I love teaching music. I first picked up my first guitar when I was 13, and haven't put it down since! I've had many different teachers over the years, but the ones that helped me grow the most, were the most patient, understanding, and encouraging. These are the values I bring to the forefront of my practice. I believe making music is something that everyone is able to do, when they find the process and conditions that work for them. It is my job to help you discover those things, and have fun in the process!

The guitar is a miraculous instrument because of its distinctiveness and versatility. It can sing lead, or backup the rhythm section. The direction you choose to pursue on the instrument is entirely unique to your experience and perspective. I've learned to create a wide range of sounds on the guitar from blues and rock to folk and soul, by playing with many different types of musicians over the years. I look forward to helping you learn the patterns and principals of music ...

About Scott

Hello fellow music lover! My name is Scott, and I'm a musician with 15+ years of performance experience. I've studied performance at Berklee College of Music and performed in various configurations from funk/soul ensembles, to folk-rock bands and I write my own music that I perform as a solo art

Scott is a patient and supportive teacher. He helped me tap into my musical intuition while also supporting a practical understanding of music theory. Working with Scott felt like having a mentor, rather a teacher, to support me on my musical journey.
Kelly
Scott taught me introductory drums. Scott is warm, funny, and adaptable - he made learning fun and easy for me. I didn't feel dumb when I made mistakes, in no small part because Scott was very encouraging and pointed out the things I was doing well!

Another reason to take lessons with Scott - he's incredibly talented and plays multiple instruments. For example, I wanted to practice playing drums in a "band" setting, so Scott grabbed an electric bass and we started jamming.

10/10 would recommend, especially if you like laughing a lot while you learn a new skill!

Hello! I have been teaching guitar for over 7 years now. Form beginners to advanced students I make it my duty to find the students interests and help them develop their own sound. As a Berklee College of Music graduate I have studied composition and music production, skills that I am happy to teach any student. In addition to teaching guitar my students have the option to learn music theory, as well as recording and mixing original compositions that we develop together in class and as homework assignments (DAWs - Logic & Protools). My specialities include Blues, Classic Rock, Jazz & electronic beat production.

About Farrokh

I have been playing guitar, piano, bass, ukulele and drums for 11 years now (teaching for 7 years - Acoustic & Electric). As a child I started playing pop music, then I became obsessed with classic rock music (Guns & Roses, Iron Maiden, ACDC, etc). Soon after I started playing a lot of Modern Rock

I'm not young, and I'm hard to teach music theory to, but he was patient, and is helping me figure a way into learning important stuff that I find kinda dry and not fun to practice. (I'm a good player, but music theory is very challenging to me.)

I have been teaching guitar for 1 year and my students have been able to create and write their own songs, play in bands, and perform out. Within the first few lessons, you will be able to learn how to form and learn chord names and as time goes on you will be able to play full songs. I specialize in genres such as pop/rock/folk and provide beginner level books for students to work on. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and cannot wait to meet you!

Neguine teaches piano to my two children, ages 8 and 6, and she’s been wonderful. She comes to our house and immediately the house is a calm friendly place to learn music. She’s patient with my kids who love piano but are still little, and she has a good sense of humor when they want to try something a little quirky. They also have been making great strides with sightreading, and their eagerness to learn more has only increased. Neguine also does not rush the kids: If a child needs to repeat part of a lesson for another week as she is good about making sure kids reinforce what they’re learning, which is something I appreciate, and my kids have learned to appreciate that too. I highly recommend her!

He is professional and patient yet he meets you where you are. I had played piano many years ago and he quickly assessed where I am today and asked what I wanted to accomplish at this point. He showed me things that I was never taught all those years ago. He is kind and so easy to work with. Can't say enough about him. Wasn't sure if I could play again after so many years. I have had hand surgery and can't wait to continue my lessons. He showed me that I can. Great for this old lady, I mean elderly person.

"In more than 30 years of off and on guitar lessons, I've had a lot of teachers. Trevor is the best instructor I've met -- by far. In the first lesson, he figured out my skill level, interests, goals and probably my maximum capabilities. He sent me home that day with tangible and workable exercises (not the general and intangible stuff you usually get), and they worked. In two months, I've made more progress than I have in years.

Trevor has a wide range of musical interests, so it doesn't matter what kind of music you like - he can teach it. That's important if you don't know what you want or get bored and like to switch things up.

But the best thing about taking lessons from Trevor is that it is clear he likes teaching, and that he's very good at it. I surprised him once by bringing a 7 year old want to be guitarist to my lesson. A fast hour later, I left with the 7 year old knowing how to play a simplified version of his favorite song -- and he'd never played guitar before. Trevor knew how to teach him even though he had no warning or preparation, and he inspired the 7 year old to practice so he could go back for more lessons.

This city is full of great musicians and great teachers. It is rare to find one person, like Trevor, who is both. If you're reading this, then you're looking for a great guitar teacher who can make a difference in your playing. You can stop reading and stop looking. Trevor motivates, encourages and teaches, and makes it all fun. He's the teacher everyone is looking for. I wish I'd started lessons with him long ago."

"I have been learning guitar with John for past 3 months and it is a great experience. John is very knowledgeable and patient to guide me with the much more efficient path to learn play with songs. I was trying to learn from books and YouTube videos for past 1 year, but much more improvements were made after two lessons with John! I also love his teaching styles very much: trying to explain WHY things work the way it is (e.g., music theory) instead of give a lot of "recipe level" exercises you can get from a book. I would strongly recommend him as a guitar teacher to any level!"

"I have had one lesson with David, and it is enough to tell that he is a great teacher. He clearly knows how to play guitar. He is both encouraging and firm. He explained to me the expectations for my practice and what he wants me to learn by next week, but was also very understanding whenever I made a mistake. I told him about my experience in other hobbies, and from that he was able to use analogies that made sense to me that would help me learn the techniques he was teaching. I am very happy to have David as my guitar teacher."

"I first heard Nick play about 4 years ago and a friend of mine took lessons from him. When I decided to start lessons, I naturally decided to go to him. As I went to his place, I thought, "Oh wow! I forget to ask my friend whether he's a good teacher!" I need not have worried. He's superb. He focuses on musicality: listening, hearing, enjoying; and then pulls out the technical things you could improve at and delves deep. I leave every lesson feeling great, and (proof of the pudding) people I jam with comment on how much my playing has improved. I'm an "advanced intermediate" player, but Nick also teaches kids, beginners, etc. In the age of coronavirus, our lessons are on Skype, and they are great, too. He comes out of jazz and plays trad as well as modern, but he also has an Americana band, and he knows classical, and the student before me is learning Hendrix-style rock. So no matter what direction you want to go, Nick is your man!"

5 Reasons My Guitar Might Be My Best Friend

Music can be a very rewarding experience - and a personal one, at that. Most musicians spend a LOT of time with their instrument, often baring their souls in the form of melodies and lyrics. If you treat your guitar like part of the family - or your best friend - you'll relate to what Gresham, OR guitar teacher Ed P. has to say here...   Did you know that some of the old blues players named their guitars?  Some of them were even rumored to sleep with their guitars.  I’m not saying tha …
