Hi, I’m Dina S.- an experienced ESL tutor for real results.
i offer personalized tutoring for students of all ages and backgrounds.
With 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience and a TESOL license for teaching English to speakers of other languages, I can guarantee a high quality learning experience.
I have a mater's degree in art history and a NYC Board of Education license for grades 1-8. I also founded a career school in New York City.
So, if you want to speed up your reading or conversation skills or need help with job interview preparation with methods that are fun and results driven, I'm here to help.
Contact me through Wyzant today and let's work together to achieve your goals or your child's goals.
I have students from Siberia, South Korea, China, and many other places. We have live chat sessions, share stories, and learn from each other. Elizabeth, one of my students from Beijing, wants to study in the US. We had a live videoconference with her from Beijing to NYU, which was featured in a WestView News article (July 2002).
My main goal is to help you enjoy reading and speaking English, I always find articles and stories that are relevant and interesting to you, and we have lively discussions about them. I also encourage you to tell me about your hobbies, your dreams, and your reasons for learning. I want to make you feel comfortable and confident in your abilities.
If you’re an adult, I can help you master English for job interviews, work or school and overcome your challenges in communicating in everyday situations.
If you’re a child, I can help you improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in English. I want you to feel confident using English in any situation.
I use interesting and multi-media activities to engage my students in learning English. We learn words to songs, watch videos about grammar, read and discuss topics that interest you.
I teach online from my home in New York City or in-person if you live in NYC. Some of my students live in other countries and want to prepare for exams like TOEFL or IELTS.
I also teach ESL to adults and children who have come to live in America. I understand the challenges of learning a new language and culture, as my parents were immigrants from Europe. I teach in person as well.
Here are some testimonials from my students:
• Anastasia from Siberia said: “I recently came to America with my family and I’ve been learning English online with Dina for 3 months now. Dina loves teaching and her classes are always interesting.”
• Seung's parent said: “Dina is very patient and considerate. She has been teaching ESL to my son in grade 6 for a year now. He has improved his grades and his confidence.”
• Teenager Elizabeth IN Beijing says: “Dina’s classes are always very engaging. She has been preparing me for the TOEFL exam for 5 months now. I feel more confident about taking the test.”
