Voice lessons are tough. This isn't like a golf swing where someone can show you physically what to do or reach out and position your elbows where they need to be.
This all has to be articulated by a teacher, and is has to be articulated to someone (YOU) who doesn't even know what parts you're trying to move around.
It takes a great teacher. Eulis is a GREAT teacher. He gave me physical descriptions, character descriptions, accent descriptions, … everything I needed to position everything where it needed to be, even when I didn't always know where it was.
A lot of progress and a lot of fun. Thank you, Eulis.

My approach to music theory is that it should be learned by doing - being told what an Italian Sixth chord doesn't do you much good if you can't apply it in your own music. To that end, we'll spend time on close listening, sight-singing, dictation, rhythm games, etc., and minimal time with textbooks.

I believe that every student learns at varying paces. I emphasize my students strengths so they can excel at sight reading or playing by ear. I love to create personal connections so that our learning environment is safe and open. I am a fashion designer and musician who bonds very well with creative types! I encourage keeping practice records, but understand busy weekly schedules.
I began playing piano and viola at age ten and never stopped! I joined the Youth Symphony of Kansas City as a teenager and fell in love with orchestra. My private viola studies allowed me to join groups such as the Kansas City String Quartet Program and Heartland Chamber Music. One of my favorite performances was recently playing with the Heartland Chamber Men's Chorus.
I'm a Midwestern girl with a big heart and creative mind. Art, fashion, travel, film, and family are among the many muses of my life! I started teaching violin and viola four years ago after a friend suggested I become a private music instructor. My goal is to foster students to practice smart, res

Recently, I started teaching a new piano student who simply wanted to play his favorite pop songs by both ear and sight to not only become a better pianist, but to be the life of the party for his friends. I loved his goal and made sure he knew about the great ways of learning how to play piano by ear using the pop …
