Vocal Training

Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra from1985 to 2002, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.
 
A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program that sets a national standard of musical achievement in various fields.

 Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, Toronto and Los Angeles.

Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.

Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.

*** A Sanctuary for Prodigies ***
Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !   

Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.

A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.

Hello!  My name is Louise, and I have a vast amount of teaching experience in diverse subjects.  I am primarily, a performer and voice teacher.  My bachelor's degree is in vocal performance; I have over 2 decades of experience singing vocal solos, choral music, performing musical theatre roles, and competing in auditions and contests.  I have over ten years experience teaching private voice lessons and directing church choral programs.  I love to sing and help others meet their performance and audition goals!

I also have almost 10 years experience as an educator in public schools.  I hold a master's degree in special education, and worked in classrooms with students with intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and behavioral disorders.  This experience gives me an edge that allows me to modify and personalize each lesson based on student demeanor and ability.  

I am also an online English teacher (native speaker).  I hope to make learning English fun and practical based on your goals and purposes for learning.  I use a combination of methods including music-based activities.

I love to sing (yay!) and am a professional singer/songwriter and a vocal coach & have been for many years. Named a top vocal coach in Backstage Magazine, I have coached beginners to pros, children to adult, whether they want to perform, record, just enjoy/fun or eventually pursue a serious singing career. My students have gone on to tour, get signed, do musical theatre (amateur & professional) or just enjoying singing freely with a great technique. They will see themselves making progress and reaching set goals! I am an expert in pop technique (no opera or classical, sorry!), and work with students to preserve and take care of the voice. Her vocals have graced full length CD's, cuts on various records, performances on TV and radio, and gained her a nomination for Best Female Vocalist, All Access Music Awards. She is the author of Vocal Essentials for the Pop Singer: Take Your Singing from Good to Great, from Hal Leonard Publishing. Teri has a Master's Degree in Education and a Bachelors Degree in Speech Pathology. She studied music at Blue Bear School of Music in San Francisco including music theory, vocal technique and vocal performance, guitar and stage performance. She had a dance club hit in the 90's which garnered success on mix shows and dance charts across the country.

She specializes in getting the best out of her students -- giving them a solid vocal technique to let their natural ability shine. Her students will attest to her positive, relaxed and encouraging teaching style.
 
In addition to learning the basics, Teri can help students get their voice in shape for events, school projects/plays, auditions (American Idol etc...), a solo or band project,  and more!

Students can expect a fun lesson with vocal warm-up exercises, and lots of singing, in a supportive environment. Teri works out of her home studio and online. so students can work with microphones and instruments.

Voice lessons build confidence and enthusiasm, and help prepare children for performing in front of others. Singing at a young age develops vocal abilities, but more importantly develops a child's aural abilities (recognizing melodies, harmonies, etc.) as well as the ability to focus, take direction and be creative.

Recording, performing and touring presents unique challenges to singers. By concentrating on breathing, vocal tone, vocal production and tension reduction, warm-up exercises, and range building exercises, these lessons help increase stamina, build vocal tone, and reduce the effects of vocal fatigue for those who sing long hours at a time. 
 
Church / Worship Leading
Singing on praise/worship teams is an art form all of it's own.  Lessons centered around this kind of singing focus on the areas of blending, tone, hearing harmonies, and keeping your part in a group. For the soloist / worship leader, lessons help in the areas of projection, tone, range, runs, and breathing.

Hi there! My name is Beth and I'm a private music lessons instructor. I specialize in customized, encouraging, and engaging instruction for each student, specific to their unique interests, experience level and goals. My teaching experience started primarily with teaching in-person lessons, however, in late 2019 I expanded to online lessons and have since had the privilege of teaching students all across the USA: California, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington, just to name a few. Teaching online has proven to be a very flexible, convenient, and effectual method of teaching and I’m excited to expand my online roster. 

In May 2011, I graduated from Texas Woman's University with my Bachelor's Degree in Music and a minor in Business Management. Music has been my passion since before I started taking piano lessons in third grade, and there was always an innate desire to master the keys. At age fifteen, I taught myself how to play guitar and started writing and performing original songs. In 2013, I became a published songwriter when my songs were produced on my church's Christmas Album ("Who Is This King?").

I have been teaching private piano lessons part-time from my home in 2011, and just a few years later transitioned into full-time teaching in January 2017. Throughout my teaching career, I have instructed over 250 students one-on-one and it is a dream come true to be able to invest all my time and energy into the precious gifts of my students. Teaching is my greatest passion, whether it's of the classical genre, musical theatre, theory mastery, or equipping a student to use their gifts in worship.
