I have been taking lessons with Sammy for a month now. I am very green when it comes to singing and I am extremely self-conscious about my voice and had never really sung in front of anyone before. Sammy provided me with exactly what I was looking for, direct feedback. At the first lesson, he had me perform a vocal warm-up so that he could evaluate my instrument. We then discussed genres I like, and what goals I was trying to achieve. He then asked me to chose a song to sing and sing it. He identified things off the bat that I had not thought about and gave me exercises to help work on what we discussed. Week to week we built off of what we identified the previous week and I am seeing progress. He is good about explaining things if I don't understand the concept and he provides examples of what he is talking about. It's been a great experience and I highly recommend Sammy as an instructor.

Very happy to have Sammy instructing my 10yo daughter in singing. Sammy has a good rapport with children but still keeps the singing class moving at a challenging pace
He is very organized and punctual as well!

You choose from either a 30 minute or 60 minute lesson. 30 minutes gets you warm-ups to improve range and breath,1 song worked through, sheet music, and a practice CD for you to use between lessons. 60 min lessons is similar, but with 2-3 songs worked through each lesson.

As a teacher, my purpose above all is to unlock a student’s true potential, whether it be musical of otherwise. I do not believe in trying to make or force a particular sound with any student. When proper technique is instilled the voice will go in the direction it is meant with freedom and ease. My goal is to guide the student along their journey of self-discovery. My motto is “if you can feel it, you can repeat it”. What I mean by this is when a student experiences the unique sensation of using the breath efficiently or producing sound without tension a light bulb turns on and they now have a better chance of continuing proper technique. In order to help students feel these sensations in the body that are necessary for singing I use various physical exercises to help create more body awareness. For singers our instrument is our body, and everyone’s body is uniquely their own. I have found every student has his or her own method of learning, whether that is visual, aural, ...

I like to incorporate multiple teaching styles into my lessons, based on the students learning styles. My main goal in teaching lessons is to not only build a solid foundation of how to properly sing but also to help boost confidence while doing so. I believe that having a free environment helps the student be more comfortable when developing their musical talents.

My 6yr old just took his first lesson and is hooked. Gigi is very sweet and stirred up an excitement in him. My son definitely liked the "idea" of learning the piano but is now confidant and actually writing his first song! Who knew, 5 notes and you can become a composer! BRAVO GIGI:)

"Hilary has such an enchanting voice, and such a beautiful message. When I first heard her sing at a live show, I fell in love with her style immediately. Her lyrics, her vibrato, and her pitch her perfect, even in a live setting. I started taking singing lessons with her a year later, and she helped me identify my pitch weaknesses and taught me the secrets of vibrato. She is dedicated to voice, practices constantly, and would make a fabulous teacher for anyone who wants to explore neo-soul and jazz!"
