Music Theory is the backbone of music, the building blocks that help us to understand how musical notes and rhythms work together. Lessons in Music Theory can help you to better understand every musical instrument, and will provide an internal sense of order and structure for the sounds that we hear. Learn to make sense of every line, dot, dash, and squiggle on a piece of sheet music, as well as the elements of harmony, melody, rhythm, dynamics, articulation, and phrasing.

I am able to work with most who may struggle understanding music and or may seem to lack the capability to succeed in the instrument. I have worked with verying students ranging from 4 to 70, not to mention, I have worked with those with cognitive and or learning disabilities, and all my students have succeeded in some form or another. Mind you, these skills do not come overnight, and will not come with one lesson, but anyone can learn piano with the right teacher and direction.
I am a long time musician who has played, toured and achieved a former music education. I have been teaching music both in classes and privately for the past few years. If you are seeking a teacher that is patient, flexible to lessons, and is able to take you from where ever you are and will help y

While I certainly place emphasis on technical work and mastery, I also want all students to feel comfortable in expressing their individual voice and interests. I believe that it is incredibly important to encourage students to explore a number of creative avenues within music. Therefore, I am very open to having students explore music outside the classical canon in addition to experimenting with improvisation and composition. An additional component of my teaching style is finding unique and interesting ways to keep students motivated and teaching them how to effectively practice and learn on their own.
My teaching philosophy is largely centered around the importance of individuality. The “one size fits all” approach is hardly ever adequate--every student has different needs, strengths, and challenges. While I certainly place emphasis on technical work and mastery, I also want all students to feel

Richard has been a wonderful teacher for our 13-year-old son. He is patient, informative, and interesting; he makes his lessons engaging, yet appropriate for our son's proficiency level. He is also extremely professional, well-mannered and considerate.
Richard is the real deal. You can tell that he loves music and that he loves to perform, but he's also great at instruction, which is an unusual combination. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone."
btw, you had sent her the wrong date, so she was not expecting me, but we regrouped and had a great time."
Edwin is a very friendly musician and has a awsome ear and since I my self have a hard time staying on track he does help a great deal

There are so many tips for singers out there -- but did you know some of them may not be actually true? Here, Ann Arbor, MI voice teacher Elaina R. dispels some of the common myths about singing... “It’s bad luck to say ‘Good Luck’ before a performance.” “Don’t eat chocolate! It clogs your vocal cords.” “A bad dress rehearsal leads to a good show.” We singers toss around myths more than most. It’s important, however, to recognize which ones are just for fun …
