    About Judith F.

I would be thrilled to share my pottery studio and workshop with anyone interested in learning the functional and forgiving art of ceramics. Participants will get a look into one of Oakland's thriving artist communities, located one block from walkable Piedmont Avenue which teems with quaint shops and eateries. My ceramics studio is a cozy place for relaxation, where I find solace, peace, and reflection. I will share the art of hand-building and throwing techniques on the pottery wheel. You'll get a private lesson from me, and I will let you explore clay on your own, assisting you throughout the process. At my studio workshop, I will provide a comforting and safe space for all who are interested in exploring an authentic version of the Bay Area. Participants will get private, one-to-one instruction in working with clay. I will show you techniques that I use and will make them easy to learn!

    Experience

    Ceramic Artist

    Jan, 2013 - Present

    Ground Ceramics

I have been making functional ceramics for about ten years. I make ceramics out of my studio and sell at craft fairs on the west coast. I have sold at local markets like the Temescal and Laurel Street Fair, as well as larger markets such as West Coast Craft. In the past, I have worked for the Oakland Museum of California as an artist-teacher. In addition, I have taught numerous children and adolescents at Kids 'N Clay pottery studio in Berkeley. I also starred in a documentary about porcelain artist Huang Yungpeg in Jingdezhen, China. It was an amazing experience! I am currently a graduate student studying school counseling and marriage and family therapy, where I plan to use a variety of art practices in my sessions.
