Singing is the only instrument you are born with, and it is a whole body activity! Together, we will shape the path for your success in becoming a vocalist. I have been teaching singing for nearly 10 years, and my students have gone on to receive scholarship entry into the Chicago Music Academy, Chicago High School for the Arts, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and even Concordia University, in addition to receiving numerous awards at various music competitions.
In the beginning lessons, we will focus on finding your comfortable singing range, learning vocal warm-ups, and different stretches to help relax for singing. As you progress, we will learn about vowel shapes, and music reading. It is very important that every musician, no matter what instrument, has a good background in music reading! For young singers, I will start with the Disney Solo Book for Kids and/or Folk Songs for the Solo Singer. For more advanced students, I will use various books, including The First Book of ...

My promise to students--if they follow my advice, they will be successful! Cello lessons with me are informative, productive, and geared toward empowering the student's knowledge of the cello. I also encourage students when faced with a problem to slow down, think about what they are doing physically and change their approach if needed.
I am a professional cellist who has been teaching and freelancing for more than twenty years. I graduated from Michigan State University with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Cello Performance. I currently teach privately in Chicago and the suburbs over fifteen students with ages ranging from 5

Teaching since 2010
I teach beginners from scratch through cellists at the top of the field. I've trained more than 60 cellists, including children as small as three and a half years old, autistic children, beginning adolescents, cello "converts" from other instruments, blind students, adult beginners, conservatory-bound teens, and professional symphony players.
All the time I hear "I can't start, I'm too old", "I am not musically inclined", or "I am not talented"- all from people that never held an instrument in their lives. That is self-deprecating talk, and it is absolutely false. Everything a performer does was learned at some point. Absolutely everything. Any person has the potential to learn how to play incredibly well. It does not take a "gift" or "talent". It takes the initiative to try.
I have a passion for training cellists to a high level of musicianship. I have mentored cellists from the first lesson through professional symphony auditions. I am certified with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and know the Suzuki Method intimately through growing up with the method myself

I specialize in flamenco guitar, one of the most challenging styles of guitar playing. The techniques and fundamentals of flamenco are valuable resources for any guitarist, regardless of genre or style. While everything is taught through the filter of flamenco, students will gain a wealth of knowledge applicable to the guitar in general.
One can expect to start by developing a full technical routine aimed at developing stamina, strength, precision, and speed. All fundamental techniques will be introduced. Rhythm will be emphasized throughout. Harmony studies will be introduced where appropriate. Repertoire is given according to each student's capabilities and tastes, including resources for accompanying dance and singing.
