I've been teaching guitar for over eight years. I've previously been a part of two bands during my formative years and recently have been a session guitar player for four upcoming indie rock, alternative, and R&B/Soul albums.
For children and beginners, I use the Mel Bay publication Children's Guitar Chord Book as well as Hal Leonard's Guitar Method series. I also apply basic music theory that includes learning the Circle of Fifths and basic reading of sheet music.

For intermediate guitar players, I utilize the Gibson's Learn and Master Guitar series to teach Power Chord Formation and Delivery, Fingerpicking, Pentatonic Scales, Reading Tabulature, and tackling some of classic rock and jazz's favorite tunes.

For guitar lessons at my studio, I leverage Guitar Pro to project and display tabs and play-alongs with ease. For in-home lessons, I use the software for select lessons as we begin song selection and play-alongs.

I can't wait to rock out with you as you find your inner ...

Milton is an excellent instructor! He is very knowledgeable, kind, and patient. The guitar curriculum he uses is very good. I have prior musical knowledge in piano, and Milton knows when I need to be challenged/need extra work and when I can breeze through exercises on my new instrument. Lessons are really fun and I always look forward to them. Highly recommended!

My piano lessons are adapted to the individual needs and interests of my students. Along the way, we enjoy many styles of music and incorporate note reading and rhythm, musical expression, ear training, sight reading, and theory. Whether you're a first day student or a seasoned player, I've probably taught someone just like you before. I especially love teaching theory and fretboard logic, but I can help you learn whatever you're looking to take on.

With every student, I create a specific path for you that gives you what you're looking to learn (aka what got you excited about picking up the guitar in the first place) along with the essentials to help make your journey as smooth as possible. If there isn't quality tab readily available, I'm down to transcribe the tune for you and I guarantee you'll laugh and enjoy yourself (at no extra charge of course).

About Dave

I've been playing the guitar for 25 years now and teaching for nearly two decades. In 2006, I received his BA in Jazz performance from U-Mass Amherst and since then I've performed anywhere from local bars and cafes, in pits for musical theater, as a show band musician for Carnival Cruise Lines and

Dave is the best instructor I could have hoped for. As an older beginner, I was not sure how much I could pick up but I have made good progress in the past year with his lessons. Lots of fun, look forward to learning more riffs and songs!
Samantha
My 11 year old has had weekly guitar lessons from Dave for two years now.
Her knowledge and confidence in playing the guitar, has greatly improved. Dave gets all the credit for that.
He works well with her, is communicative, and is as flexible as he can be, even last minute.
I have, and will continue to recommend Dave to anyone interested in taking guitar lessons

Lesson regiments are tailored to synthesize student goals and musical passions, setting a foundation in the instrument of interest.

Technique and practice-exercises provide the core for study and development (but we won't let that get in the way of the fun!).

My teaching philosophy largely derives from experience with master-drummers of different fields of study; my methods are thus a synthesis of concepts designed to ensure anyones improvement. We all have rhythm!

About Joe

I am a professional percussionist and drum instructor based out of the Tannery Arts Center in Santa Cruz. I teach both studio and outcall lessons to all ages, covering drumset, steel pan, hand drumming, orchestral percussion, music theory, and piano. Additionally, I am a leader in the samba

"Rich is top notch! My daughter has taken banjo and guitar (acoustic and electric) with him for about 6 years. She has also had several excellent teachers over the years, in piano, violin, and voice and great theory instruction in general. But when it came time for college auditions, she attributed a large part of her success in the theory portion to Rich's preparation. What's most special about Rich is that, even while he's teaching the theory, he ALWAYS keeps it fun. He's has a great formula - scales/theory, a little music history, songs/technique, fun. We'd give him 10 stars if we could."

He is kind and friendly with loads of patience. He teaches whatever I like along with regular lessons. I am basically from India, so even when I ask music for languages other than English, he does without any sort of hesitation. "David L. Was highly recommended to us by multiple people. He taught my two daughters piano for 1 1/2 years before we said a tearful goodbye as he moved to Texas. David L has a perfectly magical way in communicating to young students. He always spoke positively and found something good to say about any piece they played. He would then very positively guide them towards the correct way of playing. My shy, nervous girls thrived. It is truly going to be a challenge finding his replacement, David L. is an amazing person and teacher."

He made himself available for one free half-hour one-on-one class with each student with the individual needs of each student the targeted goal. I would take another guitar class with this instructor if it were offered."
