About Sarah
First of all, thank you for taking a look at my profile! I know you probably have a lot of teachers to choose from on this fabulous website. Here are a few reasons why you should study with me!

1) My experience as a teacher: I have been teaching both privately and at music schools for over 6 years. I have experience teaching private voice lessons and conducting choirs.

2) My experience as a performer: I currently sing and perform in the Chicago area. I know how to prepare you for auditions and performances because I myself am performing and auditioning.

3) My students: Several of my students can be seen singing in choirs or performing leading roles theaters in the Chicago area and are represented by talent agencies such as Gray Talent Group. Also, just this past year, I helped one of my students gain acceptance to ChiArts, a p
erforming arts school that only accepts 10% of its applicants.

4) I make it fun! Here is a quote from one of my reviews:
“Exactly what anyone would need to gain knowledge about the mechanics of singing and she makes it fun, too”

It is my goal to help every one of my students:

1) develop a healthy singing technique that will bring longevity to your career or hobby.

2) learn music efficiently and independently.

3) develop good practice habits.

4) learn basic ear training/sight singing.

If that sounds like something you would like to learn, click the green button on my profile to book lessons with me. If you are not quite ready to book, feel free to ask me a question.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
I've been studying voice for 10 years and teaching consistently for over 6 years. I received my M.M. from the Chicago College of Performing Arts and my B.M. from Wheaton College. Since graduating in 2013, I have been working and performing in the Chicagoland area. Some performance highlights include but are not limited to performing with Light Opera Works, CCPA's production of the Chicago Premier of Daron Hagen's Amelia, and performing with the Grant Park Chorus.

I look forward to working with you!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide books. I expect my student to provide a piano.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in operatic singing. I received my training in opera; however, I also have training and performance experience in musical theater. I believe I am well equipped in several genres.

About Keanon
I love everything about teaching! I love music; it is my life. I sleep, breathe and dream music. I am a Columbia University Chicago graduate; I graduated with a degree in Music with a concentration in Classical Voice. I have performed in numerous operas and musicals, as well as, sung on Gospel Cruises all around the world. In my eyes, the student is the main focus so whatever issues, concerns or request the student may have I will treat them with priority. I am all about strengthening the natural born talent and making my students the best vocalist they can be. I'm here to serve the students and that is what I will do until they are confident in their gift...music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I take music very seriously but at the same time I like my lessons to be fun and a joyous experience. I am very patient and helpful with any strugg
les that may seem too hard to the student. I will start my students off with the basic vocal warm ups and then move on to material that they would like to cover and if so the student doesn't have material to cover, I will present them with material. Being a singer is not easy at all, so I will challenge my students by giving exercises that challenge them to sing for proficient. I will also bring in material that is brand new and ask the students questions about the piece. The student is in the lesson to learn everything about music, so any type of material that I feel will benefit them and help them move closer to their goal, I will definitely present to them. After 3 to 6 months students will be able to sing in the 3 minor keys and the major key. The student will also have knowledge and know how to sing at least 3 different modes. The singer will know how to read basic sheet music and perform it with solfege. The singer will also have 4 songs of my choice or their choice mastered and ready to perform in front of an audience. Lastly, the singer will have knowledge of proper breath control while performing, usage of a microphone, and intonation.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano/ Keyboard
Music Stand
Water

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical, gospel and R and B singing.

Keanon is a GREAT teacher/artist/musician/mentor

I've been working with Keanon for almost a year now. Aside from being an amazing vocalist himself, he does everything he can to help students reach their full potential and find their voice. He makes lessons fun while constantly keeping you challenged. There's always encouragement from him to strive to be better, which can really bring the best out of singers. Whether you're simply singing for hobby, performing for shows/auditions, or ready to record, Keanon has something to offer to any aspiring musician. He has a passion and love for music and understands it's a gift that must be shared with the world.

Keanon did a great job with catering to each singer's style in the group workshop. He is highly knowledgeable about singing and gives great pointers to make your song sound better. I highly recommend a vocal session with him if you plan singing for an audition, a performance, or if you just want to sing for fun!

Brittany is absolutely one of the most delightful instructors I've been lucky enough to encounter. I came to her as an adult knowing nothing about either music or violin. In the months I've been taking lessons with her, I feel very proud of what I've learned so far.

Her home studio is beautiful and warm. She always greets me with a smile and knows exactly what our lesson plan and goal for the day will be. Brittany is extremely patient whenever I struggle to grasp a concept, and enthusiastically answers any question I can think to ask. That said, she isn't afraid to push you to try, either, which I very much appreciate!

Brittany is a lot of fun to work with, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her as an instructor.

About Charles
I was born as a gifted pianist and composer and destined to love music for a long time.

When I first started piano, I had gone through at least 6 piano teachers, including the toughest one, Emilio del Rosario. After starting to study piano at college-level, I earned a BM in Piano at Roosevelt University, and got MM and DMA degrees in Piano at the University of Illinois. I grew up with a very strong classical music background, and gradually, I was able to acclimate to non-classical styles later, including jazz, folk, pop, and rock.

Inspired by J.S. Bach and Robert Schumann, I also at least composed piano pedagogy pieces of my own for the intermediate levels, including "Sad Waltz in D Minor", and "Hungarian Rhapsody in E Minor", in addition to composing a lot more traditional piano compositions.

I also can teach music appreciation, p
iano literature, music theory/composition, and even some music history as well as applied piano. My focus would be on advanced students but I am still open to all levels of piano ability.

I also have a dance background, so this will help me greatly in my music teaching style as well.

Charles is a maestro on the piano, a truly phenomenal talent. Just hearing him play is motivating inspiration to a student-- to listen to him perform, one realizes what the potential exists in the human talent. He is a sensitive and caring person who has a sincere passion for music and passing the skill on to others. He is well-versed in theory and technique, but is also delighted to share his love for more experimental and avant-garde modes --pushing boundaries and exploring new territories, should the student's interest venture that way. He lets the student direct what genre and composers s/he wants to learn about. Charles is a joy and an uplifting spirit to be around! His knowledge of piano and music is a tremendous resource. He is a cherished star of the Chicago underground music scene, as well as a skilled accompanist, and a seasoned professional church hymn player-- but he is modest enough to not let his reputation distract him during his lessons, where he is a serious teacher, eager to share his knowledge with others.

I'm a dad, music lover, collector of Funko Pops! I grew up playing piano and drums, then specialized in drums thru HS where I studied with some top names in CA, several of which are still big names in the industry today. I picked up Trumpet and, after marching 3 yrs with a DCI Champion Drum Corps (yes I won DCI) I focused on Trumpet performance in college and then 12 years in the U.S. Navy Band.

YEARS of performing and thousands of gigs later, I left the service and now I'm looking to add more students to my schedule. I have taught many students privately over the years while performing.

I have studied Trumpet with professors and performers in major orchestras. While looking for a teacher, I value a highly-experienced instrumentalist who knows the ins-and outs of getting success with that horn (as opposed to an education major tha
t can show how to hold a trumpet and push buttons)

Hope to meet you soon!
