My 8 year old is so enthusiastic about piano. Jean has been able to get right to his level and feed that enthusiasm. We left the lesson and Tyler said he wanted to be a famous pianist like Mozart...thank you Jean for showing us how to start.

Jean is a wonderful teacher. She's dedicated and patient with her students. With a great music background, Jean has given our kids (two of her students) great music & piano techniques/methodology and a way to approach music that is by far superior to that of any of the previous piano teachers. She is agile in her approach to teaching piano with the belief that not one teaching method is applicable to all kids.

This is the first lesson I got to listen to of my son working with Nathan. Usually I'm not home from work. I am really impressed with how much he was able to help my son improve so quickly. I wish we had started this much sooner.

I have experience with all ages from 4 to 65. Each person is different, but age has nothing to do with someone's desire to learn the piano.

About Joan

I started piano lessons when I was about 6 years old. I graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson with a BA in Music Education. After moving to San Diego, I spent the next 20 years or so being a wife and mom and raising 3 kids, one of them a special needs child due to a drowning accident.

Both of my children had their very first piano lessons under the tutelage of Hannah, and Vango Piano Method Book One was one of the first books from which they learned to read music. This book was easy for them to follow and they were never frustrated with the learning process. They always looked forward to their music lessons and even fought over who got to go first! I highly recommend Hannah and her piano method books for any beginner.
Erica
I have two children who have been taken piano lessons with Ms. Vango. She is a very experienced pianist and teacher and is very knowledgeable about piano methods that both appeal to children and also are effective for learning important piano skills in an order that makes sense. My second oldest uses Vango Piano Method Book One and enjoys it. This is a good introduction to piano book for parents who would like to sit with their child and work on a few pages at a time or even for other piano teachers starting their own new beginner students.

"Julie is the BEST!! I took lessons as a child, but had not taken any lessons in over 10 years when I first began lessons with Julie. Almost immediately she was able to help me recall everything I had learned when I was younger. Very knowledgeable and encouraging, makes each lesson a joy! Highly recommended for those who are serious about learning the piano (or anything else I'm sure!)."

"My granddaughter is 6 years old and is a beginner. Ms. Esther B. is a great teacher for beginners. She explains what and how the lessons will be taught. She expresses her expectations of each student. She knows how to work with children. She demonstrates good people skills which are very important when it comes to getting someone to do what he or she needs to do to succeed. My granddaughter enjoyed her first lesson with Ms. Esther B."

"Andrew is a gifted teacher and musician. I was beyond 50 when I started lessons with him, sure there was no way I could actually learn to play the piano. His patience, kindness and expertise overcame my fears and deficit of innate talent. I love his lessons and I enjoy practicing and I can actually play a few tunes!!! He is great at mixing things up - interweaving melodies and theory - and creatively finding new approaches to overcome obstacles."

"My daughters are 10 years old and have been taking piano lessons from Mrs. Jennifer for about three years. They love her! She's kind and incredibly patient.

Because I wanted my daughters' love of piano to develop naturally -on their own time, I wouldn't force them to practice. Now, starting their fourth year of lessons, my daughters enjoy learning, playing, writing music, and they look forward to the recitals. I have very much appreciated Jennifer's patience and understanding of this process. She has helped shape a love of piano that will stay with my daughters forever."
