Trumpet is the most physical instrument that requires your whole body to work efficiently. Understanding the breath and how to relax the body goes a long way in learning the trumpet.

About Matthew

Anyone can learn a musical instrument. I started from a blank slate which through my own interest was able to improve my skills to perform the music I love.

This man is the real deal! A true artist with on-point technique and a warm and inviting personality.

Emerson has a true knack for technique. His instincts and communication abilities are second to none, and he always seems to know exactly what to do with any given scene or song. I am also impressed by his performance ability and how encouraging he was during our sessions, while also being laid back and relaxed. He's a great find and a tremendous talent!
Serena J.
Emerson is kind, patient, and wickedly funny. A fantastic resource in the Los Angeles community, especially if you are new to voice, he expertly applies his knowledge and training in classical voice to any genre of your choosing. He will work within your goals and needs with sensitivity and the utmost professionalism.

I’m a multi-instrumentalist and teacher specializing in electric and acoustic guitar, and artist development. I spent the early ‘80’s as major- label recording artist, and founded the College Radio- dominating band 4 out of 5 Doctors. My major-venue touring/performing credits include tours with The Clash, The Cars, Hall & Oates, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Pat Travers, UFO, even Screamin' Jay Hawkins, to name a few.

I spent the last three years teaching guitar, bass, and band, at my local music academy. During that time, I was fortunate enough to bring in major-name, platinum-selling artists/producers to mentor my younger students, whom they recognized as exceptional.

Application of my musical skills were honed by major record producers, including Jeff Glixman (Kansas, Black Sabbath, KISS) Alan Winstanley (Bush, Elvis Costello, Morrissey), Bil VornDick (Allison Krauss, Bob Dylan, Ricky Skaggs).

His teaching style is well-rounded, and is helping me build a solid foundation on guitar. He will challenge you, but will be patient and encouraging along the way. "Great teacher for piano, and music in general. I've been taking lessons with him for almost a year now, and he does a great job tailoring lessons to your interests. I've learned a couple jazz songs, some soloing techniques, and song writing techniques with Jordan. He started out the lessons teaching me the things that I needed to know and my last piano teacher didn't teach me. Great for any and all skill levels, plus he's a really cool dude."
