I believe that it is very important to have a good musical foundation in addition to playing the trumpet. We will go over aspects of music theory such as scales and key signatures. We will go over the fundamentals of playing trumpet and use exercises from various different method books. We will also go in depth into any styles that you are interested in. I will ask you to listen to recordings of great trumpet players so you can model their sound. Lessons will be rewarding and fun!
About Matt
I attended West Chester University from 2011-2015 and graduated with my bachleor's in music education. I performed in the marching band, symphonic band, wind ensemble, jazz ensembles, various trumpet ensembles, and a brass quintet. One of my trumpet ensembles made it to the semifinals in the Nation

Hello and welcome to my studio!
In my studio, all trumpets players feel welcomed, and I will do my best to keep you/your child happy and having fun while taking lessons.
Your first lesson begins with breathing exercises as we need air to play trumpet. Proper posture, embouchure for playing, and making a nice sound will come next. I have several method books depending on your trumpet experience, but if you already have a book we can use yours. Later we will work on the more intricate aspects of trumpet playing such as articulations and range (yay high notes!), while learning new songs!
If you are already a more advanced student, we will work on music that pushes you to a higher level (etudes, jazz charts, Arbans, etc.). I will also give you more detailed and advanced concepts to remove excess tension, play more musically instead of robotically, and overall make playing feel so much easier.
I'm glad you have decided to take trumpet lessons and look forward to helping you ...
About Andrew

I have played with Chris in brass quintet, duo, trio, orchestral and wind ensemble settings, and have never stopped being excited and inspired by his playing. As a soloist, Chris has presented many beautiful solo performances that involve and communicate with audience members. He is not afraid to break down the wall between performer and audience, a refreshing take on the classical artform.
Along with being a fantastic performer and educator, Chris is an advocate for the outreach and sharing of music. He has worked with nursing homes, hospitals, and local school districts to share music with more people.
I highly recommend Chris as a teacher, and believe any student who has the opportunity to work with and learn from him is on the best path to reach their goals."
