After earning my BA in Economics at Harvard, I followed my true passion and began playing music professionally. I'm a Berklee Music College Alumnus, and I did learn a lot there. My guitar heroes: Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jerry Garcia, Eric Clapton, Jimi Paige, John Lee Hooker, Duane Allman and Dickey Betts. I love all the inspired by the greats, but as well as listening to my favorite guitarists, I also listen to just about everything under the sun, and appreciate all types of music.

Gregg was my musical instructor during the early 1980ties. What I learned in a few lessons with him was more that I could have expected. I was primarily focused on percussion, of which his vast knowledge was highly dynamic. I learned about poly-rhythms, Indian ti-hies, and complex time signatures. He had available much reference material that he provided me. And over the years his musical insights have not only supplemented my inquiries, but made me a better musician and person. I hope you have a chance to study with Gregg, as you will be introduced to a new and better way of musicianship!

I am a string specialist. That means I teach and play violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, ukulele and piano. I earned B.A. earned from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley Colorado where I was a double major in classical guitar and double bass. In my senior year I was the recipient of the Annual Concerto Contest where I performed the "Concerto in A Major" on double bass with the University orchestra for the spring concert. I have played in both professional and semi-professional orchestras in Colorado and Arizona. I believe that any student will practice more if he or she likes the music they are playing. Periodically I will ask a student to give me a name of a piece of music that they would like to learn how to play. I notate it for them, often simplifying the rhythm and chords in Finale NotePad and give it to them free of charge. I teach students how to play music on their given instrument. Not just how to play the instrument but working on ...

"Barbara is an excellent teacher. She is very encouraging and positive. She makes the process fun by focusing on learning songs and allowing the student to pick the songs the student wants to learn. We focus on the basics--playing the right chords, singing on key and choosing a strumming pattern that fits the song. In the several months we have been working together I have found that I have improved dramatically in all three areas. Previously, on my own I had a great deal of trouble making progress. In addition to learning to play the guitar she has helped me tremendously with singing, which I never thought I could do at all. I have really enjoyed the experience."
