Calligraphy with Karen R.

Hello, I'm Karen. I've been studying calligraphy for 25 years including broad-edge styles (Italic, Gothic, Foundational, etc.) and pointed pen (Copperplate and Modern). As a professional calligrapher, I've written wedding envelopes, marriage certificates, signs, poems and other texts suitable for framing. I like to add calligraphy to art and create mixed media projects. I love everything about calligraphy from history to modern styles and I want to share my love of lettering with future lettering artists. I enjoy taking a student step by step through the process to achieve success. Calligraphy cannot be learned in a two-hour introductory workshop. If you seriously want to create beautiful letters, it takes time and practice using the right tools, techniques, paper, and writing fluid. I've taught over 100 students in the greater Pittsburgh area. If you are an advanced beginner or intermediate student, I can give you advice and techniques to kick your lettering up a notch and layout/execute projects that you'll be proud to have created.
