Hello! I'm Jen and I've been a professional, photojournalistic-style wedding photographer for the past 11 years. I bring a lot of passion to my work, and I love teaching and mentoring photographers one-one-one at all different experience levels. Before I was a photographer, I taught undergraduate Sociology and have always loved teaching. I'm excited at the opportunity to teach something I'm so passionate about again!

I liked Jennifer a lot. She is patient, friendly and a good instructor. While she was not familiar with my camera she was able to learn it quickly. I just wish she had brought visual references to illustrate what she was teaching me. I believe she will for our second class.

Jen is simply fantastic. A few months ago, I hired her for private lessons to help break through some technical and artistic barriers in my photography. Essentially, I was getting inconsistent results and wasn't able to translate the observations about the good shots into techniques for learning from them and leveraging them in the future. From the beginning, Jen was focused on my objectives and concerns, and was able to tailor a curriculum to focus on those aspects. She reviewed my existing work with a great mix of enthusiasm and constructive analysis, and the small amount of apprehension I had about having a professional critique my shots evaporated pretty quickly. Jen is very personable and clearly on your side, which makes the feedback cycle easy and light. With her help, we were able to break down some of the things I liked about my own photography, but wasn't making full or considered use of. We also identified a number of ways in which I could improve bringing my own style into more of the process, both behind the camera and in editing choices. In the field, there's a lot of good dialogue about how to approach a given scene, how to efficiently explore it for non-obvious opportunities, and how to convey a sense of story (one of my particular weaknesses). As one would expect, she has solid technical skills and is able to quickly troubleshoot tricky lighting situations and make suggestions about how to approach exposure/DoF/focal length to align with the intended mood. The feedback is always friendly and typically very pragmatic. I've already found the number of shots making it past the initial cull increasing, at a time when I'm also becoming more critical about what makes for a good shot. Overall, Jen's guidance has had a sizable impact to my photography in a relatively short time. One of the best parts about making it past some of those persistent stumbling blocks is how much more enjoyable my time behind the camera has become. Would definitely recommend her to anyone seeking to improve their own photography, or move into the world of professional photography.

I’ve had multiple opportunities to learn about wedding photography from Jen and every experience has been so positive and helpful. Not only does she help me with technical aspects of shooting but also provides me with any random tip or trick that might make shooting easier. Jen has so much knowledge when it comes to photography and she’s really an amazing teacher. It’s clear that she loves what she does and that she really enjoys teaching! I also want to add that she’s just a great person to be around as well. She’s awesome to just chat and hangout with. It’s always felt so relaxed and comfortable. I highly recommend learning from Jen at any opportunity. She truly is awesome!
