Beginner-You will learn basic skills of hand and machine stitching, seams, darts, pleats, zippers, pouch, tote bag and build many more samples into a scrapbook.

Intermediate- Fabric dimension and behavior, cutting skills, bias binding, various necklines and making a skirt or blouse. Learn to make garment with commercial pattern.

Advanced-Make dress, skirt, pants or blouse with lining.

Note: Although students learn at different rates, the above results are expected, if taking lessons 2hours a week, for 5weeks for all levels.

About LILY
I am a fashion designer/instructor and former social worker. I am very patient with students and passionate about sewing. I get excited watching students build skills gradually from basic through advanced level techniques.
Also, I am one of the few teachers in the country who teaches the exclusive "Freehand" sewing, which is sewing without ready-made (commercial) pattern, like our grandparents did.
As a social worker, I taught participants in a homeless shelter, how to make various items geared towards independent living. For six years now, I've been teaching at a fabric store in East Harlem where patrons sign up for group sewing lessons as well as private lessons. I teach garment construction, alterations, home decor, and various sewing projects.

The way that I teach is to help the student develop their own style. My first goal is to give my students all of the tools they need to feel confident from the very first lesson. We start with the fundamentals of hand-sewing and make our way up, all this with a mixture of fun, listenting and patience.

About Alexandra
I love learning and teaching languages and although I studied law I really prefer teaching languages (I speak 5 languages) and sewing (another of my favourite hobbies) love travelling and photography.

I will be happy to answer the questions which arise in between your one-on-one lessons. In short, I will do everything I can to increase your rate of language acquisition.

It goes without saying that I love to teach! I have an easy-going personality and a positive attitude. Learning such a beautiful and multifaceted language as Spanish or Romanian will be fun with me. I love travelling, I have hosted many exchange students, so I have developed good communication and creativity skills.

I will encourage your interest and curiosity into the different cultures by using amusing topics during the session, which will automatically imp
rove your experience.

I am able to communicate with students at a very personal level . I am very passionate and enthusiastic to get them to learn. I will also promote study habits.

I have a lot of nice material and is interested in what people have to say and their needs. I am friendly and kind; I try to correct students making sure they don't feel embarrassed. I makes people feel comfortable, and encourages them to participate and learn, -even the shy ones. I enjoy the class as much as you.

My expertise in sewing always inspires creativity and passion within students, and the ease with which i guide them to explore their own creativity bring fun to the lessons. Having over 25 years of custom couture tailoring and teaching has given me a vast experience in order for me to equip any student with the requisite knowledge needed to tackle any sewing project.

About Kodjo
Most people simply call me Joe. I have a bachelors in Fine Art, an MBA and been making clothes for my clients for over 25 years. I taught many people sewing and they've gone ahead to tackle various projects on their own to their own disbelief. Creativity comes to me naturally and with a background in figure drawing and painting, my knowledge of anatomy of the human figure helps a lot in translating it into designs for all figure types and sizes. I have handled many interior design projects also, so all these experiences equip me with immense knowledge to transfer to those who want to learn all about sewing, whether as a beginner, an intermediary or advanced student.

I've had a few lessons with Sonya under my belt now and I could not be happier with her as my instructor. I came into this with very specific things I wanted to learn or touch on and she has been very knowledgeable. I'm not an absolute beginner, more of an advanced beginner and she adapts her lesson plans accordingly. She knows her stuff, she's great at teaching, flexible and just an all around cool chick. Money and time well spent.

About Celeste
Hello, fellow creatives!
I got into sewing when I was 17 years old after getting my first sewing machine (as requested) for Christmas. I really wanted to make my own raver wear and the first thing I made was butterfly printed pants. I loved being able to express myself thru the costumes I made and have been ever since!
I have made everything from traditional Halloween costumes (cheerleader, poison ivy, ringmaster, genie etc) to costumes for burning man for myself and all my friends including my boyfriends, to costumes for performers like professional hula hoopers, fire spinners, stilt walkers, dancers, and DJs. Basically, I help anyone who wants to have fun while they look fabulous in their own one of a kind costume.
Some of my more notable creations have been- Steampunk couple including steampunk toy gun, Mad hater that won a
