If you take lessons with me you will have access to a multi-year sequential curriculum designed to get you scholarships for top Art Schools. My Experience I have years of teaching experience from one of the nation's top art high schools. I have had 7 students go on to get full scholarships from places like MICA SAIC KCAI and RISD. Dozens have gotten partial scholarships or have used their portfolio to stand out while applying to traditional 4-year programs. I have also had students that placed top in the nation in the Scholastic and YoungArts competitions. I have taught hundreds of beginner students how to draw. Your classes with me: Fundamentals I firmly believe that anyone can learn how to draw. We will start with line. We will establish eye-hand contact though “sensitive line drawing”. Our first lessons will be about building trust between your hand and your eye. You will be learning how to draw by learning how to see and to think. We will discuss perception and brain anatomy to dive deeper into the mechanics of drawing. Voice Once you have mastered the fundamentals I will work with you to find your authentic voice, each students path is unique. Many instructors will try to teach you a "style", I will not. I will work with you to land on an expression that is uniquely your own. We will develop skills together but you will also begin to build your own visual vocabulary. You will develop a sense of who you are and how you see. I will provide skill lessons in response to your directions. Teaching is always a conversation.
