I have a great love for classical piano. I have a unique method for introducing music theory that allows my students to grasp the hows and whys of various pieces. I have great respect for the virtuosos and master teachers that have come before us. While I work on scales and cadences with my students - I also set up a program specifically geared towards what my students (and/or their parents) want to learn. I can be very formal (because I recognize its value) and very relaxed (because I know that this type of teaching is important for some people). Classical piano is not a walk in the park; there is a reason many people do not move to the next level. I make my instruction easy-to-understand and enjoyable. Well, the music speaks for itself - there are many classical pieces that are irresistible! Also, if preparing for a local proficiency review, I can assist you in accomplishing your goals. I use the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program from the Carnegie Foundation for a ...

Want to hone your ability to play a song by ear? Hear a melody in your head and then be able to recreate it on your instrument? If so, you'll find a lot of value in focusing on ear training. With each one of my students, I take into account how much time they are willing to practice, what genres interest them, and what learning style works best. I then come up with a structured lesson plan that is specifically catered to their needs.
If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me. Look forward to hearing from you soon!

He made me feel very welcome. He's very down to earth and fun to be around."

I came to Joe with some basic knowledge and skills on bass, he recognized this and built on it very quickly. I feel my skilled has tripled in the short time I've taken lessons with Joe. Our lessons are never boring an he does so much more than tell me to play a set of notes, he challenges me to make my own way and improvise. I would definitely recommend him for anyone wanting to learn an instrument."

I think any kids lucky enough to learn music from Joshua will have fun and hopefully fall in love with learning it, just like my kids have."
