Traditional method series instruction for young students through adult. I recently added the Musikgarten "Making Music at the Keyboard" curriculum to my method choices. The Musikgarten approach focuses on aural training, leading students to internalize the music they learn before playing it at the keyboard. It emphasizes hearing, singing and playing the rhythmic and melodic patterns before reading them. Like learning to read words, this approach starts with "speaking" the language of music followed by reading and writing it.

Hi guys!
I'm Ron, and I hope to be your new teacher. I'm currently located in Atlanta, GA having recently relocated from Detroit. I've been a professional musician most of my life, playing keyboards and singing for many Michigan bands. I have been teaching voice, piano and recording at the Detroit School of Rock and Pop for the last 7 years. During that time I helped a number of students through their college auditions which led to their acceptance at schools like Belmont and NYU. I was the Instructor for a recording/production class using Pro Tools and Logic with a focus on arrangement & composition. I also co-authored the soon-to-be published vocal book Sing For Your Life, about using good technique to keep your voice healthy for a lifetime.

Ron is an excellent piano instructor! He communicates in a way that opens my mind to learning and reading the piano in a simpler and more efficient manner. He has helped me learn basic techniques of chord structure and finger positions then transcends those methods to fit the current trends in pop music today. He is very patient and also has a great sense of humor, so I would recommend Ron to any student who is interested in learning to play the piano!
