Private Violin Teacher

I have been playing and teaching the violin professionally for all of my adult life. I trained in the UK, where I gained a violin teaching diploma, and since then I have performed and recorded with many well known ensembles and have taught both privately and in educational institutions.
In my lessons I aim to achieve an informal environment for my students and I teach technique, music reading and interpretation as well as general music appreciation. I give lessons to beginners through to advanced levels.
I strongly believe music to be an art and a very important means of self expression.

About Pierre

I graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and joined the BBC Midland Radio Orchestra. From there I joined the English String Orchestra as Sub Leader touring the USA and Europe and making many recordings. Whilst working with the ESO I developed an interest in the Baroque violin and joined the Academy of Ancient Music and toured the world and appeared on many commercial recordings.

In 2002 I moved to San Diego, where I have taught at the University of California and played with various ensembles throughout California and other parts of the USA. During all this time I have maintained my interest in teaching students of all ages and stages.

Private Violin Teacher

I am an outgoing, positive teacher who has a passion for music and for sharing this passion with students in a fun and relatable way. I don't approach every student the same way - as unique individuals, I learn about the student's goals and personality, and will create customized lessons based on the information and relationship we form. Knowledge of the instrument, music theory, and basic fundamentals are building blocks of any lesson, but the sky is the limit!!

About Regina

I was inspired to play the violin after seeing the local middle school orchestra perform when I was 8 years old. Since beginning group violin lessons the following school year, I have been consistently involved in developing my passion for and involvement in music in versatile ways -participating in many classical orchestras and ensembles, interning at 91X radio station during college,
and performing as a session musician and live string performer in the San Diego music scene.

In 2010, I graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Music and a minor in Pre-Therapeutic Psychology from Point Loma Nazarene University. In addition to teaching lessons, I play for weddings, parties, and other events, and can be found rocking out on stage in acoustic world punk band QUEL BORDEL!

I teach from more traditional methods and use my personal history to p

rovide a well-rounded learning experience. I enjoy sharing the beauty and creativity of classical music, Irish/world music, hymns/religious pieces, as well as contemporary songs.

My approach to teaching is very holistic, helping to create for each of student a solid foundation of music theory, history, note-reading, and technique while also exposing them to a variety of pieces and genres so they can be better prepared to explore what most interests them.

About Laura

I am a multi-instrumentalist and have been teaching piano since 1998. My students' ages range from 4 to 60+. I have been a musician for the majority of my lifetime, having started playing piano at age five. As a multi-instrumentalist I teach piano, clarinet, violin and guitar. I have also taught elementary school classroom music at a private school and directed musicals for them.

I have my BA in Music from San Diego State University and I am well prepared to teach music. One of the highlights of my music education at San Diego State was the privilege of playing violin for the SDSU Symphony Orchestra, performing master works such as Beethoven's Fifth Symphony as well John Williams' Suite from Star Wars.

I also received an Associate of Arts degree at Grossmont, College in El Cajon, California, with an emphasis on music education.

My lessons consist of exercises that emphasize proper techniques for each instrument. Lessons are tailored to the specific needs of each student. I would like my students to fully understand the entire musical process, including theory. I prepare lesson content to meet the individual needs of each student.

My students have expressed that they enjoy my music lessons. I am serious about lesson content and am always seeking new ways to make lessons more enjoyable. I include parents/guardians by informing them of lesson requirements and progress, and encourage all to ask questions or make suggestions.

It is my goal to share the joy that music brings to each life. I am looking forward to meeting you.

*** Travel Equipment ***I encourage students to own the instrument they are studying, and to purchase lesson books.

*** Specialties ***
Bastien, Alfred, Dozen-a-Day, Keith Snell, Hanon, Czerny and others - piano; Suzuki, Laoureux etc. - violin; Leonard - guitar; Lazarus - Clarinet.

Together with these method books, I include personalized techniques, tailoring lessons each individual student, as well as computer games and programs.

Laura has a great sense of humor, which comes in handy when I am not doing as well as I would like. She is a very patient teacher, as well as creative in her teaching strategies. When I was taking lessons with her she was studying music at SDSU and utilized her fresh education in our sessions. Also, her at home studio serves as a relaxing setting, which was just my style.

I really enjoy going to my lessons. Laura is very patient, with great knowledge and a great personality. I am a 58 years old violin student and I want to learn more about the violin so that I can play at my Church. Her classes are fantastic and I know I will be playing in front of the congregation soon. I highly recommend her style whether you are a child, young adult or older like me. IT IS FUN!!

Private Violin Teacher

In my one hour of comprehensive teaching, students learn extensively the techniques of the violin, including tone production, vibrato, musicality and pieces of music which are chosen from standard violin literature or Suzuki books. The whole idea is to get students to look at the whole learning process as a fun activity, and very soon they acquire the ability to produce beautiful sounds, correct intonation and strong vibrato. In addition to the above, I conduct some some ear-training exercises to improve intonation as well.

About Nader

I am a violinist and composer. I have trained more than 1200 students in more than twenty five years of my teaching carrier.

*** Lesson Details ***
Each lesson includes scales, arpeggios, etudes, duets and a new piece of music from different eras of music. I emphasize on tone production, correct intonation, accurate rhythm, reading skills, as well as an expressive and strong vibrato. My primary goal is to train students to become an excellent violinist, to play numerous compositions with the highest musicality and interpretation.
My studio at my home is a spacey room that is properly ventilated and well lit, possessing enough chairs available for both my students and possible guests. There are two music stands and an electric Suzuki piano, which can be used for accompaniment in our lessons, especially in preparation for upcoming con

certs.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have a 2012 Toyota Corolla car, with a trunk that has ample space to house and carry my instruments and music stands as they are needed.

*** Specialties ***
Patience and communicating in an effective way and encouraging students to practice without regarding such a task as a chore.

He is very patient and has excellent communication skills. I have no knowledge of how to play the violin or music of any kind. After my first lesson I strongly feel he will be my private instructor for many years to come. I left with proper technique of how this instrument is to be cared for and good posture when practicing. He also informed me of the books we will be incorporating into my lessons. Most importantly homework is given and he is very patient and explains everything at your level.

I was very pleased with my first lesson with Nader. He is very kind and patient. We covered some basic points with what we'll be covering for my lessons with the cello. His instructions and explanations of technique is very clear I feel my lessons with him will be very beneficial and enjoyable.

Mr. Nader is an excellent instructor who always puts his students first. He customizes his lessons in accordance to each individual and patiently works with them so that they may achieve their optimum potential.

More than just a passive teacher of the violin, Mr. Nader dedicates his time and energy as a full time instructor of violin, cello, and music theory. Furthermore, Mr. Nader exhibits a level of knowledge, intellect, understanding, and culture rarely seen in the world today. When one walks into his music room, one will be struck with awe at not only the amount of books in Mr. Nader's library collection, but also the wide variety of subjects ranging from Music, Music History, Biographies, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, and many more. However, do not think that these books are just for display. Quite the contrary, one short conversation with Mr. Nader will show that he is well versed in all these subjects; a modern incarnation of the Renaissance polymath. Building off of his broad knowledge base, Mr. Nader not only teaches one how to play an instrument, he also teaches one how to cultivate oneself in Music and the culture from which it originates.

With a passion for Music and a yearn to pass on higher culture to the avid learner, Mr. Nader is the best instructor for all those who wish to learn Music along with its connection to the history, society, and culture from which it springs.

Private Violin Teacher

I use many methods of teaching including Suzuki, Kodaly and traditional teaching in order to accommodate each student's learning needs. I am very flexible and more than happy to discuss teaching methods and/or special needs with parents and students.

About Alethia

Growing up I was raised in a home full of music. My father, a graduate of the Conservatorio Nacional Superior de Musica (National conservatory of Superior Music) played piano day and night and from there my love for music blossomed. My first experience with music was at the age of 8 when I began to take piano lessons from my father. I decided to switch to violin when I was 12. I was introduced to violin thanks to the Waldorf School of San Diego and have played in the orchestra throughout all of middle school. After 8th grade I was accepted into Young Artist Symphony and played with them until 2011. My education in orchestras continued with USD Chamber Orchestra, and Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. I began to teach at the Waldorf School as an assistant orchestra teacher in 2011, and have since been teaching privately as well.

My goals wh

en teaching is to teach the appropriate techniques in order to play violin successfully and to hopefully inspire love and appreciation for music. In my experience I have learned that every student has a different way of learning therefore it is important to adjust to every student's needs. Learning should be fun but it should also be disciplined, it is important to understand that there is a time for fun and a time to be serious when learning.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me!

I met Alethia several years ago when she came in for voice lessons with me. Right out the gate, I could see she was already very skilled and filled with talent. Intonation is a subject near and dear to the hearts of both singers and violinists. Alethia has a solid ear and pays acute attention to tuning. A skill that EVERY musician needs continually work with. She is patient and a diligent musician. I have been pleased to have the opportunity to work beside Alethia in several pro scenarios in town and am proud to say she studies with me to everyone around me. I appreciate her honest nature and sense of humor, she is a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended!

Lessons with Alethia have been a fantastic experience. I played violin for a while when I was younger, but even though it's been a long time, she was able to get me back into it and loving playing again. Alethia is an incredibly talented instructor, perfectly able to identify and correct any trouble spots, keeping you improving and always playing better. I always leave lessons full of energy and excited about the progress made. She has always been super flexible and accommodating, and can help you get where you want and achieve your goals. I would highly recommend Alethia to anyone looking for lessons and look forward to continuing playing and learning from her.

About Cheyenne

I have played the violin for 15 years, starting from when I was in elementary school. I participated in the orchestras for middle and high school. In these orchestras, we participated in many competitions and festivals. When I was in college, I joined a community orchestra called the East County Youth Symphony. This is where I honed in on my skills and progressed towards a intermediate level. I received harder literature to read and played with some amazing musicians in concerts. Because of this orchestra, I was able to participate in a musical for Young Actors Theater. I played the violin for the play Les Miserables. After this, I joined the Greater San Diego Orchestra which allowed me to perform with solo artists and participate in film festivals. I had the opportunity to play for another musical for Young Actors Theater, this time Bea

uty and the Beast. Currently, I am a member of a mariachi group for the City Heights Music School. This group consists of musicians of various age and skill levels. We play in festivals and performances around the San Diego area.

Students can expect to learn the fundamentals of the Violin. The love of the Violin will be something my students will experience.I like to provide a first class experience that my students learn to love and will cause them to embrace Violin for a life time.

About Shahrzad

Shahrzad P. was born in 1983 in Tehran,Iran and she started playing Violin at a young age.
Her passion for Violin and her natural abilities created an opportunity for her at a young age to enter Tehran Music Conservatory.
She was taught by two major Russian professors: Mamuka Dolidzeh and Lika Kashir Sekaya.
She holds a bachelor degree of music in Performing International Classical music and International Instrument Instruction from Tehran Conservatory of Music.
She has over ten ears of professional music experience as a musc performer.
As a performer she has been a violinist in many classical orchestras such as: Tehran Academic Orchestra, Tehran Symphony, Tehran conservatory orchestras,Violet symphony orchestra, Sarv quartet and Pastoral orchestra and at the present time Poway Symphony Orchestra in San Diego.
She was also a constan

t violin performer at Fadjr International Music Festival for seven years.
Shahrzad also has experience in performing for theater shows at Tehran Shahr theater.
Shahrzad started teaching music in 2007.
She quickly became favorite among all students because of her teaching style and passion she was sharing with her students.

Teaching Style

My method is to start with Suzuki books but not before focusing on making a correct posture and producing a good tone.
teaching and working techniques, etudes and scales can sometimes be boring for the beginner students therefore I teach some small folks and easy concertos to encourage them more.

The books I work with my students are:
Suzuki method books
Wolfart,Kayser,Kruetzer,Rode
Cevcik method books
Mazas method books
Scales and arpeggio exercises

Learning to play a musical instrument - and finally being able to play all of your favorite songs for violin - is an amazing feeling! However, it can be easy to get caught up in the enthusiasm of learning to play violin songs quickly, and to overlook the important basic step of developing your sound from the very beginning.  Nothing will help build these skills more quickly than concentrated exercises; just a few short bursts each day to concentrate on each area will hone the skills you need to …
