About Deron
I am a San Diego native and have shown my paintings extensively throughout San Diego. It wasn't until several years after I graduated from UCLA in 1994 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts, that I really tried to show my work in galleries. Most recently, my work has been in shows at Project X Gallery, The Museum of the Living Artist, The San Diego Art Department, Sanctuary Gallery, Limbo Fine Arts, and Sushi Gallery. I have just started to show in other cities, most recently at the Rialto Theater in Corpus Christi, Texas and The Nico Gallery in Seattle, Washington.

Along with my painting career, I have created children’s book and magazine illustrations, done graphic design work, and taught others how to express themselves creatively through art. I have been creating curricula for children’s art programs and teaching them. I also have been te
aching adults how to paint at the San Diego Art Department for the past 10 years and, in the past two years, with Painting &Vino.

Through my decade of teaching painting, I have honed a teaching style that encourages students to balance creativity and imagination with technique and skill. I strive to help students discover a process in which they are able to express themselves creatively while also teaching paint application techniques, color theory and the Elements and Principles of design. I am often in front of 50+ people at a time presenting my painting techniques within a limited amount of time.

I look forward to coaching you whether you're someone who hasn't painted since you were a kid or you're a seasoned painter who just needs a little help, encouragement or direction.

*** Lesson Details ***
Subjects may include, but are not limited to:
-Color theory
-The Elements & Principles of Design and how to use them
-The Creative Process
-Creating a Composition When You Don't Know What to Paint
-Creating a Painting Using a Photo as a Reference
-Glazing
-Oil vs. Acrylic Paints
-Advice for Artists with Works-In-Process

I am happy to teach a student anything s/he wants to explore within the realm of painting.

While Deron is extremely knowledgeable. ...drawing / sketching is new and I felt that too much was given to me as a beginner in such a short (two hours) span of time. I'm sure after a few more lessons I'll feel more adequate for the task!

It is hard to get a lot out of a lesson doing it remotely. And in one hour! She was wonderful but I think I would like to try lessons either in a group setting or individual face to face. That way she could help me correct mistakes as I go.

About Gilbert
I have worked for many Colleges and Kids Sports organizations. I have been background checked many times. I also teach kids of many ages at The Arbor Learning Center home schooling group.

Mr. M. is a CG artist. Like many, his love for art started in grade school and evolved in high school. While running his own T-Shirt Design company, "Extreme Limitations", he was able to quickly see the power of design, layout, color, and typography.

With over twenty years of experience in Graphic Design, Illustration, Prototype Design, Game Art, and Motion Graphics, Mr. M. now spends his time teaching students in many different graphic disciplines. He has been at Norco College since 2006 teaching 3D Modeling, Animation, Beginning and Advanced Photoshop, Illustrator, Digital Sculpting and Character Design. He has also taught 3D Modeling, Anim
ation, Drawing, Motion Graphics, and Video Editing at Coastline Community College, and Cypress College, Santa Ana and is now teaching 3D Modeling at Mt. SAC.

In his free time, Mr. M. freelances for companies helping production schedules that are running behind. In 2009, Gilbert won an Emmy.

This experience really helped me grasp important concepts that I otherwise would have never known. I feel like I learned A LOT in only 3 classes and I can't wait to learn more. Gil was very productive; he based the lessons on what I use Photoshop for and actually allowed us to work on projects that I had to do for work, instead of just teaching what he wanted to teach. He was SUPER patient and never made me feel bad for stopping to take notes. I would definitely recommend him to anyone trying to learn a computer program he is knowledgeable in. This is totally irrelevant, but he has cool hair too! Thanks Gilbert!

About Jordan
Well Rounded.

That's how I believe every man and woman should become.

Most people put more time in one field and neglect everything else, when they should be efficient in multiple studies.
Being truly brilliant, is being truly knowledgeable overall.

In my life, I gained experience in many different fields and believed that it would be best to share them all with everybody else, and help each individual become someone knowledgeable in many different aspects of life too.
Because you never know, sooner or later, someone may ask for something that only you can help them with!

Jordan was very patient and personable with my son's lesson. It was his first time learning to play his beginner acoustic guitar. Jordan began with the basics, explaining frets, chords, how to pick and precisely tune listening to an online tuner.

The tuning homework exercise was just right for his introduction. He brought along his electric guitar and explained things for us in a way that was easy to understand and pick up. He is looking forward to his lessons.

I love Photography. I am a Tech geek, Sports nut, and Art aficionado who can communicate well with pretty much anyone. I know a little bit about a lot and that easily translates into my passion for Photography. For me it all began back in 8th grade Art class with an oatmeal box pinhole camera and the dark room. When digital photography became the norm this fused two major areas into a foundation for my creative side that was more difficult to express previously. I have been shooting Events, Weddings, Portraits, Sports, Editorial, Lifestyle, Travel, and Wildlife since 2006 in the greater Seattle area.

About Sandra
If you just want to learn software programs, go elsewhere. But if you want to learn to SEE and become a true photographer, Sandra is the person to work with. Although software is certainly part of the discussion, software and cameras don't make pictures – you, your eye, and your experience are what make your pictures different and interesting. Sessions are slated for an hour but they may exceed that at no added charge.

And every person's path toward becoming a better photographer is unique. Sandra has helped hundreds and hundreds of professional (and amateur) photographers significantly improve their photography and their enjoyment of it. Working with her, results are quick.

You will get far more out each session with Sandra than from a dozen sessions with others and you will learn more about yourself and your potential. Just bring
your questions and we start from where you are.

Sandra is an internationally respected picture editor and designer with unique experience that runs from contributions to scores of visual books and White House staff service to work on major newspapers, and the Associated Press. She was instrumental in creation of the original ground-breaking news site MSNBC as well as spearheading creation of the Defense Department's public web program. She has taught at three universities and at workshops all over the U.S. But Sandra is still easy to talk to and interested in YOUR concerns and pictures.

Sandra's key skill may be her ability to articulate visual concepts and issues, to find and convey the underlying currents and needs in a photographers work and then help him/her find the personal, unique route to reaching his/her potential.

Always fully honest, Sandra is also fully supportive of helping any photographer, from beginner to seasoned professional, become better, see more, and understand their own work on new levels.

Sandra can certainly help with technical matters but her special forte is in helping photographers and designers see in new ways. She has worked with documentary, landscape, fine art, portrait and other photographers as well as designers and web site builders.

Group sessions can also be arranged on request for additional fees.

Bienvenido/a a mi perfil. Me llamo Christelle y soy profesora. ¡Encantada!

I was born in Argentina and spent the first half of my life there and then moved to Spain, where I lived until 2016 when I moved to Chicago area.

While I was still getting my Bachelor's Degree in English Philology in Barcelona, I started working in language schools teaching English to all ages.
I worked as an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher for almost 7 years. I have experience with children as young as 1 y/o, one-to-one lessons, small and large groups.

I am currently working as a Spanish and Art teacher in a private school in Oak Brook, Fusion Academy. I work with high schoolers who struggle learning in conventional learning environments.
I also have a Spanish Teacher certification from International House Barcelona and I am an official DELE
(Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language) examiner certified by Instituto Cervantes.

ABOUT MY PRIVATE LESSONS

I can help you improve your current level of Spanish, help your children with Spanish at school, or teach you Spanish from scratch!

⋆ LOCATIONS
I live in Bloomingdale and work in the DuPage county area. I meet most of my students in local coffee shops like Starbucks or Panera, but at-home lessons are possible as well.

⋆ LESSON FREQUENCY AND LENGTH

It would depend on your goals. School tutoring usually requires less time because Spanish at school is extremely basic and it’s doesn’t really lead to fluency in the language. Anything else needs a greater degree of commitment! I meet my students for one hour once or twice per week AT LEAST.

⋆ TEACHING METHOD
For school tutoring I try to adapt to your school’s method. For other types of lessons, I prefer avoiding translation and memorization and make use of effective Spanish textbooks, technology, games and free conversation.

⋆ SCHEDULE / AVAILABILITY
I mostly teach Monday-Friday afternoons and weekends in the morning.

⋆ RESCHEDULING / CANCELLATIONS / PUNCTUALITY
I understand flexibility is convenient and appreciated, so I allow rescheduling and cancellations in case of emergency or with enough advance notice. I recommend students to stick to their agreed schedule if they want to achieve their goals, even if that means to meet at another time during that same week. If I am already on my way to your lesson and you need to cancel, I will charge for the lesson. If you’re going to be late, please let me know, and I can’t guarantee that I can stay later than our scheduled time.

⋆ FIRST LESSON
During our first lesson we will take time to go over any important information, set our goals and answer questions regarding nature of our lessons. We can talk about fees and teaching materials during this lesson as well.

For any more details or any questions, please don’t hesitate contacting me!

About AHMED
I do not see teaching as simply repeating what has been already detailed in text books and lectures. Everyone’s mind is different and thus everyone has a unique perception to understanding one issue or another. Things are better illustrated with an example.

A while back, there was a television show hosted by a T.V. personality named Monty Hall. In the show, Monty presented a contestant with 3 closed doors. Behind one door was a new car. And behind each of the other two doors was a goat. The contestant had the option to choose one door so as to win the new car.

The probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 or door 3 was the same, about 33.33%. Let us say that the contestant picked door 1. Monty would then open one of the other two doors that were not chosen by the contestant. There were 3 terms in the game: 1) Monty knew what w
as behind each door; 2) Monty cannot open the door that was already chosen by the contestant; 3) Monty would only open a door that hides a goat.

Let us say Monty opened door 3 revealing a goat. Monty then asked the contestant if the contestant would like to switch to door 2 or keep his original choice of door 1. Contestants would be bewildered not knowing really what to do. Was it better to keep the originally choice or was it better to switch or it would make no difference whether to keep the original choice or switch?

Meet Marilyn vos Savant. Marilyn wrote a column called “Ask Marilyn” in a newspaper called Parade. Marilyn was known for having one of the highest recorded IQ. A reader sent Marilyn a letter asking her if it was better to switch or not to switch. Marilyn stated in her column that a contestant should switch since switching doubled the contestant’s chances of winning. Many of Marilyn’s readers erupted in protest including readers with Ph.D., mathematicians, and academicians. Most people believed that the probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 was the same of 50%.

This became known as The Monty Hall Problem or The Monty Hall Paradox. Articles and books were written over this problem. Actually Marilyn was right and this was proven using computer simulation. Yet until today many people cannot understand that switching doubles the chances of winning.

At first glance this paradox might seem irrelevant to teaching. But I think it does. This paradox tutor the mind in the subject of structured thinking which is very important in learning.
