Saxophone was the first instrument, aside from Piano, that I started to play. I started in 4th grade with this instrument until my middle school teacher in 6th grade asked me to switch to French horn. I continued to perform on Saxophone in our school's Jazz ensemble in Middle School and High School. I no longer play the Saxophone but can still teach students how to play the instrument!

About Beckie
Hi!
My name is Beckie and I have played music for all of my life. I play and teach many different instruments such as the Trumpet, French horn, Saxophone, Mandolin, Guitar, Clarinet, Voice, and Piano.

I graduated from Chapman University in 2010 with 2 degrees in music, Music Education and Music Performance on French horn. I am currently in my second year at UCLA for my masters in Music Performance on French horn.

When I first began teaching, I taught at an elementary school for 3 years as a brass coach for a Montessori Academy. This is where I fell in love with teaching. I have been teaching privately for 13 years now and love the one-on-one attention that I can give the students.

I have worked for many great organizations like the Los Angeles Philharmonic and California Philharmonic.

I currently am a freelance musician.
I perform regularly with the UCLA Philharmonia and UCLA Wind Ensemble-the top two performing groups at the music school. I also am in horn ensemble called the Thursday Horn Club. I have performed in such wonderful venues as the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Sydney Opera house, in which I was able to premier a piece!

I look forward to working with you or your child in helping to start or continue a musical instrument!

*** Lesson Details ***
When I teach lessons, I like to go at the pace of the student. I am very patient but I expect the student to practice during the week. I will always work with a student as long as it takes to have them understand what is difficult for them musically.

For music, I try to find free options but books may be a better option. When we choose a book to play out of, I like to choose a book together so that the parent and the child are happy about the selection. Books vary based on what the needs are for each student. Books are to be purchased by the parent.

I usually play my instruments with the students, but being a freelance musician, I may need to save my chops for an upcoming gig. Not always, but happens from time to time :)

I also have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you are late for your lesson, I will try to accommodate the time but may have students or rehearsals afterwards so it will not always be a guarantee. If you are going to be late, please text me BEFORE the scheduled lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lesson space is in my home w/ seating for parents and music stand for students. I also have a cat and a dog, so if you are allergic, please let me know!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to provide the music books and their own instruments and music stand.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical genres of playing but I am able to teach all different styles of music.

I had next to no experience on the horn, and I had learned and improved greatly from the first lesson. From my experience, should you need to jump into horn from the bottom, Beckie is the ideal teacher because of her attention to detail and positive attitude that makes progress exponential.

She canceled and rescheduled so many lessons due to personal reasons, such as playing somewhere, house construction, etc. When my wife sent her text because my son couldn't make a lesson, she didn't check and charged anyway for no-show. The she cancelled all the remaining lessons. I don't think she is very professional.

Sorry Beckie, but you need to set your priority before taking students. My son is not something you can give lesson whenever you feels like.

Uncle can you teach me. I like playing all types of instruments and I am also taking up music. My grandmother got me into music also and I play guitar, harmonica, accordion, drum and flute. As you can see I like music also and I do Karaoke with my mom who is your sis. We love you and one day God will join us together. I am proud you got your own place and one day I can take care of you. I am also thinking why I don't have any uncle from my mom side who I can be with. Love your Nephew Mario Barrios.

Chris Performance

I have been taking saxophone lessons with Chris for the past month and the experience has been invaluable. Their professionalism as well as dedication are two very important elements in the dynamics that has been developed. In the first class I could barely play a scale, and for the third week I could play 5 of them without any problem. We are now focusing on developing the style of swing that is something I have always wanted to learn. I know that with his guidance I'll get to where I want to be in relation to my musicianship.

Chirs Thanks for your interest and dedication.

Manny

PS: He has being able also to give me feedback by email or over the phone; something that is highly important for practicing the wright way.

I started playing saxophone in the 1970's. But satisfaction with the instrument was delayed till the 90's when I started playing it in live band settings. In 2009, I started playing sax in studio recordings. Along the way, I started to give away my skills on sax to those who were interested. Fascinated by the process of teaching, I offer my sax expertise to beginning students, and to intermediate students who desire to be move beyond a school band instrument sound. A sax can do so much more!!

My goal in teaching is to make my students better musicians in every aspect. I like to discuss the music with students, get them to think about the music in new and interesting ways, teach how to practice and philosophies for approaching musical styles. I like to teach theory and play piano with the students so that they understand what is going on in the music. Students can expect all of this and more while having fun and being able to express themselves through the music they want to play.

About Eddie
My name is Eduardo, but I like to go by Eddie. Music, since the first time I picked up the saxophone, has been the passion of my life. I almost always have an instrument in my hands or have music coming out of my speakers. I earned my degree in performance from the University of Miami in 2012 and have 1 year of experience teaching. Since I first started as a musician, besides becoming proficient on soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, I have also taught myself to play the piano, guitar, flute, and clarinet. Music is my passion and I want to bring this same passion to any student I teach.

Ready to put together some effective practice skills and learn how to get around the horn? Maybe you're getting ready for that All-State audition or to take that first chair spot or learn to play some fun tunes. I'm willing to help if you're able to practice. Texts vary depending on level, genre, and what you're interested in achieving. Topics to be covered include but aren't limited to: How to practice to make the most of our lessons and your time, good fundamentals and technique, sight reading, theory, improvisation, suggested listening and repertoire, audition prep...

About Kevin
School is important, but MUSIC is importanter. Learning to practice and love it is one of the most useful skills anybody can ask for in any field. I wholeheartedly believe that anyone that puts in honest practice and exploration will find a way around an instrument. For the last 20 years I have been teaching privately, in the public, private and charter schools, and have been writing and playing professionally. Some of my best students have pursued music as a career and some are engineers or housewives or something else, but playing music is something they all hold close to their hearts.

I had the pleasure of being Mr. Muncy's student during my high school years. I started as a beginner in my sophomore year having never taken a music lesson. I took this course simply to fulfill an arts requirement, but his infectious passion for music and teaching inspired in me a deeper interest in the subject. His patience, unique teaching style, and ability to communicate complicated musical concepts equipped me with the capability to pursue music more seriously. After graduating from his music program, I joined the symphony band at my university, held various steady professional gigs and formed my own groups for performing at charity events. Three years of lessons with Mr. Muncy, and some dedication on my end, allowed me to surpass my own expectations in music. I continue to play while pursuing a career as a Physician Assistant and feel privileged to have Mr. Muncy as a mentor. His lessons not only allowed me to pursue my passion for music, but have taught me life skills that have also molded me as a clinician. If you are looking to take music lessons, I highly recommend Mr. Kevin Muncy.

Kevin was an excellent teacher when I had him many moons ago - I can only imagine that he has improved since then. I was a beginner, learning the bass. That isn't Kevin's primary instrument, but he was knowledgeable enough to help me lay much of the foundation for the all that I know in bass playing today. He helped inform my music history knowledge, appreciation and pointed me to some great artists, books (esp. Free Play), and people to learn from. Perhaps more importantly, he really helped stimulate my growth and development within music and within life itself. I credit a good part of who I am and my success today to the tutelage and teaching of Kevin.

I've been teaching saxophone lessons for 7 years professionally, specifically beginning students through high school, though all ages are welcome! Lessons will be catered to the specific needs and goals of each student. My musical background is very diverse, including music performances in genres such as classical, jazz, pop, funk, r&b, and more!

About Nathan
I play saxophone, flute, clarinet, and piano, as well as write and arrange music. I received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Classical Saxophone Perfmance from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati and am currently pursuing a Master's in Jazz Saxophone from the University of Miami.

I have performed a diverse range of genres with prominent musicians such as Gordon Goodwin, Wayne Bergeron, John Clayton, Jon Secada, and more, as well as with various groups in Cincinnati, Miami, and most recently at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. I also do work in recording, editing, mixing, and other technology based aspects of working with music.

Lessons can be specifically tailored to the needs and goals of each student (i.e. one student may want to focus on classical music, another traditional jazz,
and another today's pop music). I can teach lessons online or travel to you, whatever works best for you!
