Sulina Baek is a good teacher that I had the fortune of working with over the past 2-3 months. She is patient and gives useful coaching tips to improve technique. At the same time, I never felt overwhelmed with too much information during our lessons. Sulina kept everything manageable and actionable and that helped me make a lot of progress. Thus we often covered a lot of ,music lesson, and frequently ran out of time. She is also very knowledgeable in canon and in theory, which has helped me figure out what standard to aim at during my own practice. Sulina helped me turn my motivation into audible results.

I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for many of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. Other excellent methods are the Ed Sueta Book, Rubank Method, Breeze Easy, Achievement in Excellence, and perhaps the First Division Method Book. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method. I always play my instrument along with the student so that he/she can hear how the music is supposed to be played in regards to the notes as well as the rhythm! This way, we all have fun learning!

I focus on the fundamentals (tone, technique and timing) using my own personalized approach to methods such as long tones, scales/ arpeggios and technical studies. I also allow students to be creative and express themselves through the art of music.

Jeremy sings and plays the flute in our church choir. He has proved himself to be the ultimate musician. Always amazed by his great skill and talent in enhancing our sound. He would certainly have much to offer the up and coming flutist.
Jann-Marie
I was one of Jeremy's first students. My parents were forcing me to pick up music as a hobby and i was very hesitant because it seemed tedious to me. My mom then heard about Jeremy from her friend and asked if he was willing to teach me. He was very patient as i admit i was not the best student, but he stuck with me and now i am taking auditions to play for an orchestra as a principal flute player. I will always be grateful to him for getting me to love and enjoy music as i was against it in the beginning, I would recommend that everyone make him your teacher, he really is awesome! Love ya teach!
Giselle
As a teacher myself, I find Jeremy-Paul's tutoring service is to recommended as he is very patient and understands the student's capability. As a new learner, he has really given me an excellent start. He makes his lessons interesting and demands a high level of expectations. He is very passionate about his craft and is very enthusiac about engaging his students.

I begin by focusing on the basics of the flute, such as knowing the parts of the flute, how to hold the flute with good posture, making that first sound, having the correct embouchure, and some breathing techniques. Then we progress to learning basic note-reading and rhythms, while incorporating several beginner flute fingerings, then moving on to learning simple songs.

I typically use the Accent on Achievement series for flute or the Rubank flute series or a combination of the two, depending on the student's ability/level.

If the student plays in band at school, we may also take time to work on music for that as well, giving the student the individual attention that they may miss in a group/classroom setting. Flute lessons are also a great way to keep up with practice when school is out for holiday breaks or summer.

As an adult student, I have a toddler and a busy schedule (FT job). I've been taking the Flute lessons with Miss Donna since last May (over a year now). I really appreciate Miss Donna's understanding and flexibility towards my schedule. Also, since we are now having online sessions, she records videos of herself playing the notes for me and sends them to me so I can have the opportunity of practicing duets with her when I have some downtime (mostly late at night). Thank you very much, Miss Donna, for supporting me to pursue my dream of playing the flute. I’ve come a longggg way since last year and this couldn’t have been achieved without your great teaching style, support, patience and wonderful attitude.

Donna is a really wonderful teacher! She is in tune with your needs as a student and facilitates your lessons accordingly. She also takes the time to listen to your goals as a student as well as your interests in music to play. She teaches with thoughtfulness, patience, and kindness. I would highly recommend her for your piano instruction.

"Sue has been very accommodating with our special requests. She understands how to be gently persistent in the process of leading kids into getting better each week. My daughter and I checked out probably 6 teachers and she picked Sue. Sue is the farthest from our house, but I have no regrets. I can sense the depth of mastery my daughter is developing under Sue's guidance. Thanks so much!"

"As a former student, I couldn't feel luckier to have studied flute with Michelle for ~6 years (ages 10-16). During that time, she not only helped improve my technique and skill enormously, but also acted as a hugely supportive, warm and funny presence in my life. Michelle genuinely cared about my progress and very patiently guided me through years of instruction, offering constant encouragement. She always made sure I was thoroughly prepared for every recital, music competition, or youth orchestra that I participated in, and helped me pick music that I always enjoyed playing and practicing. She was also very thoughtful and hands-on in terms of helping me choose a new flute, a music camp, etc., which my parents and I greatly appreciated.

During my time with Michelle, I felt that my lessons were excellently paced—she knew when to push and challenge me, but also made sure I was comfortable with the material, and didn't rush me if something proved more difficult. Over the years, we progressed through theory, breathing techniques, scales, playing with an accompanist or another flutist, etc. in a way that felt very natural and appropriate. Additionally, the relationship we built became very important to me as a student. There were several times that, as an overextended middle- or high-schooler, I seriously thought about quitting flute—but the idea of stopping lessons with Michelle was sad enough to make me reconsider each time. I truly appreciated how much she cared about me both as a musician and as a person, and was thankful in the end to have kept playing with her as long as I did.

Michelle is easy-going and knowledgeable, kind and talented, understanding and wonderful. I will always be so grateful for the kind of instruction and encouragement I received from her—she helped me grow as a musician in every way. Thank you so much!!"

"Melanie taught my son flute for 1 1/2 year. He absolutely loved her lessons and because of her encouragement he became very passionate about playing the flute. Melanie was always very patient and enthusiastic with my son and gave him pieces to play that she knew he would enjoy, while at the same time setting high, but realistic, expectations of him. Melanie was also always very flexible when it came to scheduling lessons, which was very helpful since we had a busy schedule. My son made a lot of progress in his flute playing and was very sad when Melanie moved and we had to find another teacher. I really cannot recommend her highly enough!"
