I teach beginning and intermediate wheel throwing and hand-building, typically 18 years or older. Lessons include cylinders, throwing and trimming a bowl, pitchers, teapots, mugs and handles, lidded jars, and more. The surface is a large part of my courses, and I teach techniques such as sgraffito, mishima, carving, slip-trailing, image transfer, wax resist, stamping and more depending on students interest. 

Outside of the arts center I teach kids clay events of all ages, starting around 3 or 4.

Want to make better bowls on the wheel? Interested in learning how to pull a handle for a mug? I will help you fine-tune your current set of clay skills, assist in building a strong foundation of wheel throwing, and glazing guidance. Lessons are flexible and based on students personal goals. I have been teaching for 3 years and welcome learners of all levels and ages. Working with clay is a unique and rewarding experience. Let’s have some fun!

Liz is an emerging ceramic artist based in Oklahoma City, holding a BFA from the University of Central Oklahoma. Liz’s work has been featured in galleries in Oklahoma, as well as regionally and nationally. Her work is mainly wheel thrown and neatly decorated, intended for use and to bring people together. Outside of the studio, the ceramist is very involved within the arts community through ceramic instruction at Oklahoma Contemporary and volunteerism.

Great lesson, aimed for 11yo. Good visuals, appropriate scope for time alotted.   Liz is very patient and skilled.
