I have been a professional oil painter for 36 years and have taught oil and acrylic painting classes fro over a decade. I teach a casual, fun but serious style class. My goal is to teach the basics of creating a simple strong painting in a semi realistic style. However, my goal is to allow the student to develop their own individual style. Understanding the creative process is also key to making good art.

Hi! Are you frustrated with muddy and poor color choices in your paintings, the inaccurate drawing of your subject, and overall mediocrity? I will help you overcome the fear and frustration of painting with some sound color theory and drawing methods. You can learn to apply colors that are bold and fresh. As artists who continually learn, I believe there is no wrong in exploring colors, When we continue to paint, we learn what didn't work and apply what does work. That is how we improve! The more we practice in small steps and the greater our success!

I am a classically trainer realist oil painter with an MFA and years of experience. I have taught at several ateliers in NYC and internationally through the State Department’s Art In The Embassies programs. I break down the painting techniques of the Old Masters into easy to follow steps and cater the lessons to what the individual student is interested in pursuing. Also— I’m fun! Come paint with me!

I have been a professional painter artist and musician for 10 years. I received my BFA from SMU in Fine Art and Painting and have exhibited my work in galleries, shows, exhibitions and sold it at auction. My teachers have included Steve Wilder, Barnaby Fitzgerald, Bill Komodore, Massimo Lippi, Jay Sullivan, and others.

Plein Air, Still Life, and Figurative works are my specialties, but I have also studied the development of the abstract language.

I'm also acquainted with old master mediums and techniques such as egg tempera, grinding pigments, etc.

Get feedback/advice on your art work by selecting a 30 minute critique. You will receive notes and step by step instructions during your art class. If you would like some home work to help you improve quickly I can also send an email after class with instruction.

I have taught over 500 students how to paint! Each painting lesson is tailored to your interest and where you want to develop skill. My schooling background is in figure painting, modern painting techniques, color theory and composition. I have been trained by masterful painters from all over the world and look forward to sharing all that I have learned with you.
