I am a nationally certified speech-language therapist who also minored in linguistics. These qualify me to teach English and accent reduction with a fine-tuned ear. I am trained in assessment of language and sound production. In the case of accent reduction, errors are not all just about sounds, but nonverbal communication as well! These greatly affect your ability to be understood by a native English speaker, as are sometimes missed in others who do not have formal training is language and speech assessment. My experiences as a language learner myself have also given me insight on how it is to both learn a language formally through school, and learning a language through experience living in another country. I know what it feels like to have difficulty understanding native speakers until your skills are high enough, and how it can make your brain feel tired just listening to a foreign language all day!
