I use many methods including Suzuki, Kodaly and traditional teachings that include catered practice plans in order to accommodate each student's learning needs. I am very flexible and more than happy to discuss teaching methods and/or special needs with parents and students.

I use a combination of Suzuki approaches, improvisation, Dalcroze-inspired eurythmics, and somatic movement awareness (inspired by Feldenkrais and Alexander Technique) to simultaneously develop fluent musicality, joy in making music, a solid instrumental technique, and musicianship (including reading and theory). Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

I am eighteen and have been playing the violin for about six years. I used to not like playing all that much and got frustrated with practicing. I started lessons with Autumn about three years ago and now really like playing and practicing. I can now shift and am starting vibrato which is super cool. I am moving to a new state but like my lessons so much I am going to continue lessons online."

Being in my 30's, I didn't know what to expect. I assumed that most teachers would only teach children. Betsy has taught a range of students, from very young to quite a bit older and I've been so blessed to have her sent my way.
She's been patient and understanding of my random schedule (and of my terrible playing), professional, on time, encouraging, always shows up with a smile on her face and a thirst to teach. It's one thing to be excited to learn, but it's another to find such a wonderful person that enjoys teaching the way she does. I also appreciate the fact that she puts her own love for the instrument(s) into practice by constantly having performances in the field as well. It's hard to find this type of individual in any area of life and I'm so glad she's become my teacher."

Vera has been absolutely great to work with, and if you are looking for a teacher who will challenge you, and be tough and direct when necessary, but also offer empathy and support to help you grow and learn to the best of your ability, then I highly recommend Vera."

As you're learning how to play the violin, the art of holding and placing your bow just right is important to master. There are a lot of details that go into proper bowing technique, and each has the potential to make or break your sound. For many beginners, learning to control the bow so it doesn't bounce against the strings is the first step. The dreaded "bouncing bow" is a common issue, especially if you're trying to play softly, or if you're nervous. Here are some possible reasons for a …

Some start optimistically young, others driven by passion start much later in life, but when is the right time to start violin lessons? Like any other form of art, there’s simply no black or white when it comes to exploring music. The right time to start can’t be measured exclusively by age. Some ambitious parents start their kids at the age of two, and while many go off to become YouTube sensations, a whole lot more tend to give up by the age of five. So what should you consider before div …
