I have been a professional painter artist and musician for 10 years. I received my BFA from SMU in Fine Art and Painting and have exhibited my work in galleries, shows, exhibitions and sold it at auction. My teachers have included Steve Wilder, Barnaby Fitzgerald, Bill Komodore, Massimo Lippi, Jay Sullivan, and others.
Plein Air, Still Life, and Figurative works are my specialties, but I have also studied the development of the abstract language.
I'm also acquainted with old master mediums and techniques such as egg tempera, grinding pigments, etc.
My name is Perry and I am a professional classical, flamenco and electric guitarist performing and recording in the Dallas area. I studied with Robert Guthrie at SMU for many years, as well as Brad McLemore of "Soul Food Cafe" and professional jazz musician Chuck Pangburn at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
I am familiar with all styles of guitar from fingerpicking to Bebop/Swing. I teach using a foundation in classical/flamenco style and technique. I have found that for my own career as a recording artist in both the classical, acoustic and electric guitar fields that the classical/flamenco styles are the most useful for developing and training the hands to become a consummate professional.
I teach beginner to advanced students of any age. I also can provide pro and amateur electric g
uitarists an in-depth study of correct hand postures and left-hand/right-hand technique which can help to refine their overall technique and stylistic approach. I can also advise professional electric guitarists on their electronics, effects pedals, and amplifiers to achieve their own individual sound. I also teach Bass, and reading the Bass clef.
My teaching specialties include: Solfeggio, Sight Reading, Music Theory, Scales and Modes, Left and Right Hand Technique, Blues Progressions, Jazz Standards the Classical Repertoire, Flamenco styles, techniques and repertoire, DADGAD and other alternate tunings, and the works of Sor, Giuliani, and Carcassi, Brouwer, Aguado, Villa-Lobos, Sabicas, Paco de Lucia, Pat Martino, John Fahey, and Davey Graham.
I have an in-depth knowledge of the stylistic approaches and techniques of such guitarists as Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, Randy Rhoads, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew to name a few, and I can teach you the components they use to build their signature licks.
As a rule I only transcribe to give the students examples for lessons. I intend for all of my students to grow as musicians, so my lessons do not consist solely of transcribed solos and riffs.
I have a vast library of music, so I can draw from my own resources to teach you, or from a method of your choosing.
My schedule has a few openings right now. I do teach outside of my stated teaching radius, but ONLY at the 60 minute rate.
I teach people of all ages, from children to adults. I believe everyone is on an even keel, if they are willing and eager to learn.
*** Lesson Details *** Emphasis on classical posture and technique. Emphasis on sight-reading. All students learn to play basic blues and jam Technique varies depending on the particular style the student wishes to learn.
*** Travel Equipment *** I can provide a limited number of learning materials such as exercises, listening or practicing CD on occasion. However, I feel that it is the student's responsibility to provide their own guitars, and the bulk of their own learning materials and necessary electronic equipment. This can include footstools, music stands, method books, amps, cables, pedals, etc.
*** Specialties *** I've been playing guitar for 25 years, and this has given me the time to study, perform, and perfect many styles of guitar playing.
I studied classical and flamenco guitar with Robert Guthrie for 4 years before and after my studies in the SMU program. I've also played in jazz and rock ensembles since the age of 14. I studied with Chuck Pangburn, pro jazz cat, and Brad McLemore, an indie rock songwriter, early on in my studies as an adolescent.
I encourage most students to learn to play on a classical or nylon-string guitar early on in order to develop proper technique, posture, sensitivity, and sensibility. I also encourage all students to learn to sight-read at a very early point in their studies. Once, this hurdle is cleared many other challenges are easily surpassed.
Presently, I am developing a new method which incorporates solfeggio, blues and popular music forms, and improvisational playing. I also am exploring the vanguard of new guitar technology such as the Vo-96, analog effects, and various guitar synthesizers.
I try to introduce an understanding of music theory early on so that students develop a full comprehension of not only the written language of music, but also, the sonic language of music.
Great personality and knowledge of music, really makes the lessons very personalized, fun and interesting. Definitely a good choice!!

Perry takes the time to explain flamenco and related styles deeply and thoroughly. He also provides detailed micro-scale feedback on hand/arm placement, orientation, range and which muscle groups to engage. But more than the technical, he has an awesome vibe and makes learning guitar quite an enjoyable experience.
Students will identify a place that is special to them and represent the place and what makes it special through words and oil painting “My students love this program! Truly, what an amazing gift this has been to our art community! Never have I felt so competent in incorporating art integration into my curriculum.”
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis. I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham. I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system. Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc.... The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”
*** Lesson Details *** I use Suzuki and traditional method for my students... for Suzuki beginner they will play a song in four days....
*** Studio Equipment *** In-Studio- Lessons in separate music lesson room, piano and violin are available. Students and parents will enjoy comfortable and clean studio environment with recent remodeled new hard wood floor and studio patio window over looking at beautiful garden. Free WiFi available for parents while waiting during the lesson appointment. University of St Francis Joliet- can teach in rehearsal rooms at the university. Online class at world class teaching studio
*** Travel Equipment *** violin, viola, cello, piano and guitar
*** Specialties *** I specialize in Suzuki teaching method for beginners, traditional conservatory method for intermediate and Royal conservatory recital program for advanced level students..I also teach orchestration program to help students prepare their auditions for major symphonies through out the country including Chicago symphony orchestra etc...
I've been instructing small and large groups of painters for several years. I love to see people get creative. I've taught beginners as well as long as you have a little artistic talent (even if undiscovered) I can teach you to paint. In order to paint with oils, you must have a little experience painting so I don't recommend beginner level. You may be a beginner at oils, but you should have already painted before. I can teach brush techniques and various subject matters - Abstract, impressionist, still life, portrait (intermediate only) and landscapes/seascapes.
I love art and I am passionate about making things beautiful. That spills over into Graphic design, Painting and more: I have 20+ years as a graphic designer, photographer 10+ years, artist/painter. I have been instructing for over 6 years. All of my artistic positions led me to run a print shop for several years so I know what you need to prep files for printing, photography, page layout, web and much more so that your files meet industry standards. If your a fast learner, I can go at a faster pace, if you need more time, I am fine with that too. My goal is for you to learn well, advance and put the skills I teach you to use. Then we will layer that info and move on. I'll incorporate reviewing what we worked on before in the future lessons. I want you to be able to put to practice what I teach you so that you can successfully manage on
your own in that area.
I love being outside, I love the water and get inspired by nature. I am not a camping type person but could sleep outside nightly (on a screened in porch, LOL). I love to enjoy life and want you to enjoy learning something new as well.
Nicole professionally layed out, designed, and printed the obituary of my husband using Adobe Photoshop. Her helpful, yet sensitive suggestions regarding picture arrangements on the pages of the obituary were appreciated. She was timely and easy to work with. I highly recommend her as an instructor.
Painting is a great creative outlet for people to spend time relaxing and make something beautiful that brings you pride and joy. Anyone can paint! All it takes is time and a willingness to make mistakes and learn from them. I’ve been painting for 8 years and teaching for 1. I welcome all students who are interested in picking up painting as new hobby or returning after a long time away. We’ll build out your painting techniques and color theory so you can paint from real life or something abstract.
I have a bachelors degree in printmaking and oil painting and spent some time in Florence, Italy studying painting and drawing by studying the High Renaissance masters. Currently I draw and paint in my spare time. I love teaching art as a way to connect with other artist and creative people who like talking about and creating art.
Through introducing or reviewing the fundamental principles in art and applying those to the lessons and exercises I assign for after class hours, you’ll see yourself improve week after week and gain more confidence in your artistic ability. I create a custom syllabus for you to review and work in things you’d like to try, certain mediums or subject matter to make it more appealing to you.
Making art should be fun and restorative! I’m very flexible in meeting your needs and speed at which you want to lea
Whether you are wanting to learn how to paint using acrylic paints because it is something you have always wanted to learn or you are looking to learn new techniques, I am here to guide you! Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. Not only will you be painting in no time, but you will be building a strong foundation of color theory, drawing techniques, hand sight coordination techniques, and more. I have been painting for over fifthteen years in a variety of scales including large murals to small canvases. I am as eager to share basic to advance techniques as you are to learn. Self expression and painting techniques are a tool nobody can take from you once you have learned and embraced the art of painting. I have a degree in Art Practice from UC Berkeley and have taught 2nd grade students and adults as well. Let's get painting!
I am a professional working artist and I am also a site coordinator for an Expanded Learning program here in Riverside. I obtained a degree in Art Practice from UC Berkeley where I specialized in multimedia installations that included large scale paintings, sculptures, and original music/audio. Due to the versatility in my own work from large to very small scale paintings I have acquired techniques and skills for every scale in between. I am a strong believer in self expression and visual literacy which gets stronger with the formulation of concepts one builds through inspiration for each painting. I enjoy teaching and learning what my students' interests are and what motivates them. I can help you learn specific skills for abstract paintings to detailed portraits. Through research I have also learned that individua
ls benefit greatly from creative freedom thus performing better in other academic subjects, learning healthy ways of expression, and mentally feel fulfilled through the therapeutic effects of painting. If you are looking to work with someone who loves what they do, who is patient, motivational, and can teach you basic to advanced skills in painting, drawing, music, and Spanish send me a message and we can begin your learning journey!
The first lesson went very well with my daughter. Belinda was methodical in her teaching and approached the lesson with my daughter’s interest in mind. During the lesson, Belinda was able to actively engage my daughter the whole time, and more importantly, her teaching revived my daughter’s interest in drawing. She has already devised future plans to have my daughter practice sketching noses, eyes, and ears so that my daughter may draw the human face later with more realistic details.
I have been a professional oil painter for 36 years and have taught oil and acrylic painting classes fro over a decade. I teach a casual, fun but serious style class. My goal is to teach the basics of creating a simple strong painting in a semi realistic style. However, my goal is to allow the student to develop their own individual style. Understanding the creative process is also key to making good art.
My name is Dan. The only thing that I love more than painting is teaching students how to paint. I call my teaching method, "serious play". In other words, I want the students to learn something of value during each class, but also to enjoy the creative process that is key to making a successful painting.
Keep the brushes wet, make every stroke count! Very patient - you’ve just got to do it. Been invaluable in guiding the composition - he can’t hold the brush for you! For a “left brained” person like myself I need to get the “slap”!😄

Terrible! Missed an appointment, limited knowledge, poor teaching skills. Would avoid..
Painting with oils is very much its own endeavor. It has its quirks. But every artist creates a self-specific process within the confines of oil painting's "rules". I work mainly in oils currently and concentrated on painting during my time in undergrad. I can show you how to manipulate this medium to get it to do what you want, as well as how to back off, to let your own hand and the material do what *they* will. Push & pull. My subject info under "Painting" is still applicable here, but I appreciate the distinction for oils. They really are so.
I would also like to add that for this subject, I am increasing my prices slightly. Frankly, oil painting set up / process has more ... fuss to it. In other words, getting prepped to complete a still life drawing takes far less time than an oil painting of the same subject. Also oil paint is simply a more expensive medium to use. You will notice in galleries and museums that this is why oil paintings are always the big ticket items. And as
I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. My main areas of concentration are drawing and painting, but I am also trained in printmaking, photography, sculpture, etc. Being an artist means being a lot of things. You are not someone with just a hobby; you are an engineer, mathematician, planner, risk taker, designer, scientist. The list goes on. I dedicate my life to problem-solving. This is what art is. I would love to share my knowledge and be able to continue to support my creative life by supporting the drive for success in others.
I have really no age limit in terms of students. If you are a parent looking for a teacher for a child/ren, that's great, we could have some fun constructing and working on anything from still lifes of their favorite toys to acrylic paintings that touch on color relationships. If you you
rself are looking to strengthen your drawing from nature or learn how to build a realistic self-portrait, that's great too. I'm willing and happy to do anything from spending time sculpting with a senior citizen to discussing and working on conceptual painting with a student in need of more outside fuel and support for their creative fire. I believe that teaching to think like an artist is just as important as teaching technical ability. I've become adept at both of these skills in my four years at the University of Dayton, and I am so excited to share with and learn from you in return!
Really great with my daughter and going to be signing up for more!

My daughter and I took drawing lessons with Mary, and it was a great experience. She adapted her plan to what we wanted to learn and guided us through the creative process. Mary was patient and gave great constructive feedback. I would recommend her to everyone!
Whatever your skill level, however fast or slow you want to go, I want to help you to become a better artist and enjoy it while you’re learning! What we cover in your lesson will be determined by your level of expertise. If you are just starting out with oils, we will discuss some important things to understand about the colors, mediums, how to set up your palette and some different ways of applying paint, etc. If you already have some experience with oil painting, we will pick up with whatever areas you would like to improve on. If you are interested in painting the human figure or portraits in particular, we can discuss some important ways to go about painting flesh tones. There are also some little known tips I want to tell you about that will be useful to artists of any skill level!
I will share with you any suggestions that I have for technique or different ways of approaching your painting that may help you with whatever areas you’re struggling with. We can focus on how to ...
I’ve been painting with oils for almost three decades, and drawing for as long as I can remember. I’ve been a full time fine artist for over a decade now. I’ve been doing guest demos and teaching private and group lessons for many years, for various subject matter and age groups.
After graduating from Tyler School of Art at Temple University with a major in Painting, I had jobs making signs by hand, doing T-shirt designs, in a graphic design studio with clients like M&M Mars, Claritin and Revlon. As a freelance artist, I did logos, movie poster illustration, album art and packaging design, and I even scored and created sound effects for some short films. Yes, I play keyboard as well.
For my fine art, I’ve worked in many different mediums including watercolor, acrylics, digital, ceramics, sculpture, metal casting and photography, but pa
inting with oils and drawing are my most preferred ways of creating. I’ve painted and drawn many different kinds of subjects, but the figure is my favorite. I have worked from photo reference and from life (something right in front of me) as well as from my imagination; the range of styles that I have used have gone from photorealism all the way to cartoons. I am proficient in Photoshop, which I currently use often to create composite images as reference for my paintings. My paintings have been displayed in many shows across the country, and have sold internationally.

"I can't say enough about Monica. She is able to bring out the best in her students and allow them to express their talent . Her bright outlook and encour
