I'm a professional bass player in Austin Texas, the Live Music Capital of the World. At one time or another I've played just about every style of music, and I have more than a decade of teaching experience. I love 'opening doors' for students, helping them understand how music works and how they can sound better than ever. I have been studying bass playing techniques and music theory with Rob for several months now. Short story: he's great.

Rob's lesson format is pretty open. If you have specific questions/goals, Rob makes sure that they are addressed. He's been able to give me some great information on various techniques and styles, and I've picked up a good bit of general practical bass knowledge this way.

Rob is VERY knowledgeable about music theory, and its evolution over the centuries. That being said, discussions on music theory are always made relevant to bass playing. This makes learning the theory and patterns very practical, and for me, more approachable.

Thanks Rob!

I graduated from University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA! I received a BFA in Musical Theatre. What a change that was to go from Texas to Philly! I auditioned for many different schools, and know what it takes to get there. I then moved to New York City 2 days after graduating, on my 22nd birthday! I had 13 wonderful, and also challenging, years in NYC. Lots and lots of auditions, of every kind! Broadway, Off-Broadway, TV, Soaps, Film, Commercials, Concerts, Readings, Showcases, etc. I have sung for ABBA (Mama Mia), Stephen Schwartz (Wicked), Hal Prince (Gypsy). I was also up for leads in Mama Mia, Wicked, Rent, Hairspray. So, I definitely have a lot of versatility, and knowledge of what they're looking for! I did a Eugene O'Neil play called "Ah Wilderness" at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, MN. We opened there, and then t
oured it all over the Midwest for 6 months. I did appear on NBC's Law & Order as a featured role, with the late Jerry Orbach. Lot's of experience, lot's of knowledge, and I'm excited to share it with you!

*** Lesson Details ***
I like to teach in a laid back manner. That's not to say that I don't expect you to work too though! I don't necessarily teach one specific method. I feel like if you can get ALL the information, and different methods, then you can choose what best works for your voice , or your piano playing. I want my students to feel comfortable and safe to explore all different facets of their talent. After all, the little imperfections are what make us all unique!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a keyboard, among many other instruments! My husband uses those, I use the piano. There's definitely a comfortable living room, for the parents or caregivers to sit and wait.

*** Travel Equipment ***
If I go to the students house, they must have a piano, or keyboard. I can bring books of music.

*** Specialties ***
I can teach any style of singing! I majored in Musical Theater, but I sing everything. I played piano for 10 years. I have many many years of music theory lessons! I had surgery on my vocal chords, back in 1995, and had 4 years of speech and vocal therapy, so I have lots of experience with that as well. I don't use a specific method with my acting. It depends on what they would want to work on! I have many books of music, and music theory, and piano learning. In terms of learning piano, I would start with scales, and chords, and learning the right hand, then the left.

About Kiki
Raised just 30 minutes away from America's Entertainment Capital, Hollywood, California I have always had a draw to the performance spotlight. I started singing at the young age of 5 and since then, have received training from some of the world's finest instructors, including Tony Award Winner Lisa Seegmiller. I studied music vocal performance at Southern Utah University on a full scholarship with emphasis in opera and musical theater.

Some of my vocal accomplishments include first place winner in musical theater/classical divisions of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition in 2005 and 2009 Las Vegas chapter. I made my first television singing debut in 2003 when I was invited to sing the National Anthem at the Paradise Bowl. I have also sung with both the Orchestra of Southern Utah and Southwest Symphony as a sopr
ano soloist in their performances of Handel's Messiah.

My love for the performing arts has given me the drive to teach what I love to others. I opened my very first studio over 12 years ago in Southern Utah while attending Dixie State University. I have since opened studios in Las Vegas, Kansas City area, and finally in 2014 Austin, Texas. In 2011 I was hired as the resident music director for Kids in the Round theater company until May 2013. My students have been cast in lead roles at many regional theater companies across the country as well as projects for TV and film. My young students are regularly cast in lead roles in their middle school and high school productions and selected to be apart of chamber choirs and selective performance groups.

Come and join my studio! I'd love to teach you!

Exceptional music instructor. Taps into child's unique interests, perspective, and approach to identify the right balance of challenge so each student feels accomplishment and enjoys the process. One of the favorite parts of my child's week. Why? Because he is interested and curious in each child. Added extra summer lessons and renewed as soon as possible because my child enjoys learning with Adam so much.

When I was first learning guitar, I couldn't get past the pain in my fingers. Rand helped me push through the pain, and gave me exercises so that I could develop finger callouses with minimal discomfort. He inspired me to sing and play guitar at the same time, taught me how to read guitar tabs, and where to go to find quality tabs. I've been playing for over 10 years now, never stopped once he got me started.

Hi, I'm Grant! I started teaching guitar in 2002, and I've studied with award-winning guitarists Chas Evans, Matt Warnock, and Grant Green, Jr. I studied music theory at the University of Southern Mississippi, where I earned a BS in chemistry and a BA in psychology, with a minor in biology, Summa Cum Laude. My unique educational background directly benefits you as a guitarist.

Over the years, I’ve discovered that the guitar is a laboratory: the best way to learn is by experimentation. The scientific method is a great model for this! Experimentation involves asking questions, making predictions, and building on the results of those predictions to refine understanding and make new hypotheses and new predictions.

My hypothesis is that you'll get started playing quickly, confidently. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Victoria was a good choice to get my child off the ground in her piano instruction. She helped give my daughter confidence (which is saying something, as my daughter is a perfectionist and therefore very insecure) through her friendly, patient approach. Though I had higher expectations with regards to disciplines like posture, proficiency development through things like scales/arpeggios/drills, or development of sight reading, as I had in my own musical upbringing (though I practiced under one of the top violin instructors in Seattle) I'm nonetheless grateful to have started the first few years of beginner lessons to give my child sheer enjoyment of music performance, as Victoria clearly has a love for music herself. I'm also very grateful that she was willing to drive all over Austin to meet in homes, as that was invaluable for my schedule. Thanks a lot, Victoria!
