Barbara D. Yorba Linda, CA

About Barbara

Experience: 30 years teaching private piano lessons, former head of Cerritos College Children's Piano Program. Trained with Christine Bardin, composer of Alfred's "Music for Little Mozarts". Philosophy I have had the advantage of having the best teachers and try to also give that opportunity to my students. When a new student first comes to me, I ask what is their goal and formulate a strategy to rapidly lead them to achieve that goal. Whether it is precise classical training or a general music experience that includes reading music and playing popular pieces, I give everyone a thorough education in theory, sight reading, and exercises to promote fast and even piano playing. I teach students as young as 4 years old with the "Music for Little Mozarts" approach which I taught at ...

Engaging Teacher

I have two children who are students. One did not want to play any instrument but is going to a performing arts school. Barbara took that into account and focused the teaching on things my child would use in school like accompanying singers, reading music, playing show tunes. My other child has a completely different focus. Barbara keeps her engaged and learning even though the interests are entirely different. Barbara knows much more than just piano. She knows about the music business and what it takes to succeed as a musician. She is a great resource and teacher.

Great teacher for an adult beginner

I have always been interested in learning the piano and finally did it. Barbara is a wonderful instructor. I have been taking lessons for approximately three months and can read music and play! Barbara is very encouraging and I look forward to each lesson.

I am now preparing to play holiday tunes at the family gathering!

Engaging, Flexible

Child had lessons at another program but teachers did not motivate students. Barbara engages the student. She focuses her teaching on both what the parent wants and what the child is interested in so the kids are more interesting in practicing and moving forward. Barbara is good with both younger students and teenagers. She is patient and knowledgeable.

Art is the absolute BEST!

Art is a wonderful teacher!! He is enthusiastic, reliable, knowledgeable and very personable. I feel extremely fortunate to have found Art to teach my 4 year old daughter.

My daughter has been eager to start learning the piano. I needed to find someone that is able to teach at her young level and to be able to connect with her shy personality. Amazingly, Art is able to make her laugh, smile, learn and have fun all at the same time!

My daughter has fun learning and we often find her practicing on her own at the piano. Actually, she considers it playtime at the piano! She is learning simple songs after just a few lessons. She is very proud of her ability to play and is always eager to see Art so that she can learn more.

I HIGHLY recommend Art as a piano teacher. It is obvious that he loves music, this is evident in his weekly teachings. As a parent, I couldn't be happier!!! Art is setting a firm foundation for our daughter's love for music.

Kris is awesome!

Kris is awesome! You will never meet anyone who loves musicor teaching as much as Kris. I startedwith him almost two years ago, and as an adult, beginning voice student I ampretty inhibited. Kris has an enthusiastic manner about him though, that reallyhelps you relax and feel more confident as he instructs you. When I started outthere was a real tightness in my voice that was probably more psychological thanphysical, but he showed me some important techniques for voice relaxation andamplification. For someone as shy about singing as I am, some of histechniques may seem a little outlandish at first, but they really do work! My karaoke buddies tell me that I sound even better than before! Iwholeheartedly recommend Kris to anyone who is looking for an enthusiastic andknowledgeable teacher.

Valentina W. H. Chino Hills, CA

About Valentina W.

I am delighted as a music teacher and performer, with excitement and joy when my students really enjoy music. A musician is just like a 'Messenger of Love, Beauty, and Truth', bringing to people what is lovely, truthful and pure. Learning a musical instrument can open our eyes to see beauty of life, to embrace our sense of being and further, to prove that quality and purpose of life results from more than just physical satisfaction. For years we find that most studios, limited to resources and the pressure of exams - a competition-oriented approach, provide merely technical training on skills, but not a holistic encountering of music. We will try to bring about a different approach: Without diminishing the skill training, we will enhance the music appreciation training by guiding

I'm impressed for her elaboration & skills

As a amateur adult my major goal is to enjoy playing piano. Dr. Huang really showed her depth in providing substantial multimedia recordings and skill demonstration.

Really enjoy the lesson and can't stop thinking the stories shared behind the music piece...
Joseph S. Fullerton, CA

About Joseph

I grew up in music, and started playing the piano when I was 6 years old, and began composing and using Logic Pro two years after that. I have been playing saxophone for 8 years, and am currently working to gain my bachelors degree in music performance from California State University, Fullerton. During my saxophone instruction I also began learning clarinet as a supplementary instrument, and have been playing it for 3 years. What I love about music the most, is how deep it resonates with the human soul and how the music stems from the passion of the composer and the performer. I feel that my job as a teacher is to instill a sense of passion and love for music in my students, in addition to teaching them the instrument and the rudiments of music. I also am a strong believer that the ...

I studied with Evan all through high school (2000-2005). I have since taken lessons from many other professional drummers and finished a degree in music at BYU and Evan still stands to be one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is very thorough in teaching technique/sticking/independence and all that, but most importantly he is a master at helping you APPLY what you learn in a musical way that is honest and meaningful. He is great at helping the student understand the bigger picture drumming and how to get out of your head and try to make real music. On top of that he is a great guy and fun to take lessons from. I owe much of my drumming success to him. I think that my sound and the way I approach the instrument are largely due to how he taught me and inspired me. I highly recommend any aspiring drummer no matter what level to study with Evan. One of the best in Southern California.

Recording artist and award-winning drummer/percussionist Evan Stone has an extraordinary wealth of wisdom and talent.

Of his many advanced traits, Evan Stone has a knack for listening (“Don’t hear, Listen” ...Stonism). He presents information in digestible chunks. Hence, each lesson is customized to your specific way of understanding. No matter your musical level, nor your age, your heritage, your hard-wiring, your existential pulse....Evan Stone speaks your language. Evan does not Judge. Evan Evaluates.

Here is my pitch--- Evan Stone, Zen Drum Teacher: Learn how to “sing” your drum beats. Learn how to read and write musical scales. Learn how to play patterns and accents you thought “too advanced”. Evan is a generous musician ready to share his “secret” paradiddles, grooves, poly-rhythms, triplets and more... Everything from jazz, rock, funk, blues, samba, bossa nova, reggae, clave, African, techno, country/folk...anything and everything musical and percussive is in his DNA.

Another thing about Evan Stone’s Lessons which I find really cool...he incorporates visual/audio tools and real-world analogies which transfer and fold back into music theory and playing (e.g. the Clock, the Tides, the tenuous pulse of a Major-League pitcher on the mound, Locked-in...winning the Ninth Inning). Always fluid and never clunky, Evan routinely accesses Smartphone aps (video, audio, tempo click); pen and paper, track references, or just random objects in the room -- which may even include mystical elements hovering in the atmosphere (Disclaimer: Don’t worry about it, he’s from Long Island, NY...he keeps the cosmic real).

Pull the trigger and hire Mr. Stone if you want To Live. And Play. And converse in a New, Universal, Grooving, Language.

I started playing drums as a senior in high school (2005). I thought I could teach myself or learn from youtube... I quickly found out I wasn't progressing and knew I needed lessons. I heard about Evan through one of his other students who is now a professional drummer. So I called up Evan and was hooked after one lesson! I took lessons with Evan from 2005-2007. Instantly Evan was opening my eyes to the depth of possibilities in creating beats, keeping time, etc. I learned so much from Evan and quickly was able to play with bands at school, church, and with friends. It didn't take long before I became better than many of my peers who had been drumming much longer than I had.

It definitely took hard work but I loved practicing because I loved playing! Evan gave me a passion and love for music and the drummers role in music! I am not a professional drummer but because of my lessons with Evan I am confident I can sit in and play with almost any band playing any type of music!

Thank you Evan!!!

PS. One of the other awesome things about Evan is that he's the real deal! He's not someone teaching because he can't do. You can go watch him plan all over Orange County multiple times a week in a variety of different bands and musical styles. Its been a ton of fun staying in touch with him over the years and watching him play!

What Are the Best Violin Brands for Beginners?
When you’re first starting to play an instrument, it's important to find a compromise between affordability and good quality. It’s not always smart to buy the cheapest model available, as not only is this likely to produce a poor sound and hamper any incentive to practice or progress, but it's likely to lose a lot of value on the resale market - it's worth bearing in mind that student models will be resold at some later date, whether you're moving onto something better, or to another instrument
