Lessons are fun. My philosophy is that students should have music in their lives and benefit from the lessons they take now for years to come. Learning music will help students with math skills, study habits, and develop a skill that will last for a lifetime.

After 3 months students will understand the fundamentals of their voice, warm up properly, be able to read and sing introductory passages. After 6 months the student will have learned basic music theory, how to read music, and have advanced through singing multiple songs.

About Betsy
Music is the biggest passion in my life. I love being able to share that gift with my students, and look forward to their progress as much as my own. I continue to grow and develop as a musician, and love connecting with people through music. My students all learn to love and appreciate music, theory and performing as I share my knowledge and expertise.

I have degrees in Violin, Viola and Vocal Performance, that I earned while on full scholarship for music. I started violin as a young child with the Suzuki Method and later added viola. I began singing professional gigs while still in high school, and was the youngest member ever with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Chorus at 17. I also have extensive experience singing in non-classical groups and bands and am comfortable performing and teaching musical theater, pop, country,
opera, operetta, and church music. With solid vocal technique my students are able to cross genres with ease, and sing whatever inspires them musically.

I currently play viola with the La Jolla Symphony, and have sung with the San Diego Master Chorale and the San Diego Symphony. I was concertmaster in several symphony orchestras and have played as section leader for viola in numerous groups. I also play in and manage a string quartet and am also currently coaching small group string ensembles. My siblings and I have played in our family string quartet for over 20 years, and still perform together. Most recently I was chosen to record a new song Glow for Disneyland's California Adventure World of Color Winter Dreams.

I am comfortable teaching with various different methods, and cater lesson plans to the individual student. With over 14 years of teaching experience, I have taught students that vary in age from 3 to 75 years old, and am very comfortable with teaching children.

Lessons are fun. My philosophy is that students should have music in their lives and benefit from the lessons they take now for years to come. Learning to play a musical instrument will help students with math skills, study habits, and develop a skill that will last for a lifetime.

After 3 months students will understand the fundamentals of their string instrument or voice, know how to care for their instrument, warm up properly, be able to read and play/sing introductory passages. After 6 months the student will have learned basic music theory, how to read music, and have advanced through playing/singing multiple songs.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have a violin and viola that I bring to assist in teaching lessons. I expect that the students provide an instrument and their books. A keyboard or piano is essential for voice students for vocalization. A student need not know how to play piano in order to take voice lessons.

*** Specialties ***
Vocal students are encouraged to pick songs from whatever genre sparks their interest. With violin and viola I use the suzuki method of training and follow the books and lessons, I use other books to supplement scales/technique.

Students learn about how to use their voices work without strain and also they learn how to breathe for singing. Vocal exercises are assigned to develop agility, endurance, and strength. My job is to enrich each student's life so I suggest learning songs from various genres: classical, jazz, musical theatre and sacred .

About Renee
I am a San Diego native who grew up with the joy of music education, choirs, and opportunities to perform.
I am passionate about arts education for all people and my mission is to educate as many people as possible about the benefits about consistent music

I enjoy time away by traveling, walking, reading, fixing up my house, and spending time with friends.

Voice Lessons:
I tailor each lesson to the individual. I believe in a solid, vocal foundation in order to sing in any style. Daily vocal exercises, breathing exercises, and healthy tone production are the basis for my teaching.
Learning to sing requires knowledge about the vocal instrument and the musculature involved.
Acting exercises are also incorporated into the text analysis of each song in order to fully understand the meaning behind each song.

Each student should record their weekly lessons in order to review instruction and also to help with acquiring accurate listening and pitch skills.
Music should be purchased and brought to every lesson.

Piano Lessons:
I tailor each lesson to the individual. I use a variety of methods: Faber and Faber, Alfred Premier, Succeeding at the Piano. The lessons involve ear training, written theory, rhythm recognition, and songs (repertoire). My goal is to teach a well rounded musician equipping with the tools necessary to enjoy music for a lifetime.
Daily practice, attention to details, and enjoying the music are my goals for each lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Upright piano
Ipad and laptop for special assignments or supplementary activities

Great with my kids!

I've been bringing my kids to Renee for 4 years. She has a great way of relating to the kids and I appreciate her dedication and discipline.
She has a lot of resources and always is sending my kids home with extra materials to help them learn about music reading.

Not only is she a great teacher, but she can actually play and sing at a professional level. My kids are going to be with her until they graduate from high school!

I've been singing professionally & learning voice myself for over 25 years ~ I focus on breath control, body awareness, vocal ranges, manipulation of sounds, placement/delivery, using one's belting voice properly, performance, ear training, harmony, solfeggio, reading music if one is interested etc. I teach everything from Contemporary/Pop, R&B, & Soul to Jazz, to Punk Rock & Indie Rock to Country to Musical Theater ~ everything but full on Opera, but I did study Opera for 1 year. I love teaching Voice and helping people discover their own unique sound.

About Kristina
Kristina has been singing, acting, and performing since the age of 4. She studied under the well-known and respected vocal coach, Donna Prypin, on Cape Cod, Massachusetts for at least 11 years. Kristina then went on to study Opera with Don Wilkinson, of the Boston Symphony for 1 year, and with him gained excellent range and breathing techniques. Kristina was then accepted to Berklee College of Music, where she attended for two & a half years studying under some of the world's greatest teachers. She learned extensive Ear Training, Harmony, Jazz Improvisation, Counterpoint, Arranging, Performing, Music Business, Music Therapy, and intense vocal coaching. After college Kristina moved to California where she now has a thriving teaching practice, performance, and touring career.

In 2014 she earned her Sound, Voice, and Music Healing Cert
ificate from The California Institute of Integral Studies, under the mentoring of Grammy Nominated composer/performer, Silvia Nakkach, MA,MMT. She then travelled to India in January of 2014 with Silvia to study Classical India singing/music.

In September 2016, Kristina returned from a two & half month music/bike tour through the United States Pacific Northwest & Canada with The Biketopia Music Collective. Her band, Luminescent, was one of four bands featured on the tour.

She released her first solo album (September 2008) titled, Mermaid Tattoos and is currently in the process of creating her second album.

Kristina can teach ages 4 ~ 100 and is patient, creative, flexible, enthusiastic, and passionate. Her focus is on helping students attain their goals whether it's to be on stage winning Grammy awards, or just learning to sing and perform for fun. She can help students learn Pop, Country, Jazz, Indie Rock, Classic Rock, Musical Theater, and even their own musical genre. She also teaches beginner guitar, and proper vocal acting/public-speaking skills. In addition, she performs Sound Sessions for clients looking for relaxation & coping techniques, using crystal singing bowls, vocal toning exercises, shrupti box vocal work, and human tuning forks.

*** Lesson Details ***
Kristina is extremely creative, patient, kind, open-minded, passionate, laid-back, but sets excellent and attainable goals with the student, and absolutely loves music. Depending on each individual student, lessons will center around correct vocal breathing, exercises, music theory, songwriting, guitar, acting, and learning different techniques in order to meet personal goals. Each student is taught individually and with their own personal needs as the focus.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have state of the art microphones, amps, guitars, a keyboard, IPod radio (students can bring them to share music), and of course a computer.

*** Specialties ***

I told Kristina it was my first lesson, and that I wanted to learn how to strum. She taught me some chords and how to read tabs, which was great. But she spent most of the lesson writing out the tabs (would've been great if she did that before) and watching me strum. She made no corrections as to my thumb or finger placement, which a friend later told me was really bad for a teacher to not pay attention to. Her advice on how to find the best position was to "figure out what works for you". How would I know that as a beginner? Maybe she's better for someone with more experience.

Most anybody can learn how to sing. Not most anybody can teach someone how. Francesca's studio flaunts performers all over Southern California and on major TV networks.

About Francesca
Alumnae of CSULAs music department with an emphasis in classical voice and guitar, Francesca's skills cover a vast ocean of information. With a background and formal education in opera and "the classics", Francesca is equally comfortable on stage at The House of Blues as she is at Disney Hall.

Francesca started teaching music at the early age of 16 with great success. She has honed her skills both in the private studio and in the classroom. Having served as musical faculty the California Music Academy, Cornelia Connelly High School, Pasadena Saturday Music Conservatory, and East Los Angeles College, having led choirs of 70+ high school girls and sung before sold out audiences of thousands of screaming fans, having toured 4 continents singing both classical repertoire and performing in commercial rock bands, having sung for president
s and princes, Francesca has high expectations and is skilled in helping her students reach their goals.

Now performing in the Donald Brinager Singers, a studio choir for-hire, Francesca can often be seen performing with orchestras throughout Southern California. While mentoring through her award-winning teaching studio, Francesca also manages to perform several showcases featuring her original music with her amazing back-up ensemble.

With a constant effort to maintain a professional studio learning environment and with a focus on reading skills and solid technique, Francesca's students enjoy lessons packed with information and light-heartedness. The one on one experience you will have the moment you walk thru the door promises to be unmatched. Francesca's students can be seen on major television networks, radio stations and performing around town in various projects. With a passion to give back, Francesca reserves a small number of spots in her schedule for the youngsters and seniors of her community. She teaches beginning through advanced guitar, piano, and voice.

A Note From Francesca:

My official bio is listed below, but perhaps more important than the things I have done are the things that I am doing. I am now approaching my 15th year of teaching. I love to teach! I carry a minimum of 30 students, but have carried more then 80 at one time, and have never once complained. My waiting list cycles based on my performance schedule and recording schedule. If you don't see a time that works for you, feel free to reach out and see if we can find something that works, as an artist, my schedule can be quite full but also quite flexible. I love my students, I get to do what I love all day and I am sure it shows. I have a blast discovering new ways to experience music with "my kids." I call all of my students kids even though most of my studio consists of young adults. I try to have a young air in my classes at all times as it just makes the process so much more fun for everyone.

I've seen it all in through years: kids, adults, beginners and advanced students. I am personally very interested in being the most versatile musician possible and I love being able to share my knowledge with my students. We can study anything and everything from Classical Guitar to Electric Guitar Shredding; from Opera to Kelly Clarkson; from Tchaikovsky to Little Richard! I love getting students to dabble in little bits of all genres, often getting even the most skeptical student singing and playing comfortably in a matter of just a few weeks. My students will be able to read music for their favorite tunes and understand how to improvise from the start. Once you come in, you'll be hooked. You will have fun because I am having fun!

I encourage all of my students to share their favorite music with me. It affords me the opportunity to learn more about what they desire to learn and what types of music they enjoy. We will learn with your music often. After all, isn't that why you are coming to see me? I will introduce you to new sounds and styles, but will foster your love for music, and do my best to never force my music on students. I feel I learn as much from my students when I truly listen to them and their music as they do from me.

On site lessons are available for artists recording demos, rehearsing bands and setting up their own studios.

On a side note, I love seeing students at my shows! I am a full time musician and can be seen playing with my band, in my own solo project and in various choral settings. Check out my website and see what I do outside of the classroom. My students get a kick out of the idea that they can buy a CD with their teachers face on it, and to be honest, so do I. Many of my students have their own music out on iTunes and YouTube. Many more can be seen performing around town in solo projects and professional ensembles.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Pianos, Guitars, Basses, Amps, Computer, Monitors, Music, Recording Software, Drum Kit, Studio and Performance Mics, everything we need! Its like Disneyland for musicians!

Francesca on Artist Development:

I feel obligated to share my joys and experiences-

Not many people have been blessed to sing alongside as many renowned musicians as I have - I've been lucky to be welcomed in both the commercial and classical worlds and they have both afforded me venues to use my voice and express the most vital corners of my soul. To find your purpose through art is one of the greatest gifts you can receive. And to be able to do that in front of thousands of music lovers live or over the airwaves is a surreal experience.

It'€™s funny, my classical cronies are impressed to hear my stories of packed rock gigs at the House Blues and national touring festivals like Warped Tour and my rock buddies ask to hear my stories of Disney Hall performances with the LA Phil. To be honest, Iâ'm impressed to be there too. Sometimes, I look around and think, how did I get here? How did I get lucky enough to live the dream, to find a home in music?

I've been luckier than most. I've had GREAT mentors who have always pushed me forward and shared their wisdom freely with me. Part of the classical musician's central goal is to educate. That'€™s a value I carry into my rock projects and production studio. Work smarter, not harder. Take the needed skills, create art, teach others how to do the same thing, move forward together to live happier, more productive lives filled with purpose.

I have come to be known as one of the top Musical Mentors & Artist Development Experts on the west coast. A behind the scenes- diva of dream building with the skills to push artists to the next level- the ace up the sleeve of many of today working talents. In my award winning studio, I spend time coaching the young voices and faces of today hottest TV shows seen on ABC, Nickelodeon, and the Disney Channel, but I still have a soft spot for up and comers in the indie music world. Having written and performed my own music for decades, I not only lived the collegiate experience of the elite classical performer singing for presidents and world leaders, but also the dingy road of the rock musician who'€™s showed one night to a packed stadium full of fans and showed up another, thousands of miles from home to play to a coffee shop of 5 people. Music has brought me to nearly every continent and introduced me to some of the most talented and diverse people you can imagine. I feel compelled to share these experiences with those around me so that they my develop the vision, the salt and the skills to persevere.

I am, above all, an artist & creator- living the dream, helping people- like you find their voice and write their songs. Turning raw emotion into art.

Each one of us has a story, our truth. Being an artist is about finding ourselves, our song and expressing it publicly so that we may heal, so that we may grow.

It doesn't take a ton of experience to write a hit song. It doesn't take a fancy education or a family line of talent (though it can help). We can all find our voice, our place in the spotlight, what it takes is the courage to take the next step forward.

You've already had the genius to be in the right place at the right time. Here. If you've made it this far, chances are you are smart enough, hungry enough and ready to take the plunge.

Inside my studio you will find the help you seek. I can impart you with proven techniques to strengthen your sound, develop your tone through strong technique, develop strategies to share your art and develop a plan to turn pipe dreams into reality. Some desire to sing on the worlds brightest stages, others strive to lead others through teaching themselves, and some wish for nothing more than to experience music in a confident manner among friends. All can be lead on this personal journey of the artistic soul and all can make their offering to the musical gods. There is a place at the table for anyone seeking an answer.

After working to live for many years, and after purchasing all the books, apps, and YouTube channels that seemed promising, I could never find the approach/perspective that could make the process of learning/playing the guitar not seem like an impossible amount of effort at the end of my day.

I've always wanted to be a musician, but it seemed impossible now that I turned 30 and had a corporate job. Eventually, I bought a new guitar, thinking it would my catalyst. 6 months passed and it had only become a talking piece in first dates, so I decided I needed to look for a musical aficionado.

Walking into Francesca's Studio, I felt immediately like I was in the right place.

In what I thought would take weeks, the 45 minutes I scheduled with her, we were playing and singing to some of my favorite songs.... I can't even explain how great this made me feel. I suddenly felt like I could actually achieve this bucket list dream of mine.

Francesca clearly has a talent in helping others pursue their musical dreams, and I'm excited to continue working with her to realize mine.

She has an engaging style with children’s lessons and is encouraging and positive in her comments while still being constructive to her students. I also have taken lessons and usually bring my daughter because she adores Frannie and loves her dogs at the studio.

These details change depending on, whether you would like musical training or academic tutoring.
Musical:

Music is fun and the lessons should be as well. When it comes to practice I recommend that students do spend time (1/2-1hour daily) outside of the lessons practicing to ensure that they see results. If you choose to practice only while in the lesson you will get better but it will be at a slower pace.

- Start with quick warm ups (these work to increase students fluidity with their instrument)
- Work technique
- Assign repertoire depending on skill level.
- Work on assigned repertoire
- Work on technical aspect of the pieces.
Your student will learn much more about their capabilities and their instrument as they will learn many aspects of Music Theory.

I teach beginning- advanced piano lessons touching on posture, hand position, rhythm training, sight-reading, expression, and pop/jazz chord charts. If you want to learn how to play songs by ear that you hear on the radio, I can train you how to do that too! Once I feel that you have surpassed my ability to help you grow, I will be happy to pass you on to a more experienced teacher and attend all of your future recitals.

I teach voice beginner-professional, which includes classical repertoire and technique as well as Musical Theatre, Pop, Rock, Standards, Country, RnB,...you name it. The best part is that you will learn to sing in a manner that will not damage your instrument and in fact will work to fortify your instrument.

Academic:
- Start with introduction to the standard.
- Work on problems with material.
- Present new methods to reach a solution.
- Work on all assigned work.
- Work on future work to give the student an academic advantage.

I am a hard working tutor that will bring the joy of the subject to our sessions of tutoring. I am strict at times, however, some of my students have referred to me as mellow. I will strive to bring your student up to speed and surpass even their own expectations. I love my students, and I want to see them succeed.

I teach all levels of Singers, except very advanced. My emphasis is on teaching the best techniques possible for any style of singing. My emphasis is on the "Classics", because when you learn these techniques, you can sing anything!

About Susan
My primary focus is teaching the best and most effective Vocal Techniques to students of all ages and backgrounds. I also teach Acoustic Guitar and finger picking. My teaching includes the Orff and Suzuki methods of music for Children. My primary focus is on teaching singing and I have been teaching beginning to advanced Voice, as well as beginning to intermediate acoustic guitar privately for over 25 years. My students perform in recitals at least twice a year. They also participate in local Broadway productions and Musicals for C.Y.T., Coast Kids, Moonlight Theatre, Escondido Center for The Arts, J Company, and Star Theatre Productions. Students also are involved with Classical, Choral, Gospel, Pop and Rock performing. Along with these venues, students perform for talent shows at their schools, sing in bands, and perform locally at thei
r favorite venues. Many of my students have gone on to sing professionally and I currently teach Artists with ongoing careers.

My motto is learn to sing the "Easy, Natural Way". I teach the very best techniques, so vocalizing is not strained or difficult. My main focus is on teaching good "placement" of the sound, using the best ways to secure breath support and control, as well as good stage presence. Dealing with stage fright is always addressed, whether the singer wants to sing just for themselves, or audition for Musical Theatre productions. Styles range from pop to rock and opera.
I teach students of ALL AGES and work with every style or genre of music. Having spearheaded the Music program at the local YMCA has been a special treat in my teaching career!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I teach using a piano for learning vocal exercises and good techniques. I also have an acoustic Guitar that I use to teach my students how to play and learn good finger picking and strumming techniques. Using a computer is always employed, to pull up songs on YouTube, so students can choose what they would like to work on. Karaoke versions are used as well, for further training purposes.

*** Travel Equipment ***
When I teach at a student's home, I bring my Guitar with me, if they're studying this instrument. It is helpful for a student to have a piano or keyboard for me to teach voice, but I do have a keyboard I can bring if none is available. Having a computer close by is very helpful, to get the most out of the lesson as is possible.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in helping people who have created possible "bad habits" in their singing techniques. "Placement" and breathing, or "support", are of key importance. When good techniques are used, just about anyone can learn to sing beautifully. I also work with all ages, having background with Children, as well as teens, middle age, and elderly vocalists. Singing is universal, so every ethnicity is included in my student roster. If someone wants to learn to play the acoustic Guitar, this is always a plus, to accompany ones-self, or to focus on the instrument on it's own. Singing and playing should be "easy" and this is the approach I take in teaching.

My experience teaching voice spans six years and I have helped my students develop their performance and interpretation skills. My students have learned to sing their favorite songs for special occasions or recreation, sing as a soloists or part of a choir.

In our first lesson, we'll discuss your private goals and develop a plan for their realization. Within the first few weeks, we'll work on specific skills and techniques in order to achieve your goal. From the beginning, you will have a chance to practice your skills and work on music that inspires you. If desired, you'll have an opportunity to sing at an annual recital or other performance opportunities. My selection of materials depends on your skill level and personal goals and ranges from pop songs, classical arias to a custom set of materials.

I have worked with students of all ages and abilities, from absolute beginners to advanced students, young children to senior citizens. I am very interested in working with ...

I know Ania's teaching from the time we worked together at music schools in Seattle, and I've gotten to see the passion and high level of musicianship that she brings to her lessons. Ania pushes her students towards clear and attainable goals with steady encouragement, and I saw the results in the rapid progress of her students, who loved playing their instrument and were visibly excited by the gains they were making. I highly recommend her as a teacher!

I have been taking the piano lessons with Ania for a couple of lessons. She helped me realize my life-long dream of playing classical piano music. She is a very talented and astounding instructor with a super solid theoretical background. During the lesson with her, the music goes way beyond just playing the right note with correct tempo. She shows me those exquisite parts hidden behind the sheet music. The piano music starts to become dynamic, alive and captivating. I highly recommend her to anyone.

I'm flexible with my teaching style and can help you attain your goals.

About Vitaly
I’m a Theatre Major from UCSD. I've studied music since my early teens, and have played and performed for over a decade. I love music, and I love creating art. If you’re looking for a by the book instructor (here follow the instructions in your music book) I’m probably not a good fit. Music is fun and should be taught that way. But that does not mean you shouldn’t learn the foundation of good technique and how to master those skills. I enjoy teaching as much as I do playing or performing. That is why I do it. "If it ain't fun, why do it?" - Cockrum -

About Sophia
I am a professional vocalist, teacher, and student myself. I am currently studying at San Diego State University majoring in Music Education. I have extensive experience teaching music in all kinds of situations. In summer 2017, I served as the Vocal Director for SBSC's production of Annie the musical working with all ages to teach the music of the show to the cast. From August 2017-December 2017 I taught General Elementary School Music at St. Martin of Tours Academy to ages K-5 often working with special needs students. I currently have three private voice students all who have progressed greatly with their personal goals, going from not being able to match pitch to singing songs with ease. As a professional vocalist I am a section leader at St. Bartholomews Episcopal Church in Poway where I often solo in major works such as the Dvorak M
ass in D or the Faure Requiem. I also sing with the elite choir on SDSU's campus the Chamber Choir and am the manager of their beginning choir University Chorus. Above anything else I value correct technique in singing whether I apply that to my own performances or whether I am teaching a student.
