My first lesson went well. Tomoko is very patient. Even in one lesson, I felt I learned a lot. She finds out what level you're at to save time and plays to your interests. I look forward to more lessons.

Tomoko is a not only a perfassional teacher, but also a talented improvisor! She has extensive knowledge of lots of kinds of music (ballet, Jazz, classic) and excellent skill of improvising. I observed her accompany class for ballet, she was very patient and helpful which are also very important qualities of being a teacher. it was a great experience!

I am just starting to learn how to play the piano, and have had no past experience with other music teachers. Tomoko has a very pleasant and encouraging teaching style. Her approach is informal and she does not rely on a rigid "lesson plan". I would highly recommend her for those wanting a relaxed learning experience.

I focus on musicality when I teach any instrument. With the bass, that stretches from playing with strong tone and staying in tune all the way to thumb position vibrato and advanced bowings. I'm a classical player but I include jazz, folk, and rock in my lessons.

About Colin

I'm an avid music fan familiar with rock (indie rock, classic rock, alternative), pop, funk, disco, and classical genres. Music has been my "thing" since the day I was born and I love connecting with people through their favorite music. My lessons focus on empowering each student with the skills

Very knowledgeable and experienced in not just playing the violin but teaching it as well.
Chris T.
At the age of 58 I decided to start taking violin lessons for 2 reasons, enjoyment of playing music and exercise my brain. I found Lucy K on the takelessons.com website and she was able to accommodate my request for lessons in my home on a Sunday. Starting from scratch, she taught me the fundamentals of playing and I have made some progress over the last 8 months. She is patient with me yet will push me along and at time bring me out of my comfort zone, which is good. She has the ability and training to teach students from early age to older adults like me. In addition, she also teaches piano, which my wife started lessons with Lucy K at the same time I started violin. She has my recommendation if you have interest in either violin or piano.

"A whole new world has opened for me

I wholeheartedly agree with all of the glowing reviews. Vanessa is a wonderful teacher. I so appreciate her spot-on ear and her excellent training, performance and vocal teaching experience to help me express myself and become the best singer I can be. I am a relative newbie to singing, and I feel so fortunate to have found Vanessa who is so genuine and is passionate about helping me learn proper technique. Consequently, a whole new world has been opened to me, and I’ve been achieving a depth with my singing voice that truly astonishes me. When you have a desire to creatively express yourself but have no concept or clue as to how to get there, or perhaps have hit a wall, it is a true gift to find a kind and generous teacher like Vanessa who has such an amazing ability to assess your needs, to help you learn proper technique, and to help you discover (and strengthen) the voice you never knew existed."

Kenneth is kind and firm teacher. More importantly, He is an extremely gifted musician. His ability to transfer knowledge is "off the chart!" I am glad I picked him from the list. He is outstanding and has a nice, professional location/studio as well."
