I have had a varied background growing up, from being an Eagle Scout, to holding a black belt in Judo. Growing up in Arizona and being the youngest of three boys from a very musical family, I found classical music and it became my passion. I began with piano at age 9, while also sang in many chur

Picture this....you get home after a long day of work or school, you feel a little stressed out by the world, wishing you had more time to get the endless list of things done and more energy to do them.....
Instead of turning on Netflix and zoning out, you pick up your guitar and play your favorite song.
Feels pretty great right?!

Although many miles apart, Kelvin has fostered a productive, professional relationship with both me and my 8 year old daughter. His ability to connect with her via Skype is a testament to his experience and good-nature. Kelvin praises her smallest achievements at every lesson and encourages her to excel. He teaches her to think beyond the notes on the page and takes every opportunity to make learning an instrument relevant to the real world. Each lesson is fun and upbeat. He is committed to her success and we are very lucky to have such a dedicated teacher."
Overall, very good instructors if you like to improve to an advanced level."
Fawn really knows what she's doing. With a hit song under her belt, songs in films, tv shows and all the appearances/live shows she does, you'd think she would be pretentious snob. She is completely down to earth and eager to share her experiences and career with every one she teaches. One of the things that impressed me about her is the fact that she IS so busy, yet finds time for text messages/phone calls when I've had questions about voice, piano, music contracts, songwriting etc. She has helped undo damage to my vocal chords from a previous teacher and improved my range, taught me proper breathing and vocal technique, and given me a huge boost of confidence. Because of her being a stickler for details, her corrections have made my vocal chords stronger than ever! I no longer get hoarse from singing. She has even showcased me at some of the red carpet events she's at, to help get my face and career out there. She is the real deal. She doesn't waste time and is very result oriented and I appreciate that and so many other things about her. I've had teachers stretch lessons out, making more money, but this instructor clearly teaches because she wants to help people and for the love of it, not for the money aspect. Learning from her and being in her presence is a blessing, she's a gift to all of us who study with her. If you don't need warm and fuzzies, that's cool. Just know the bottom line: She gets you where you've gotta be. Respect!"
Thanks to Jameson, my voice has been freed. I sing strongly, with control, and with passion any chance I get. The confidence Jameson has giving me in my singing voice is quite honestly, priceless."
Playing along with songs can be an effective learning technique, especially for drummers. With the background music in place, you can then practice different drumming styles, as well as practice staying in tempo, if that's something you're struggling with. Here is a recommendation from Jeff F., one of our Chicago drum teachers: As a working musician and teacher I have found playing along with recordings to be a valuable learning tool. Doing this enables you to really get inside …

Want to play faster and improve your drum technique? Try these tips from Detroit, MI teacher Joshua J. to make your drum practice more effective. When it comes to learning drums, there are five questions you should ask yourself: 1. What am I learning and why? 2. Is this natural or forced? (is it relaxed or tense?) 3. Is it easy as pie? If not, then why? 4. Am I making progress? 5. Does it sound the way I want it to? Speed is a big thing for drummers. It’s impressive and it jus …

Whether playing for pleasure or as a professional, there is likely to come a time when you will be faced with a piano examination, such as the ABRSM piano exam. Like any exam, preparation is key. But when the time comes, how can you make sure that everything goes according to plan? Before the Exam In the weeks leading up to your exam, this is when you will want to increase your rehearsal. Focus specifically on the pieces that you will be playing on the day. It can be easier (and more satisf …
