I have only had three lessons so far, but Parker has been very easy to work with. I am sure that I present a challenge as far as structuring a lesson program. I am an older student (late 60's), I had some formal music training learning to play the accordion when I was young, but I am entirely self taught on guitar. I played guitar for several years when I was in my late teens, & picked it up again about 8 or nine months ago.
Consequently, I am all over the map in terms of my capabilities. Advanced beginner or intermediate in some technical areas, but with major gaps in my understanding of both theory and technique, Parker has done a nice job initially of not spending too much time on things I already know, but still covering enough of the basics with me to identify gaps in my abilities that need to be strengthened. I have enjoyed my sessions, and the pace has been about right so far.

Extremely knowledgeable, and best of all: he knows good tricks to teach you the content. He's done this for years and will serve you well. He can occasionally get sidetracked/off-topic, but it serves to provide insight into other aspects of the lesson and doesn't detract from the content. Overall, I'm very happy continuing lessons with him! :)

Spencer C. Denver, CO

About Spencer

I am originally from Northeast Kansas, where I started playing guitar and studying music at the age of 9. While studying guitar, I had several influential teachers, including internationally renowned finger-style guitarist, Andy McKee, and University of Montana Professor of Music and Classical Guitar, Dr. Luis Millan. Later, in my teens, I also began playing the Banjo, Mandolin, accordion, and other various instruments. While attending college at Washburn University in Topeka, KS, I began teaching private music lessons to students of all ages, and experience levels in Northeast Kansas. During this time, I also recorded and regularly performed with my bluegrass/country/cajun band. I have experience playing and teaching numerous genres including rock, pop, country, blues, jazz, ...

Great experience so far!

I've certainly enjoyed my beginning guitar lessons with Travis. He takes the time to answer my questions and explain things to I understand the music and the best techniques to use. He is also very encouraging and supportive of my just enjoying the guitar, even with mistakes. So far, I am having a great time!
Steve B. Denver, CO

About Steve

When I was growing up I thought music was like magic and that only special people with super-human powers could play. I would think to myself, "How are they doing that? I would never be able to play music in a million years!" It wasn't until I was 14 I discovered guitar magazines and a method of reading called guitar tablature that I realized anybody can learn guitar! With determination, patience, and practice I learned as many songs and techniques from my heroes (The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin) as I could. I realized there is so much to learn about music that I could learn something new everyday. This still holds true to this day. I keep digging to find that magic place to which music can take you. It is my goal as a musician and a teacher to help other aspiring musicians (YOU!)

Steve has been great so far. His skills are up-to-snuff and his manner is perfect for a young child with a wild imagination. But more importantly, Steve communicates very well and is on time. This may seem like small stuff but it's uncommon in the private music instruction realm.

Josh is teaching piano to my six year old daughter and piano and guitar to my nine year old son. Both of my children love their lessons with Josh and are learning a great deal from him. Josh teaches information and skills that need to known to help the children advance as musicians while keeping the lessons interesting and fun. Josh is very easy to get along with and responsive to the needs of students, I highly recommend him as a teacher.
