I have been teaching piano for over twenty years, with many of my students participating in international competitions and regularly receiving state honors from the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC). Teaching is truly more than a career for me - it is a passion that guides my interaction with all of my students, no matter their age and skillset.

If in addition to pursuing piano as a hobby, you would like to participate in the MTAC Certificate of Merit examinations and earn credit for your studies, you are more than welcome to do so. As a member of the MTAC, my students boast a 100% pass rate (with the vast majority receiving perfect scores on both the performance and music theory sections).

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Can't wait to meet you! :-)

Lessons with me will be custom-tailored to emphasize the parts of trumpet playing that make you excited about music. So, whether you’re an absolute beginner, or have previous experience, I want to help you discover a deep connection with music. Together, we’ll explore the music of Gustav Mahler, Louis Armstrong, British Brass Band, and more!

Our 3rd grade class enjoyed a 6-week virtual class with Svend. He shared his knowledge and experience about jazz with us. We all learned a lot! I recommend Svend!

Svend is one of the most genuine people I have met thus far. His passion for music and especially brass music is something rarely seen nowadays. I had the good fortune of meeting him at California State University Northridge when he conducted our brass ensemble there. His knowledge and experience being from Denmark gives him a very unique perspective about playing that few other musicians can compete with. Very highly recommended.

Svend is a very fun and engaging music teacher who always gives 110% to his students. He tailors his lessons to the needs of his individual students and it is always a pleasure to work with him.

I've been teaching contemporary drum set in Orange County for over a decade, and many of my students have gone on to not only play and read notated drum set music with ease, but have continued their studies at arts high-schools and music colleges, with several of them continuing on to the professional world. I use an award winning curriculum used at many music academies and conservatories, and have received accolades for my ability to retain many students for many years. Within the first few lessons, a new student will be able to understand the basics of rhythm and snare drum notation, play a plethora of relatable and cool sounding grooves, and build a foundation that will serve the student for a life time.

"Super Helpful!!!

I worked with Jillian for about 5 months and she helped me more than I could have ever imagined. After singing in my church choir for more than 3 years, I wanted to be able to start performing solos at mass. While practicing with Jillian, she helped me to develop my voice using creative and fun exercises that I never even knew existed. She created a comfortable environment and helped me to control my voice. As a result, I eventually gained the confidence I needed in order to perform various psalms and songs infront of a packed church. I can't thank her enough for what she has done for me. I'm sure her lessons will stay with me for the rest of my life!"

There teaching style has provided a structured environment with very patient, encouraging tone so the most timid of students will want to learn. Students with learning challenges have done well with their program. Periodic recitals and music competitions are scheduled during the year to showcase each students learning accomplishments. Both Tim and Sally are loving people and would welcome anyone who desires to learn piano, guitar, violin, and voice from their experienced teachers."
