When I first begin teaching a student, I tell them that everyone has the ability to sing well no matter his or her experience. I also tell them that there are four things that a good singer must have: breathe control (air is your fuel, and must be used efficiently and effectively to give you the best sound), posture (in order to have access to your air and prevent vocal damage you must practice good posture habits), diction (how you pronounce words when singing can impede or improve vocal tone, as well as help or hinder the audience in understanding the lyrics) and finally and most importantly, passion. Passion is how emotionally connected you are to music and is what really allows the singer to connect with his or her audience.

Alignment is the basis a great technique. Each person is different, and knowing how to help them release unwanted tension is critical.
The vocal folds are the core of the sound, and must be given the utmost care and consideration. Proper hydration is essential. They are also muscles, that need strengthening exercises and time for them to change. This will improve your vocal endurance and range. As a highly trained voice teacher, I can hear if the vocal folds are behaving in a healthy and efficient manner. It is essential that your teacher understand how to care for these delicate components of the human voice.
Vocal resonance is how opera singers are heard without amplification. It can be enhanced through awareness and coordination of the various portions of the vocal tract. There are two main components that help magnify the sound. The pharynx, also known as the throat, and the soft palate. Having an open throat and lift soft palate not only help your boost the ...

She has been so patient and kind teaching music/singing to my 4 year old. My wife, my son and I are having a blast!"

I feel that his comments and modifications made a considerable impact on my performance, and this was an integral part of the success to my surprise.
I highly recommend Josh as a singing teacher!"

I feel very fortunate to have connected with Tim to be my vocal instructor.
Tim is courteous, professional, enthusiastic, encouraging, and a true subject matter expert. His knowledge extends beyond vocal study broadly to music theory and to performance training; all skills which must coalesce within a student to create a competent vocal performer. That is what's happening with me under Tim's instruction.
Tim is keeping track of my vocal range which is steadily increasing, and I am hearing the results of my voice as its quality is honed to ever finer skill levels. In addition to vocal tone and quality, proper and song-appropriate diction is analyzed and adjusted, as well as breathing, posture, and projection; all while being encouraged to remember to put my own signature on a song.
I am being taught not only proper methods of singing, but a new and far deeper appreciation for the art of singing as a whole.
Thank you Tim."
