Spanish with Gisela E.

I'm a traveler and also a permanent student. I've lived on three continents and I give completely that experience to my students. I can affirm that if something characterizes my study sessions it's that the student learns not only the formal details of the language, and not only its usage but that they are left with a greater knowledge of the world and my enthusiasm for knowledge. My specialty is intermediate and advanced students, but I can teach other levels. I have approximately 18 years of formal and private Spanish teaching experience. I'm very sensitive to the needs of the student and I try, from the first moment, to inspire confidence in their own learning. I really like working from a lexical approach, as well as dealing with aspects of listening comprehension and prosody (cadence, intonation curve, rhythm, etc.). I think I'm the perfect teacher for those who are at an intermediate or advanced level and need to communicate more complex or specific content, such as those from the business field or those from work, professional, or academic settings. But I'm also extremely patient with beginning students. As a teacher, I listen to the student without interrupting, unless it is essential. I attend to all student concerns and interests by first setting goals. I also guide their learning process toward areas that in my opinion need more attention. I usually do intensive work with the student's difficulties, but interspersing activities geared toward other skills than the ones being practiced. My system is eclectic. As a tutor, I love open chats where the student freely talks about experiences and ideas. I also usually offer them the possibility of dealing with specific topics or to choose from a given series. My students tend to "finally" understand some aspects of Spanish that they have been struggling with from the beginning. Without exception, everyone learns much more about grammar in my courses and, in the same way, they learn the language of everyday life. Pronunciation is one of the aspects that I insist on the most, since it's what allows understanding by Spanish-speaking interlocutors.
