I have been a professional singer since 1983 and have taught since 1986. I studied voice and trained classically from 1972 - 1982. Several of my students have been professional singers, from rock to opera. I teach the individual to understand the technicalities of the vocal instrument; how to breathe correctly, understand the internal acoustics and how to access them, how to project healthily, how to relax and get out of the way of using your instrument, and so much more. This is not your typical voice curriculum, but even more essential if you want to keep your voice in top form all your life. At 67, I can sing with or without amplification for several hours a day indefinitely because I have mastered the techniques I will teach you.
About Barbara
Singing is my life! I trained classically from 4/1972 - 4/83, then continued concentrated self study for 5 years. I sang for Voice of America and National Geographic Explorer specials before becoming voice coach for the MD Renaissance Festival. I have sung professionally since '83 and have taught

Since the beginning my voice has become stronger. I am able to sustain longer phrases in singing, the use of dynamics and proper placement when singing. I can't believe how far I have become! I sang all my life but I was singing with the worst technique possible. Celine has helped me to find my true voice and soon it will all come together!
I take lessons with Celine once a week and I enjoy her enthusiasm and kindness even if I don't do my best. Thank you Celine for helping me reach my dream faster to become a great singer!

Your lessons will have an emphasis on healthy technique that can be applied to any style of singing that you wish to pursue.
All classes are specifically personalized to the students need and goals as a singer. They will have an emphasis on pitch, correct breathing technique for singing, eliminating tension, development of the musculature required to sing high and free, and the dilation of the pharynx to create the voice that you've always wanted.

When we were looking for a new teacher after our previous teacher moved out of state, I found Chelsea's information online and contacted her. She spent 45 minutes with me, going over my daughter's musical interests and needs, her teaching philosophy and style. She has carried on that same thoughtful approach for the last three years as she has taught my daughter both piano and voice. She tailors her lessons to her particular needs, working on specific concepts that she needs help with or in support of my daughter's goals.
Chelsea has coached my daughter through musical theatre audition pieces, helped her prepare for all-county and Maryland all-state chorus auditions, and tirelessly worked on various piano and vocal techniques. With Chelsea's support, my daughter has been in All-County Chorus for three years and was part of the Maryland All-State Chorus. She recently had a lead role in her school's musical theater production.
Even more important than all of that, Chelsea shares her love of music. She tells stories of her own experiences with auditions and learning music. Chelsea is always supportive and encouraging, sending good wishes on audition day and ready to tackle a new piece with her at a moment's notice.
I highly recommend Chelsea as a vocal and piano teacher!"

Enjoy :)"

Beyonce has been the center of pop culture attention lately, following her Inauguration Day performance, and love-it-or-hate-it Super Bowl spectacle. The singer is often praised for her vocal range and powerful sound - but perhaps her most well-known stylistic specialty is her use of melisma - moving between several notes in succession to create a dramatic, "bluesy" effect. The technique is attributed to gospel and jazz music, but has become more mainstream as artists like the late Whitney Houst …
