I'm an animation student at The Art Institute of Seattle, working toward a specialty in concept art, which means a huge amount of drawing, redrawing, and of an enormous variety of objects settings, and characters! I take a technical approach, combined with an expressive style, and like to "feel" a picture instead of just see it. Using a mechanical basis, we can use this as a launch pad for your style and knowledge goals. I began a concerted effort in drawing on my own at 9 years old, long before the imposition of art theory and philosophies. I've tried to preserve that unconfined imagination and let it drive my professional work, not the other way around. I can show you aspects of form, figure, and rendering your shape, but only as a tool for remix and refashioning into your own style and signature. I take great inspiration from other artists such as Chris Sheridan, Pat Moriarity, and Edward Gorey, striving toward a mix of realism and surrealism, dark and bright, and a sort of "mental texture" that makes images and ideas come alive.
