I am a professional artist and arts educator. I graduated from Southern University A & M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with my Bachelor's in Art with honors. My art students can expect to improve each week in their artistic techniques if they apply themselves. Don't rush yourself! It's always important to lay the foundation first when it comes to art and understand that everybody is different. Comparison can kill your confidence. So go with the flow and do YOUR best. I'm here to help any student draw with freedom, confidence, and expression. I teach art students of all different ages and experience levels. I did not formally study art until I attended a visual and performing arts magnet high school for 4 years, and focused on art during my time there before graduating with honors in art. However, I'd been drawing and painting since I was a toddler. The gift was always there. In college, I was formally trained in every area from sculpture to printmaking, drawing to 3D design, and so forth. Drawing was always my passion so that is why this will be the focus. I can teach any medium and have taught them all from pastels, graphite, colored pencils, markers, water soluble pencils, pen and ink, calligraphy, etc. Basic skills needed such as color theory, elements and principles of art, shading techniques, will be taught along with still life studies, drawing from photo reference, grid drawing, and more. Depending on the goals, skill level, and preference of my student of course! As a professional artist I've shown my work in galleries and exhibitions internationally, I serve as the chair to the artist advisory board for a social enterprise named BlkArthouse which worked to make minority artists work more affordable and visible, I'm also a member of the Women's Caucus for Art, Texas Chapter which serves to create social equity in the art world for women. I've been in several publications, published a coloring book on Amazon and created merch as Amazon Creator! I also teach pre-recorded classes on Skillshare, a subscription based e-learning platform. My personal passion is travel. I love the mountains and nature. I also love to spend time with my family, eat good food, and laugh! I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better artist!
