About Tom

My teaching experience includes 10 years of private teaching as well as several teaching posts with the Juilliard Pre-college program, Aspen Music Festival, and University of Colorado.

As a violinist, I've performed in various constellations in North America, Europe, and Asia as concertmaster of the Moritzburg Festival Orchestra in Germany, Pacific Music Festival in Japan, and the Sarasota Festival Orchestra. I hold a bachelor’s degree from The University of California, Santa Barbara and a master’s degree from the Juilliard School where I served as associate concertmaster of the Juilliard Orchestra. I was a founding member of the Ajax Quartet which up until recently served as the graduate string quartet in residence at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Locally, I regularly perform with Boulder Bach Festival and Boulder Chamber Orche

stra and I'm also a substitute violinist with the New World Symphony in Miami!

July 24, 2019
I took Tom's violin lesson almost 6 years ago when I was visiting the US and trying to find a violin teacher during my staying. I was very lucky to meet Tom on craigslist. Tom is a very talented violinist, I always enjoyed his music when he demonstrated the phrase for me. He gave me many ideas about the music expression and many knowledge that I've never had before. He always encouraged me even if I knew I was not good enough. I still remembered the way he taught me to play the scales with metronome and remembered those fun moments working with him.
July 20, 2019
Tom is an extremely qualified and talented violinist and educator. He is an incredibly knowledgeable, experienced, and trustworthy teacher. I have grown in technical ability and confidence through studying with Tom and I would highly recommend him!
July 20, 2019
My daughter made a huge amount of progress studying with Mr. Yaron and really enjoyed her lessons. He's a great teacher!

About Megan

Megan Healy is a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Colorado Boulder studying violin performance and pedagogy. While at CU, she has served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant to Károly Schranz and Harumi Rhodes, the former and current second violinists in the world-renowned Takács quartet. As a teaching assistant, Megan provides weekly technique lessons to Masters and Undergraduate violin performance majors. Megan also holds Master of Music and Artist Diploma degrees from Western Michigan University, where she served as Graduate Teaching Assistant to Professor Renata Artman Knific, providing private instruction to undergraduate music therapy, music education, music composition, and music technology majors. Megan holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of Iowa under the tute

lage of Dr. Scott Conklin. She has studied viola performance with Professor Igor Fedotov and Dr. Megan Gray.

Megan enjoys a multifaceted career as a freelance performing artist and teacher. Current projects include lectures on teaching adult beginners and special needs populations for the American String Teachers Association, as well as an album of five new works for solo violin written by American female composers, inspired by and dedicated to Maud Powell. These works will be performed in a variety of contexts, including a recital tour, interdisciplinary performances, educational and outreach programs.

Megan currently performs with the Boulder Philharmonic, Boulder Chamber Orchestra, Fort Collins Symphony, Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, Steamboat Springs Symphony Orchestra, and the Colorado Pops Orchestra, and has held positions with the Kalamazoo, Southwest Michigan, Southeast Iowa, and Holland (MI) symphony orchestras. Recent special engagements have included a performance as guest soloist with the Elgin (IL) Youth Symphony, interdisciplinary collaborations with Life/Art Dance Ensemble, and the live premiere of Julián Brijaldo's Atravesa'o for violin and delay pedal.

My primary goal as a teacher is make playing the violin/viola easy and fun. My teaching begins with a strong technical foundation. Having strong basics allows the violinist/violist to play their instrument with ease, having the freedom to play musically and creatively. I provide students with a balance of scales and arpeggios, etudes and technical exercises, classic repertoire, and supplement with fiddle, pop, and jazz tunes. It is my goal as a teacher to "decode" each individual student's personal learning style. I strive to create a fun and safe learning environment and to instill the values of lifelong learning, curiosity, and improvement in my students.

Megan is so pleasant and fun! She has strong focus on technique, and explains these practices in a way I can understand. Since I am a beginner, and adult learner, it's important that my music teacher is patient and cheers me along throughout the process - Megan definitely has that gift. I also appreciate that she writes down technique tips and exercises for me to practice at home (so I remember what she taught me in class.) I'm looking forward to continuing to learn from Megan, and play music beautifully on my Viola one day.

Megan is the perfect fit for my quirky son who loves music and playing instruments. Patient, kind and makes it fun!
June 14, 2018
Very friendly and explains concepts very clearly. I had a great lesson and learned so much! When I went home to practice all that I had learned my violin playing was cleaner than it had ever been!

Lauren S.

About Lauren

Whether you sing musical theater, classical, pop. jazz, country or rock, you will learn how to use your voice well. It won't hurt, you won't get hoarse, and you'll create sounds you've only dreamed about.

Hi! I'm Lauren Sawyer. I am an internationally known singer and business owner who is passionate about vocal technique. Singing well is a SCIENCE. I have developed proven exercises that will make your voice resonant and strong. Singing is also a BELIEF. Our work together will give you the courage to release your voice from self doubt and help you experience the immense joy that comes from being creatively expressive with it! For over 25 years, this has been the essence of my teaching philosophy.

My students range from beginning singers who are curious about their vocal potential, to professionals who need a polished edge to their

audition repertoire. As Founder of Boulder Music Institute, a summer training program for artists, my work is all about empowering, guiding and creating jobs for the singer. My relationships with talent agencies in the United States and Europe have helped many performers launch their professional careers.

May 24, 2018
The BEST! Lauren is an impeccable musician, teacher, and vocal technician. I studied voice in college at Oklahoma City University and started taking lessons with Lauren after a 4-year break from singing. Since my first lesson, I have seen consistent improvement in my technique and confidence. My voice is the healthiest it has ever been! I am creating sounds that just BLOW ME AWAY!

Lauren has a wide range of students, from beginners to advanced. Opera to musical theater. One thing you can be certain about her is that she has a passion for teaching. The commitment to help you improve is there. In my opinion, that is what you want in a teacher. I have the utmost confidence in recommending Lauren to someone who is looking for a teacher.
May 6, 2018
Lauren is a great professional! When I started my singing lessons with her, I was not confident about my voice and I was not sure if I would be brave enough to audition for musical theater. She has been helping me to get over my fear and believe in myself more as well as she has taught me techniques that really improved my voice. Now I know that all of this is possible.
April 23, 2018
Lauren is just amazing; knowledgable, positive and encouraging. I have a vocal tremor meaning my voice shakes when speaking and I lost the ability to sing. With Lauren's help, I am strengthening my voice. I had voice therapy sessions with a medically trained therapist where I made no progress and was encouraged to accept my 'limitation'. With Lauren, I didn't have to settle for accepting my limitation. Rather, I am making huge progress, thanks to her technical expertise, knowledge and encouragement, My speaking tremor is nearly gone and I can sing again!

About Ed

I'm a percussionist, composer and educator. I hold a Masters degree in Jazz Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado-Boulder and a Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

From 2016-2018, I was the Visiting Assistant Professor of Percussion at the University of Wyoming (UW). At UW, I oversaw all facets of the percussion area including teaching all applied percussion students, percussion ensemble, percussion methods and jazz ensemble. Before UW, I taught percussion, music theory, ear training and jazz improvisation at the University of Colorado-Denver. and the Denver School of the Arts (DSA).

I've also had the good fortune to perform with many musical luminaries including: Phil Woods, Terell Stafford, Joel Frahm, Bob Reynolds, Andy Laverne, Jon Faddis, the Louisvil

le Symphony, the CCM Philharmonia, Michael Rodriguez, Von Freeman, David “Fathead” Newman and Greg Osby.

My goal as a teacher is to maintain the enthusiasm students enjoy when they begin drum lessons. Every student hopes that beginning drum lessons is the start of an exhilarating and rewarding experience. I sustain this interest by empowering students’ musical improvement and achievement.

Lessons are structured around 8-16 week performance projects and feature a unique teaching method that maximizes each student’s musical capabilities. My approach utilizes video instruction and communication to enhance the traditional lesson format. I also integrate and utilize parents of younger beginning students (8-12) into the lesson curriculum. These methods optimize the student’s practice time between lessons and translate to student success!

Ed Breazeale is a thoughtful and innovative music educator.  He is able to communicate his strong musicianship skills to his students.
August 9, 2019
If you’ve seen Ed play, then you’ve seen that he is incredibly dedicated to detail and precision. These qualities translate to how he explains concepts and teaches. I attribute so much of the success I’ve achieved on the drum set to what Ed has provided for me.
August 9, 2019
Ed, I would like to thank you, and commend you for the dedication and superior training you provided to my son, Sterling. Sterling joined your studio young and lacking confidence in his drumming. You had great enthusiasm to keep him inspired and motivated yet, held him accountable to reach your expectations. He gained incredible strides working with you in all aspects of percussion!!! Also, you were a strong, respected leader resident teaching the students at The Denver School of the Arts. I would highly refer you to anyone seeking a quality, talented and over all good person who truly cares about his students to join your drumming studio.

About Nabin

Nabin, a renowned face amongst the Coloradans is a classical tabla virtuoso of the highest order. His consistently brilliant and exciting performances have not only established him as one of the prominent musicians in his own country, Nepal but gained him worldwide fame. His deep understanding of different traditional styles of tabla playing, tonal quality, clarity and ability to collaborate with different genres of music makes him different from regular percussionists and it’s no surprise that he’s the favorite accompanist for many musicians and dancers.

Music was always an essential part of his life since his childhood days, and Tabla is the medium by which he was introduced to the world of music and rhythm. In combination with the guidance of his Guru Shree Rabin Lal and inspired by brother Rajendra, Nabin began learning tabla at th

e age of eight. To this day, he still views himself as a learner in an ever-expanding exploration of the beauty in musically interpreting dynamic rhythmic sounds while performing the Tabla.

While pursuing his academic studies in music, Nabin was awarded an ICCR scholarship for his Master’s degree in Music. He completed his Master’s degree from Gandharva Music University with the highest score in the year 1998. During his stay in India, he got an opportunity to further develop his knowledge with some of the greatest musical masters/gurus such as Ustaad Shri Faiyaaz Khan and Shri Tansen Shrivastav. Upon completion of a Master’s Degree from Gandharva, Nabin got an opportunity to further his musical studies under the guidance of the greatest tabla maestro of all time, Taalmani Pandit Sureshji Talwalkar, in Mumbai.

Some of his albums are, Raaganubhuti (Hindustani Classical), Murchchhana(Jazz Fusion), Re-drums (Traditional Nepali Drums and Tabla). He is also a founder of a successful band named Murchchhana, a Jazz classical fusion band. Nabin was also teaching at Tabla at Tribhuvan University one of the oldest and reputed universities of Nepal.

Currently, Nabin is residing in the USA and is teaching and performing as a full-time musician. He has also launched a music school in Colorado, Aum School of Music, He has formed a Classical fusion band named “Jam Key Jam” with amazing Musician Bijay Lal. They perform Hindustani music, traditional Nepalese music, fusion and collaborates with many artists from all around the world.

July 15, 2019
Started my class six months ago and I must say a brilliant tabla instructor I could ever ask for. His way of teaching is just fabulous. He always keeps in mind how the class can be made interesting and gives the same. I am so fortunate that I am learning from him.
July 11, 2019
I started taking lessons from Nabin from the age of 12 till the age of 19. I was encouraged by my father to take lessons from him as he saw it as a great opportunity. At first, I was not the most enthusiastic about it since tabla was an instrument I had never heard about. After taking lessons from him, not only did I fall in love with tabla, but I became obsessed with it. Nabin teaches tabla in such a way that it is extremely difficult to not be intrigued by it. He is the most patient teacher and will teach you in a personalized manner. It does not matter who you are, what your skill level is, if there is anyone that can teach you the tabla in the most complete way, it's him. Tabla is a difficult instrument to master. Thus, it is important that you find a teacher that is understanding, patient, and works with you carefully to master the smallest details. Nabin is that person. He never gets frustrated with his students and encourages them in every part of the journey.

It's not just tabla skills you will gain from Nabin. You will gain appreciation for music, the ability to become more confident in yourself, the desire to become a hard worker, and gain numerous valuable life lessons as I have. He is the greatest teacher I have had without a question and there is no other guru I would recommend.
July 8, 2019
Nabin is patient, clear, and makes tabla both accessible and exciting!
