I've had to record my own band's albums for years, and have recorded a lot of local bands as well. Mixing and producing has become a huge passion of mine since the first time I learned what a compressor could do. Letting the music shine through while maintaining clarity and punch is an art that I love teaching.

About ryan

Hi, my name is Ryan and I would love to teach you how to play guitar. I've been playing for over 10 years and have been gigging for a little less than that in my band. Over the years I have gained a lot of experience performing on stage and teaching to people of all ages. If you want to shred, jam,

Ryan was great! He's obviously a talented guitarist and he is very laid back and makes you feel comfortable. He shows you in detail what you need to do to become a better guitar player. My ONLY advice, and the reason he doesn't get 5 stars, is I think he should have more visual aids with his lessons. For example, write down the different scales or transcribe the first several measures of a song. Then, one has something to refer back to when you are practicing and invariably get stuck. Other than that, I would highly recommend Ryan as a guitar teacher!

I have been studying saxophone since 10 years old, and this is my primary instrument. I studied under Ryan Muncy and I am currently studying with Jessica Maxfield, both earned Doctorates in saxophone performance at Northwestern for classical saxophone. I have been playing jazz since I picked up the saxophone and have studied under numerous musicians at Northern Illinois University including Geof Bradfield, Fareed Haque, Reggie Thomas, and many others. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience!

About Lexi

I am a current TA for Music Theory and can assist with AP Music Theory homework. I can also design a syllabus with assigned practice and readings. I can teach beginners the basic foundations such as intervals, major/minor keys, and the circle of fifths all the way up to more advanced musicians, who may need to work on principles of post-tonal theory, set theory, and Schenkerian analysis for homework and exams.

"Learning to sing can be daunting. There are no two ways about it. Between baring your soul to another human being while allowing yourself to be completely vulnerable, to learning to love the sound of your own voice, it can be discouraging at times. But what I love about Francesca is that she won't let you doubt yourself for a second. She pushes you to realize your potential while instilling confidence through constructive encouragement. As I beginner, I find that my environment plays an important role in how I learn, and practice. The type of environment your get one on one with Francesca is both nurturing and stimulating. Learning to sing with her is teaching me how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable and I always wake away from our lessons standing a little bit taller. The only thing that could match Francesca’s positive, loving spirit is her wealth of knowledge and experience. You would be hard pressed to find a musician of her caliber who possess the same qualities and humility. I am honored to be her student and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me!

Best teacher ever 10/10"

"Great Patient Teacher!

Jason is great! I am in my late 30's with a busy family, and Jason is willing to work around my schedule. I don't have much time to practice, but he is very patient. He molds a lesson to my ability to learn, and gives me assignments to work on based on where I'm at with my experience. He is prompt and follows up with your questions quickly and always willing to help. He explains lessons in detail, and provides positive evaluation. I would highly recommend Jason to be your Guitar teacher!"

"Paul makes our chorus look and sound professional. He is without a doubt the
best director our community chorus has ever had and I have been in the chorus since 1989 and have been singing in various groups since I was in sixth grade.
He gives us expert technical direction and he makes you feel at ease when he
gives you suggestions on how we can perfect our performance. He took the time
out of his busy schedule to help me personally perfect a solo I performed for our
recent concert. I look forward to future concerts under his expert directions."

"I've been seeing Ahmad for about 2-3 months now, and thought a review might be in order to help those looking for guitar lessons.

First off I'm an intermediate player, who has successfully avoided theory since I started playing. Coming to Ahmad for some help to hit the next level, he's cunningly introduced theory into the curriculum, but made it fun to do so with creative exercises I can take home and work on. For the last month I've seen my understanding of playing the guitar improve, and he's also helped with the creative side using the tools I have at my disposal.

I've been through a few teachers in my time, and Ahmad's understanding, patience and vim for guitar really shine through. Would definitely recommend for whatever stage you're at."

"Aaron is a talented instructor. He has worked with our son for more than 2 years teaching him cello and music theory. Aaron has the gift of being an outstanding musician, but also the gift of being able to impart that knowledge to others in a meaningful way, such that even young children and teens learn easily from his instruction. We have recommended Aaron to others and he is equally as good with adults. His manner is professional, he takes pride in the accomplishments of his students and is dedicated to the success of his students."

Advantages & Disadvantages of a Fretless Guitar

Fretless instruments are not uncommon in the world of music, however, a fretless guitar is an instrument that isn't often mentioned. The fretless guitar lacks the frets that one would traditionally see on a guitar. This means that there is no interruption in the string from the bridge, up the neck of the guitar. The lack of frets create an entirely unique, warm, but less amplified sound that works across all types of music. In order to truly understand what a fretless guitar is, it is first …
