Meg is an incredible voice teacher. When I first came to her, I was what most people would call 'tone-deaf.' After only a couple of months of taking lessons with Meg, not only can I match pitch, but I have gained tremendous confidence in myself as a singer, performer and person. I would highly recommend her, no matter what level you’re at!

Each student is unique, and it's difficult to classify as "beginner/intermediate/advanced" since student objectives are unique as well. I'm interested in understanding where you are on the spectrum for a wide variety of skills, and will work with each student to move along the spectrum on skills that are important to his or her objectives.

About Cindy

Cindy has been making music for as long as she can remember. She was the assistant director of a synagogue children's choir by age 14 and has directed and sung with many community choirs and pickup groups since then. But it wasn't until 1996 that she discovered the autoharp and began teaching and

Cindy is an amazing fiddle teacher. I came to her for help in learning old-time fiddle technique. I wanted something more than just learning the tune. Cindy is helping me improve my bowing style, be a better listener, and achieve a sound I always dreamed of but didn't know how to do.

When it comes to teachers, Cindy is the best of the best. She'll lay out exercises to build your skill step by step. If you love old-time music and want to excel at playing the fiddle, Cindy's your gal.
Marybeth M.
Cindy is teaching me how to play Old Time fiddle tunes and technique in the cross tune of GDGD. I find her to be an instructor that is both process-oriented (providing information about the music background"what, when, who, why") and product-oriented (how to play/technique). She always begins lessons with a review from the past lesson and the homework provided that she records and sends to me. Her demonstrations are very clear and are at a rate and pace comfortable to me. She provides clear verbal cues throughout the lessons. Cindy is very strong in task analysis, breaking down each tune part, beginning with bowing. Her feedback throughout lessons is both positive-specific and corrective-specific. Every lesson is highly enjoyable and filled with encouragement. I am a retired college professor in teacher education, and I know about the constructs of what makes a high quality teacher - Cindy, demonstrates this to me. I feel fortunate to have Cindy as my fiddle instructor.
Emily
I feel really lucky to have connected with Cindy on takelessons.com during the pandemic. I actually cannot think of another time a teacher has taught me so much so skillfully - and it's all happening over the internet! Cindy has a fabulous sense of humor, she is honest and good at her profession. She's more than a fiddle teacher, she shares a music tradition with wisdom and care.

"Elaina has been the perfect instructor for our 11-year-old daughter. She is young enough to relate to a pre-teen but mature enough to have many years under her belt of professional instruction. Our daughter has enjoyed working on the pop songs she likes to sing around the house, and as a mother I'm pleased that Elaina is teaching her the classic building blocks to mastering a healthy voice.

We highly recommend Elaina. She is professional, on time, organized, easy-going and fun."

"Excellent Teacher With Awesome Personality

Kelly is an excellent teacher. In just a few months with her, I have learned so much. My voice has become stronger with no prior training in singing. She is fun with a great personality as well as very encouraging. Every time we're done with a lesson, I leave with a great sense of accomplishment and confidence that pushes me to keep going and wanting to learn more. I took singing lessons to improve my vocal skills in rapping and Kelly has helped me reach that goal along with many others I didn't plan on achieving. I would definitely recommend her to anybody beginning, intermediate, or professional."

"Truly the BEST OF THE BEST.

I have studied with Tanisha Hall for 14 months. During this time she’s expanded my power, range, stamina, phrasing, note-perfect pitch, and stage presence. She has also kept me from damaging my chords, so I don’t have a sore throat anymore. Perhaps the most critical thing Tanisha has shown me is how to AUTHENTICALLY CONNECT with audiences and form a deep bond with them during live performances.

RESULTS:
Since Tanisha has been working with me, here are the tangible results, with no exaggeration at all:

I got to sing the Star Spangled Banner for start of a 5K road race that had 3,000 runners in it, and a very large crowd of spectators.

I have been offered weekly residency at a performance venue in North Hollywood, and also a bi-weekly residency at high-end supper club in Long Beach.

I got invited to collaborate with a well-known pianist to perform Christmas songs with her at two of her most exclusive venues. She also wants to collaborate with me to sing at weddings during the wedding season.

I’ve also received offers to co-write new material and to go into the studio to cut tracks with some artists in Orange County, even though their style and genre is very different than the direction I plan to go into. They keep constantly bugging me to sing with them.

And more...

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In summary, I simply can’t tell you how critical Tanisha has been to my development (after years of going nowhere) and how LUCKY anyone is to have her as an instructor.

If she has room in her schedule to take you on as a new student, you’d better take it while you can. Even if it means driving 40 miles, you’ll never find anyone better than her, for sure."

Cincinnati, The City That Sings!

By Stacey S. - Cincinnati Singing Teacher

Contrary to popular thought, the local aspiring singer does not have to move to big cities (such as New York, Chicago or Los Angeles) to get started with a full-time music career. There are plenty of opportunities for all ages and abilities in our amazing city of Cincinnati - otherwise known as "The City That Sings!"

I'm Stacey, and I am a professional, full-time singer and pianist in Cincinnati. I was born and raised in the nearby suburb of Florence, Kentucky, and I am proud to still be an active member of the Cincinnati singing community…which is huge! There are many ways to get involved with this community while taking singing lessons in Cincinnati. Pick one or several, sign up for lessons at TakeLessons, and join in all the noi

Choral singing is a great way to learn and strengthen ensemble skills, work on technique, develop ear and harmony abilities, and have fun with like-minded friends! It is also a great way to get to perform at high-profile and intimidating venues with a whole crew of singing support!

I started singing in my church choir at the age of five. Ask some local musicians to learn how you or your child can get involved in your community of faith! I also sang in the CCM’s Children’s choir now known as the Cincinnati Children’s Choir, in which I often had solo opportunities and great performing opportunities! http://www.cincinnatichoir.org

Have a young boy who likes to sing? Consider having him audition for the Cincinnati Boychoir, the region's prestigious professional boychoir! For adults, there is the very prestigious May Festival Chorus, with whom I was able to make my Carnegie Hall debut! May Festival is the official chorus of the Cincinnati Symphony. There is also the May Festival Youth Chorus for high school students, which also regularly sings with the Symphony! http://cincinnatiboychoir.org http://mayfestival.com

Looking for less of a time commitment and a non-traditional choral experience? Join the Young Professional Choral Collective, a group of YPs that practices and performs in downtown bars! http://ypccsing.org

There are a ton of other choral groups in Cincinnati, thanks in part to our strong German heritage. The Greater Cincinnati Choral Consortium is a group of 44 of the regions choirs! There is a choir for everyone! http://www.cincisings.org

Cincinnati is known as a hub of great local theater. Performing in a musical strengthens stage presence, helps boosts confidence, and is a whole lot of fun! Cincinnati’s Children’s Theater is a local professional theatre that gives amazing professional performing opportunities to children! More info about the upcoming season and auditions can be found here: https://www.thechildrenstheatre.com

CinStages is a great website to stay up to date on local theater productions and auditions! There is always a ton going on from the famous Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, the Carnegie in Covington, KY, The Incline Theater, the list goes on and on and on… http://www.cinstages.com

Looking for a less formal way to sing? Why not check out one of the many open-mic nights or Karaoke events? Wednesdays at the Northside Tavern you can catch Sexy Time Live Band Karaoke, where yes, you’ll get to sing karaoke with a professional band! To see their schedule around town, visit: http://www.sexytimekaraoke.com

Karaoke Fantastic is a personal favorite of mine, as they have over 16,000 songs available with extremely professional sound equipment and mixing. You’ll sound like a pro, even if you’ve just started your singing lessons in Cincinnati! http://www.karaokefantastic.com

Open-mic nights are a great way to try out a new song and get some performing experience…usually with only a small crowd (i.e. less pressure!). Visit http://openmikes.org to find an event near you! Often, these are held in coffee shops, so are good for the younger crowd!

Not quite ready to perform, and just looking for some good music to listen to? The University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, Northern Kentucky University and Xavier University all have amazing music and theatre programs with tons of free events happening all year round, as everyone who graduates with a performance degree must present at least one free recital! Check out their websites here: http://ccm.uc.edu http://artscience.nku.edu/departments/music/concerts.html http://www.xavier.edu/music/

The Cincinnati Symphony, The Cincinnati Opera, and the Cincinnati Ballet are all world-class organizations right here in the Queen City and those are just a few! Cincinnati Arts Organization is a great place to learn about all the exciting things happening at Music Hall and the Arnoff Center! http://www.cincinnatiarts.org

The Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati is a premiere professional chamber choir which I have sung with since 2009. For a truly unique concert going experience, check them out at: http://www.vaecinci.org/index.html
