I've worked in various nursing homes as an activity director. One thing I implemented in each of my facilities was a needlepoint group where I taught residents who have never learned needlepoint and refreshed skills of people who used to needlepoint, but do not anymore.

After 2-3 30 minute sessions of my class you should have the skill set to crochet a simple scarf, and we only will create more from there!
