About Nils

Whether you're a beginner or more advanced, age 5 or 500, in my experience, with just a little bit of practice each day anyone can learn to play guitar. Maybe your goal is to simply learn to play your favorite songs or maybe you want to learn to write your own music, improvise, or perform live.

Nils has been an excellent teacher for my 9-year-old son. He is very patient and encouraging and keeps my son engaged during the lesson. My son was very excited to learn a familiar riff after only one lesson and has been motivated to keep practicing. I highly recommend Nils as a teacher!

I focus on musicality when I teach any instrument. With the guitar, that means keeping great rhythm, using rich chords and melodic solos, and playing with careful expressiveness.

We learn from the greats (Beatles, Police, Radiohead, etc) and learn to create and express from there.

About Colin

I'm an avid music fan familiar with rock (indie rock, classic rock, alternative), pop, funk, disco, and classical genres. Music has been my "thing" since the day I was born and I love connecting with people through their favorite music. My lessons focus on empowering each student with the skills

Piano class is an exciting and informative introduction to piano and music skills for beginning to intermediate level music students in grades Kindergarten through Adult. The goal of the course is not only to develop a solid musical foundation in piano which will greatly assist in the future pursuit of any musical instrument in any style, but most importantly to instill in the student an understanding of how music is put together and thereby yield a sense of appreciation and mastery, even of little accomplishments, which build upon one another to greater accomplishments.

Students are taught a stimulating, thorough, and graduated course of recital solos, theory, technical studies, and classic piano repertoire. Class size varies from 2 to 3 students (with the possibility of expansion) with group activities as well as one-on-one instruction. I have found that a group atmosphere is often more beneficial and enjoyable for beginning to intermediate level students because they are ...

I have had a wonderful experience studying piano with Tamari. She is an enthusiastic teacher making the lesson not only rewarding but also joyful. We had to go virtual because of Covid-19 and Tamari spent a lot of time getting all of us familiarized with virtual lessons. She is very dedicated, patient, caring, has a warm personality and she really enjoys teaching.

Hi Everyone,
I’d like to tell all about what a wonderful experience I’m having with Tamari as my piano teacher.
First about me. I’m a 70 year old male with virtually no hands-on music experience or knowledge (other than listening). My parents forced me to take piano music lessons 60+ years ago which I totally resisted. Playing piano was a sissy thing and after a few months they gave up.
For the past 50 years I regretted my youthful error. So when I had the chance to take a piano/keyboard class from Tamari, through OLLI at Uconn I jumped at the chance.
Tamari started the first class totally prepared. Not only did she have startup handouts geared to beginner level students. She also came with extension cords and power outlet strips so all could set up comfortably. Right away we (9) were playing notes and learning. Tamari gave us terrific learning tips (beyond Every Good Boy Does Fine) to make grasping lessons much easier.
Sadly, the Virus hit, and self-isolation became the norm. So Tamari set up her classes through the ZOOM video conferencing software. Wonderfully, a fun learning experience.
One example from yesterday. Tamari helped me learn that just playing the notes , G A G C B by pecking at the keys isn’t music. There’s a certain rhythm needed to make the sound correct and enjoyable. And after, patiently, staying with me, turn after turn, I got it right. Bravo to her and me.
Let me wrap this up by saying, I couldn’t be happier or more satisfied with Tamari as my Piano teacher.
Ralph A Famiglietti.

Tamari is a remarkably accommodating teacher. Uses instructional strategies that are effective and appropriate. Also, presents new material clearly and logically. Demonstrates enthusiasm and interest in lesson presentation. My daughter loves learning classical piano with Tamari.

I have taken lessons with Anna since I was seven years old (currently age 18). I began knowing nothing about the piano or music theory. Neither of my parents can play the piano. I was a beginner in every sense of the word. Now, I have not only a deep love and appreciation for music, but also an advanced musical capacity and repertoire. I have played pieces from a variety of styles and time periods, from Claude Debussy to Mozart to Hadyn to jazz and contemporary. I was able to have a personal high school senior recital and share this love and talent with others. In high school, I completed a music theory and composition course with ease.

I cannot recommend Anna enough. Her dedication and patience is unparalleled and she cares so deeply for her students. She is methodical, attentive, thoughtful, and is an absolute hidden gem of a teacher. Anna opened a world of music to me and I don’t think I can ever truly express how much that means to me. Not only am I a better musician because of her, but I’m also a better person. Her attention to detail and passion have challenged the way that I approach work and hobbies beyond just music.

Anna is particularly skilled as an educator. Beyond simply giving information for students to practice or memorize, she helps them apply the concepts to real musical pieces, guiding them along the way. Her calm but advanced method of teaching helps students advance quickly through musical concepts.

Over the past eleven years, I have spent literally hundreds of hours with Anna honing my craft. If anyone has seen the extent of her talent as a teacher, I’d like to think it’s me.

Five stars out of five stars. Always.

We are not going back for lessons with Anna. My daughter found her unfriendly and intimidating. Anna wasn’t very good about communicating with us. She finally sent an email to me on the day of the lesson. I felt she was rude. I’m glad she could not accommodate us. We were going to cancel appointments with her. My daughter is very shy. We will be looking for piano lessons elsewhere.
