We'll begin with major scales. That way, your fingers will get to know the notes that comprise the chords you'll eventually be learning. Eventually, you'll be able to play whole songs with both major and minor chords and play solos over them (also based on the scales).
I'm a primarily self-taught musician. The bulk of my knowledge came from listening to and imitating delta blues artists such as Robert Johnson and Mississippi John Hurt. Though you will have learned to play campfire standards in fewer than eight lessons, the blues (particularly the form originating from the Mississippi Delta) is the foundation of ALL A
merican music. The better you understand and are able to play it, the more options you will have created for yourself musically. Once you've gained confidence playing the blues, I'll introduce informal jazz.
For more information about my curriculum, you may review my published articles on TakeLesson's Teacher Blog. Please note that I'm available to teach both in-person and online:

My instruction is based on professionalism, experience and range from more than 25 years of singing and 13 years of teaching. I have advanced education in vocal performance and am an AmSAT certified teacher of the Alexander Technique, which allow me to integrate the intellectual and physical aspects of singing. I use my energy, attentiveness and creativity to tailor lessons towards each student's unique needs.
I base my vocal technique on the Italianate tradition of operatic "bel canto," but also incorporate broad experience in musical theater, jazz, and early to contemporary classical music.
* Healthy vocal production "bel canto"
* Fach transition
* 20th Century music
Rodolfo, La Boheme
Count Almaviva, Barbiere di Siviglia
Goro, Madama Butterfly
Mr Splinters, The Tender Land
Don Basilio, Marriage of Figaro
Juror #3, Resurrection (Machover)
The Cowboy, The Blue Hotel (Hulse)
* Aspen Opera Theater Center
* Boston Lyric Opera
* Rome Opera Festival
* Austin Lyric Opera
* Amato Opera
* Dicapo Opera
* Bronx Opera
I have made demonstration tapes for new works (musical theater and opera) and know how to work a new piece into any voice.
In addition, I have worked with the Alexander Technique for over 15 years and integrate its principles into my lessons. My approach is creative, energetic and disciplined.
*** Lesson Details ***
Every student is different and every lesson will be different depending on the needs of the individual, and the demands of the day. I use the principles of the Alexander Technique to open up the student's mind and body to new experiences.
In general, lessons will start with a simple warm-up. Then scales and arpeggios to develop agility, musicality, range, dynamics, and phrase shape. Finally, the last part of the lesson I incorporate some of the new ideas that were communicated earlier into the student's repertoire.

This instructor stood me up.
I showed up at his home for our first lesson only to find out that he wasn't there.
I've also contacted "takelessons.com", but have had no response from them either!

Daniel did a thorough assessment of my skill set on the kit and created a lesson plan that works for me and my goals. He is attentive, works to what my needs are as a student, and has great communication skills. Band mates commented on my improvement on the kit within two weeks of starting lessons!
