e days that may mean you only have ten minutes. I try to explain that a little bit every day will help you become a better player rather than working for two hours the day before a lesson. I have lots of good books that I assign that have fun materials with strong melodies. I design everyone's program according to their desires. After a half year, a beginning piano student might expect to be able to play the three essential chords ( the ones that harmonize so many songs) while playing the melody in the other hand. Cellists can expect to be able to play at least four scales, some in two octaves, and understand the notes in the first position within six months.

Arlette C. grew up and attended schools in Culver City, California. She attended Los Angeles Valley College where she received an Associate of Arts degree in Music. She then received a partial scholarship and received the Margaret Aue Award for outstanding cellist while attending California State University at Northridge, where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance. She went on to attend University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a full scholarship and graduated with a Master of Music degree in cello performance.
After her graduation in 1984, she toured Europe for eight months playing cello with the Schatz Theater Group, an American opera company. Upon her return from Europe, she was hired to play in various orchestras in Michigan. In 1991, she returned to California and was named Operations Manager with the Inla

Noticing the lack of any significant orchestra in Culver City she founded the Culver City Chamber Orchestra, with a mission of developing classical music interest in young audiences.
After she founded the Culver City Chamber Orchestra in 1997, she created the Just For Kids Youth Symphony Orchestra (2006-2008). With the Just For Kids group, she taught music fundamentals, music history, musicianship, and orchestral repertoire.
Ms. Arlette as well is the Founder and Music Director of her own orchestra and has attended several conducting workshops throughout the United States hosted by world renowned teachers such as Harold Faberman, Apo Hsu, Eduardo Navega, Marin Alsop, Lawrence Golan, Leonard Slatkin, Christoph Eschenbach, Otto Werner-Mueller, and Daniel Lewis. Her current conducting coach is Mr. John Koshak.
She has taught at Bloom School of Music In 2013. She is successfully conducting with the Culver City Chamber Orchestra, and is a free-lance cellist, and holds two wonderful cello studios in Culver City and Reseda.

My lessons are fun and entertaining, but you (the student) will always learn something). You will first learn the basics like posture, sitting properly, cello basics, then we actually play the cello. Yeah!!!! You play a line or two or three, then we play together!!! We do this a couple of times with several different fingers on the strings so you can get used to it. Repeating this over and over gives you lots of confidence and mastery!!!
At the 6 month mark I hold a recital for all my students who must participate so that I and your parents can see the progress you have made in these 6 months. And both you and I should be very proud of the work You have put into playing the cello!!!

Methods I teach are traditional scales, etudes, broken thirds and easy pieces to difficult ones. Styles I keep range from the entire classical era from Bach to 21st century music to Broadway and some jazz.

My musical education began while sitting on my mother's lap as she taught piano lessons. I began studying cello with a member of the Kansas City Philharmonic at age 9, and at age ten, I followed in my mother's footsteps to play the flute. I played all three instruments, (piano, cello and flute) until high school when it was became clear to me that I wanted to be an orchestra teacher. With this dream in mind, I began playing the violin as well.
I graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor's in Music Education in 1989 and again in 1999 with a Master's degree.

I currently play cello in the Encore String Trio, and viola in the Long Beach Community Orchestra.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience includes nearly 30 years of private teaching. I've had the pleasure of teaching all areas of music; elementary general music, band, choir and orchestra. During my 20 years of teaching orchestra in the public schools, I implemented many innovative opportunities for my students such as children's concert which drew more than 700 people in attendance, strolling strings, cello choir and a viola choir, all of which proved to be very motivational for the students. My goal of teaching is to make music fun for all.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe music should be fun. I provide you with several playing opportunities throughout the year, ranging from solo to group playing. I provide large group playing opportunities at Christmas and at the recitals. Every group playing opportunity is accompanied with food and games for all. This studio is FUN!

Lessons will be tailored to each students needs which may include flash cards, supplemental materials, ear training, sight reading, technical studies, scales, and solo work.
You are never to old to learn to play an instrument. Over half of my students are adult beginners. Because of this, I provide group playing opportunities and I organize a solo ensemble contest for my students. This gives opportunities to the adult beginners that they missed out on as a child. You will have a lesson by yourself, monthly mini recitals in my studio, and you will have the opportunity to play orchestra music as a group all right here in my studio. You are guaranteed to learn how to play your instrument, have fun and gain great friendships here in this studio. I'm looking forward to introducing you to our studio family.

I went on to study Electronic Production & Design at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and quickly became a very sought after studio musician and performer.

I enjoy reading nonfiction books on science, math, and philosophy, and am building a career as a pop music producer.

I'm an easy going, very experienced, highly qualified teacher with a Doctoral degree in Music Performance. I recently moved to Long Beach and I'm excited to start my teaching studio here. I've been teaching privately and in group classes for over 20 years, both traditional and Suzuki methods. I have over 25 years of performance experience in classical music. I'm also very active in the non-classical scene I've performed with celebrities like Rihanna, Steve Wonder, Trisha Yearwood and local artists, from modern flamenco to jazz, pop, rock. Hi, I'm Marshall. I was born into a family of actors, artists, and musicians and was raised on the stage of the Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga, California, a family-run theater. I started music lessons at four on piano and later began cello at twelve. As a middle and high school student, I played with community orchestras throughout Los Angeles, and after graduation from the Hamilton Academy of Music, went on to study at Cal State University, Northridge, double majoring in cello and English literature. I afterwards moved to Germany for almost a decade, studying in Trossingen, Mannheim, and Berlin, resulting in a lot of great teachers, masterclasses and performance opportunities. After recently moving back to Los Angeles, I work as an assistant to a number of different Film/TV composers here in LA as well as playing orchestra and doing st

As a credentialed music educator, I consider myself very unique. I have taught multiple stringed instruments including the violin, viola, bass, but most of all the cello. I have also had chances to teach band. I have taught in the classroom for over several years and have had experiences with children ranging from elementary to high school.
I have always had a passion for the cello and have had unique experiences with which I would like to bestow upon students via exposure to performances. One of which is a chance to perform in Pasadena at the Bungalow Heaven event where my students (also in the past) get a chance to perform in a beautiful venue and give a wonderful recital. As well, I teach my students how to perform along with my to emulate a chamber setting.
