Learning can be messy, but it can also be fun. I believe students learn best by doing -- not by drilling -- and I believe that learning should be enjoyable. I like for my students to have an active role in determining what their lessons look like.

In language learning, you have to practice the four skills -- reading, writing, listening, and speaking -- but I believe this practice is more effective when it's tied to a meaningful experience. While we will practice every skill in every lesson, I like for students to have a part in designing their learning experience. They can help choose topics, assignments, and field trips, and they will get to measure and assess their learning in a way that is meaningful to them.

I have been teaching in various capacities for 15 years. I first taught ESOL to college students in 2003, and have since taught ESOL to older adults and teenagers. I am certified to teach both ESOL and reading in the state of Maryland. I have taught Reading, English, Language Arts in Prince George's County Public Schools.

I am a 3rd generation, certified English teacher. I love teaching English, and I want you to love your lessons just as much as I do. I enjoy teaching both English to speakers of other languages and reading, writing, and literature to native speakers who need to improve their skills for school or work.

I will work with you to create personalized lessons designed to target the areas where you need improvement while capitalizing on your strengths. You will play an active part in your learning experience, as we work together to choose topics, activities, and methods that are most interesting and work best for you.
