I graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in June 2007 with a Master in Education (Arts in Education) degree. During my studies I worked in the framework of the Artful Adventures Program (Museum of Fine Arts in Boston), which provides object - based learning and hands on artistic experiences for elementary and middle school kids. My own research was about “Creative Insight in Practice" and "Acquiring English as a Second Language and Developing Self-Esteem through the Idiom of Art". I have more than a two decades-long experience in painting, drawing, printmaking and installation work.

I use digital tools in order to layer text, photos and drawings and combine them to a new work.
Photo and text based collages will often merge into drawings or watercolors and these are the starting point for my large scale oil paintings.

Kerstin is a fantastic teacher. She connected right away with my daughter Chloe who is 8 years old and immediately engaged and had her learning German after 1 lesson. She is punctual and professional. I highly recommend her.

She was absolutely patient and was able to work with and engage my son who has a learning disability. She did a great job making him feel comfortable and after only one session I could see his confidence go up as he continued to draw into the evening. She really enjoys what she does and it shows in the way she worked with my son.

I provide classical instruction in portraiture, still life and landscape in your studio or mine. In this traditional approach to drawing and painting, what will be taught and focused upon are perspective, value and composition in order for the student to develop strong visual language skills. The program of study begins with a specific focus on drawing, since drawing is the foundation upon which all great traditional art is built. Throughout this training, emphasis will be placed on accuracy, or more specifically, seeing and rendering correctly such things as line quality, hard and soft edges, proportion, positive and negative space through abstract form and the use of the full range of values.

About Jeff
I'm a graduate of Dean College in Franklin, MA and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston where I majored in art history and studio art with a focus on portrait painting and illustration. I continued further study at the Andeeva Portrait Academy in Sante Fe New Mexico, the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art in Van Nuys, CA and the Sadie Valerie Atelier in San Francisco.

The program of study for drawing will include: Demonstration of one, two and three point perspective, creating the nine step value scale, cast drawing in charcoal, the still life in charcoal and drawing the portrait. The topic of composition will also be covered. I’ve done commissioned work for Audi, the Norman Rockwell Museum, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the American Repertory Theater, the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, Kessler Financial Ser
vices, Harvard Business School Publishing, Shilo Baptist Church, the Chelsea Soldiers Home and others. Samples of my work are available to view in my profile. Additional samples are available upon request.

I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of classical oil paint skills. I specialize in realism.

About Mariana
I am a professional artist. I've been studying representative fine art at the Art Students League of New York since 2013.

My students can expect to improve week to week in their drawing and painting techniques. While gaining knowledge of the fundamental principles of perception—light, plane-structure, tonal value, perspective, proportion—students will learn to construct images that realistically and accurately interpret objects in space. This solid foundation will enable students to express their personal creative vocabulary more clearly and effectively.

I teach students of all different ages and experience levels.

My personal passion is realism in classical and contemporary art but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better artist!

It was my first time ever doing oil painting. I so much enjoyed the class with Mariana! She was patient and very calm, explained everything in details to me, guided me through every step. I had a lot of fun and I'm also very happy with what we've accomplished at the first class! Totally recommend!

Lessons with Mariana were very helpful. I started as a beginner and she helped me to learn basic theory behind drawing, as well as to develop my skills and gain confidence. I studied graphite anatomical drawing and advanced a lot in that technique since we started a year ago.

Hi! Are you frustrated with muddy and poor color choices in your paintings, the inaccurate drawing of your subject, and overall mediocrity? I will help you overcome the fear and frustration of painting with some sound color theory and drawing methods. You can learn to apply colors that are bold and fresh. As artists who continually learn, I believe there is no wrong in exploring colors, When we continue to paint, we learn what didn't work and apply what does work. That is how we improve! The more we practice in small steps and the greater our success!

About Rita
I have been teaching and painting for a long, loooong time- since 1983, actually! I am also a professional mural artist and painter, and found that my painting improved many years after art school. I was frustrated back then and painting seemed so complicated! Is that you? I figured out, with my own research, the freedom and fun in painting. Your painting will improve week to week as we work together to apply nice color combinations, explore values, shapes, edges and so on. Are you interested in portraits, still lifes, landscapes, animals? Let's start with smaller painting sketches to learn the basics of color, shape and design. Then we will take it from there. You can and will succeed in producing paintings you desire!

I am a classically trainer realist oil painter with an MFA and years of experience. I have taught at several ateliers in NYC and internationally through the State Department’s Art In The Embassies programs. I break down the painting techniques of the Old Masters into easy to follow steps and cater the lessons to what the individual student is interested in pursuing. Also— I’m fun! Come paint with me!

About Eileen
Hello! I moved to Brooklyn fifteen years ago to get my MFA at Pratt Institute; I've been a professional fine artist for my entire adult life and have shown my work extensively in and around New York. I have taught traditional oil painting at local ateliers and I also teach plein air workshops in the Hudson Valley through the Artist’s Workshop Association. In 2018 I was invited by the US Department of State to teach a series of oil painting workshops at an art college in Algiers, Algeria, because one of my paintings hangs in the Ambassador's Residence there. It was an amazing experience! I love talking about painting and drawing and demonstrating what I've learned. For more info, pics, and demonstrations, you can check out my IG (@eileen_murphy_studio) or my website (eileenmurphy.net).

For both drawing and painting, I lead my students thr
ough a series of exercises that teach the fundamentals of observation and execution. My own work is very realistic, so I have the technical skills to demonstrate to students how to reach the goals they want, whether or not they want the results to be exactly true to life. A lot of my students end up making more expressionist work which is great! And some others are interested in making very traditional paintings.

Additional note: I provide materials for beginning painters so that you don’t have to invest in paint and brushes until you know for sure that you want to continue with it. I think that makes it easier for people to get started.

I also teach small group lessons (2-3 people) so message me for that pricing if you have a few pals you want to bring with you!

I wanted to try something new and creative so I picked oil painting. Eileen’s lessons are fun and challenging, I feel like I’m making a lot of progress and I’ll never look at a cup and saucer the same way again! Sometimes during night lessons she even brings snacks.

I start with very basic shapes. a straight line, circle, square & triangle. By using these basic shapes I make drawing and painting simple.

About Darrel
I have been drawing and painting since a very young age. Recently, I decided to make an attempt to teach others. I keep things simple and work at the pace or talent of the student I'm working with.
I can teach students to be free and let the pen, pencil or paint brush flow or I can teach students how to be very precise and detailed. I'm able to teach students both basic and advanced techniques based of their experience and understanding of art.
I have a degree in Graphic Design, Web Design and Interior Design so I'm very familiar with the aspects design and creativity.
I use various techniques that produce results in a simple, fun and stress free way. It seems as if my students improve each and every time they pick up their pencil or brush. I look forward to meeting my next student and making them a better artist.

Experienced teacher of 10 years, specializing in the beginner-intermediate art student! All ages welcome. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Not only will you be creating in no time, but you will be building a strong foundation of basic art and design techniques, and more. Let's get started!

About Angelia
“Art is my breath, my passion, within it you see me.” I have always enjoyed art as a venue for my ideas and dreams. I want to share my passion for art with others who enjoy the beauty of interpretation.

My art and creation is generally created through paintings as I enjoy the expression through oil and acrylic paints used to express my emotions. I also enjoy sketching with pencil and charcoal. I trained in Paris with the best professors, completed my Masters of Fine Arts, shown my work in galleries around the world and won awards that distinguish my work.

I currently teach Art, Graphics, Humanities and Visual Arts at Lees-McRae College and online. I feel painting is a magical experience that I have enjoyed since childhood. Looking at the world through an artist eyes gives one the ability to take from it what you see and create what
you feel. My intention is to create artwork that will allow the viewer to feel the world around them, see the expression of the artist and develop an emotion for what one is viewing.

I will show you how to tap into that emotion, providing you with the techniques for creation and enhancing your ideas on your way of expression.

I feel that art evokes emotion and expression; within it, you will see the artist.
For a great time learning the basics while expressing yourself, contact me to help you tap into your inner creativity!
